Noshki: The financial secretary and acting information secretary of BRP Mir Riaz Badeni and Ibrahim Badeni ‘who have been released from an AFT secret cell, said that Balochistan liberation struggle cannot be stopped by putting the Baloch in torture cells and forced-imprisonments. Mr Raiz Badeni said that thousands of Baloch including himself have faced extreme torture in at the hands of their Pakistani (MI, ISI, and ATF) captors.

He said that the torture he and other Baloch prisoners had faced is gruesome and graphic and that he doesn’t have the “words” to describe it. “Inhuman torture is being inflicted on Baloch men, women and children – Pakistanis forces are treating Baloch prisoners far worse than the suspected alqaeeda people in Guantanamo bay by the American forces”.

They said that they were now more determined than “we will continue to follow the ideology of Shaheed Nawab Akbar Bugti, Nawabzada Shaheed Balaach Marri and thousands of other Baloch Martyrs, under the leadership of Brahumdagh Bugti for the greater cause of Independence. We know it is a difficult path we chose but we are ready for all sorts of sacrifices for the liberation of Balochistan”
Azaad (Independent) Balochistan is the destiny of Baloch people and no power in the world can stop the Baloch freedom struggle. The BRP leaders revealed that hundreds of Baloch have become paralyzed in the torture centres of ATF (Anti Terrorist Forces). They said they have met many Baloch youth and elderly people in Pakistani jails including Shahzad Bugti and Gull Khan Bugti who were abducted 12 months before. Due inhuman torture many Baloch prisoners have become completely paralyzed and they are now kept with dogs.

There is a saying in Balochi “Doost Pa Doosta Soogi Nabet Pedawaren Kaare Nakant” meaning if a friend cannot express his compassion in the time of condolence, he should not cheer up dancing in happiness which could increase the intensity of one’s sorrow.

Every true person aware of the violence and genocide in Balochistan is sadden except those Baloch leaders who are in power or awaiting to be in power aren’t bothered about it. The demand of being in power has snatched their human soul and emptied them internally. Perhaps for such people it is said “They are already dead but they just don’t stink!”. But for an ordinary Baloch, Balochistan is exactly like the ‘aim’ of Socrates student who wanted to know the meaning of ‘aim’ so his master takes him to a pond to make him understand the meaning of ‘aim’. The master asks him to step into water, once they reach a deep point the master grabs his hair and starts to drown him. With in a few seconds the student starts having difficulty in breathing. Feeling the death closely he struggles to get out but the master holds him tight. Here comes a moment when the student uses his entire energy in getting out and succeed. After feeling a bit better he asks his master ‘What have you done?!’ so master replies ‘I wanted to make you understand the meaning of ‘aim’, the feeling in demand of survival could not be expressed by words and nor anyone can feel it anytime. When all other wishes in the world are no more and one and only wish is left, that particular wish is called ‘aim’.

Today Baloch nation is finding itself drowning. Iran and Pakistan have the will of chaining their feet and drowning them and Baloch nation is uniting its all energy for the only aim of its survival.

In such, the strength of intensity in Baloch nation in breaking these chains of slavery and in reaction the conspiracies against it are of the same strength. Baloch nation is aware of the price and toughness of its decision. It is ready to face any attack from the enemy but in such tough time it is badly hurt when its own people like its enemy attack them with the similar intensity hatred wise.

After reading the statements of two Baloch political personalities in the same week, ones feelings are hurt deeply. Chief Minister Aslam Raisani said the intelligence agencies should not be accused for the missing persons and the missing persons had deliberately gone underground to malign the intelligence agencies. On the second statement Haasil Bizenjo being a Baloch informs the Indians that there isn’t any freedom movement in Balochistan in fact Balochs are fighting for their right under Pakistan’s frame work.

Before commenting on such criminal statements of these leaders we would like to say that hundred people like Rehman Malik using all their forces cannot harm Baloch national struggle such hard as one of these statements given by such Baloch politicians could do.

We will not debate on Mir Haasil Bezinjo’s statement because such misguiding statements were debated in many of our articles but we would just say that these people whenever talking about their rights in Pakistan’s framework can repeat talking thousand times it is their democratic right, but keeping in mind the respect of the sacrifices of numerous martyrs, at least they should say those are freedom seekers. Presenting Baloch struggle in such ways show that the people sacrificing their lives and these political personalities have the same agenda. And those in the mountains are under these personalities so whenever their demands are met these personalities will call them back from mountains and everything will be all right whereas in reality nothing is so. Such statements are dangerous to national struggles because these could lead misunderstanding in the world about Baloch national struggle and rather than a concrete demand many useless debates take place which obviously go in the favor of the enemy.

Chief Minister’s statement about missing persons not being in the custody of the intelligence agencies is such a lie that strongly annoys. Being in power has closed the eyes of such people or if 2 and a half years back when these people were not in power and intelligence agencies were kidnapping people in Balochistan and releasing one or two after numerous tortures and when these people used to tell their stories (of being tortured) these gentlemen used to strictly condemn (the intelligence agencies) for it. But today since they are in power they are unable to see the killings of their brothers and the rapes of their sisters by the intelligence agencies.

We cannot figure out each word of this statement being a knife cutting Jalil Reki, Iqbal Baloch, Dr. Deen Mohd, Zakir Majeed, Asghar Bangulzai and thousands of other missing persons relatives hearts but we could figure out that after this statement no other mask is left to be revealed on Aslam Raisani. Those people will be ashamed today who used to say that particular person is an honest person but establishment has forced him to give such heart breaking statements like “Baloch missing persons have deliberately gone underground”. In this view another statement from a political alliance pass through which stated soreness that it is not far that tomorrow this gentleman might say that Martyr Ghulam Mohammad and his colleagues committed suicide, Rasool Baksh Mengal with a sharp blade cut his chest and back writing ’Hail Pakistan’ and ’Down to Baloch and BLA’. Dr Allah Nizar beat and chained himself up. The worker of Education Ministry in Mand, Sattar Baloch decorated his body with cigarette burn marks.

The list is very long so lets leave it by just mentioning Shafi Baloch’s case who was in custody for 15-20 days and was later on in condition of half dead thrown near a street corner. He said that they were hanged upside down naked and one bearded Punjabi soldier used to urinate on the faces of Baloch prisoners singing ‘Hail Hail Pakistan!’ and then give them electric shocks on the same urinated wet faces. Along these tortures such threats were also given to them that after their release if they open their mouth and try to tell anyone how they were treated, they shall be killed.

Rather than giving such statement that Baloch missing persons have deliberately gone underground, Chief Minister could have attempted moral courage by saying ‘Intelligence Agencies own imposed government is active in Balochistan and We are helpless‘. This truth is painful but would not have been an example of such carelessness.

Conclusion:
Perhaps for some people Chief Minister’s this statement might have been a shocking one but for us it wasn’t anything new. We have been saying this before that all those who think that Aslam Raisani, Zardari or Nawaz Sharif are honest to Baloch, are in mistake. In fact these people who think so are opportunists and are wondering if they are going to take Raisani’s place after him. Such people in the name of nationalism are sitting in the markets trading nation and nationalism.

In reality any ruler in Islamabad and any government in Baluchistan (under Pakistani rule) being Chief Minister Aslam Raisani or Jamali, Mengal or Zehri, Achakzai or Darzadag, Sarmastani or Hazara everyone will now or then speak Pakistan’s accent and the state policy is that all the nations by force or by greed should be made Pakistanis and all the present coast and resources should be under the occupation of the state, no one should be able to claim its right in any condition.

Those who are unaware of it are the most ignorant people of the world and those who are aware of this and still are insisting to go to parliament with any excuse, we can only pray for such people that they are advised to get rid of such nation enmity.

Shutter-down and wheel jam protest in Balochistan on Pakistani prime minister’s visit to Gwader

Quetta: Baloch people have protested against the Pakistani government and once against rejected the announcements of packages and jobs being offering to them as charity. BNF had given the call to protest on the day of PM’s arrival to Gwader. Radio Gwank reported that today (29/12/2009) people have observed wheel jam and shutter-down protest to show their anger against Pakistan government.

Speaking to Radio Gwank Mr Ismael Baloch said that around 20,000 Pakistani troops have been deployed in Gwader for the PM’s security, the road form where the PM has passed has been completely blocked for public movements. Mr Ismael Baloch claimed that no one has participated in the gathering of PM apart from some of the government servants and PPP members.

He said that PM did not announce anything new but repeated the past rhetoric of the Pakistani governments that they would develop Balochistan, give jobs etc. The Pakistani PM like the previous heads of Pakistan has regretted that Balochistan has been ignored from last 62 years. PM however said that people should not doubt the intentions of PPP government.

Mr Khalil Baloch a member of BNM has said that they have protested to remind the Pakistani PM that Balochistan is an occupied land and that the people of Balochistan are not interested in Pakistan’s packages and jobs. He said that today’s shutter down and wheel jam was the reaction of Baloch Nation and people of Makuran and they wanted remind the PM that Baloch have nothing to do with Pakistan and Punjab. No common Baloch has welcomed the PM to Gwader, in fact the Baloch have observed a black day.

He said “The martyrs of the Nation have not sacrificed their precious lives for some jobs and packages, neither the sarmachaars (freedom fighters) are fighting for anything like this. Baloch struggle is against the occupation of Baloch land and Baloch are giving sacrifices to regain their Independent status”.

Exclusive Interview of Mehran Baluch with TNS

Mehran Baloch is the youngest of six sons of veteran Balochistan nationalist leader Nawab Khair Bukhsh Marri. Educated in Oxford, he is an international voice, and arguably the most articulate and passionate one, of the Balochistan case, especially at the United Nations and western think-tanks where his voice is considered critical.

Living in Britain for over 20 years now, Mehran was thrown into spotlight in March 2007 when it emerged that the Pervez Musharraf-led government of Pakistan wanted to trade Mehran against Rashid Rauf, a British terrorist suspect from Birmingham, who was in the custody of Pakistan at the time and wanted in Britain on a number of terrorism charges.

When the details were published, it became known that the Pakistani establishment was attaching a huge price tag to the extradition of the young Marri.

He fled from London, awakened to the rude reality that British intelligence was monitoring him round-the-clock on Pervez Musharraf's personal request.

Mehran, who has shunned Pakistani media for over three years despite repeated requests for interviews, spoke to TNS in London in an exclusive interview and emphasised uncompromisingly that too much blood had been shed of the Baloch to negotiate with the incumbent setup. But, he also singled out the redundant Baloch sardari system for being in a criminal pact with the federal government in order to hold back the progress of poor Baloch masses. He minces no words in his harsh criticism of Baloch sardars, including Aali Shahzain Bugti and the current Khan of Qalat Mir Suleiman Daud Khan, whom he calls “a directionless stuntman”.

TNS: What is Baloch movement for you? How do you define it?
Mehran Baloch: It's a retrospective movement. The new generation has revived the origins of the Balochistan movement. There was a time when the occupation and forceful assimilation of Balochistan by Pakistan was accepted by many, but my generation with the guidance of leaders like my father, have been successful in reviving the cause with the aim of achieving a permanent long-term solution. This generation cannot be misled by packages and privileges such as the one recently announced by the Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. I have full faith in the new generation and I believe the new generation is more aware of their rights and are firmly committed to achieve the goals set by our great leaders. Speculating on day-to-day political matters is not an option for us.

TNS: You are active at the international level to raise awareness about the Balochistan issue. What successes have you achieved?

MB: I was the only Baloch to address the human rights violations committed in Balochistan by Pakistan in 2001 before the United Nations Human Rights Commission. Things have considerably changed since then. I had an uphill task. People used to think Balochistan was one of the states of former USSR or just a small and poor province of Pakistan. I am proud to say I have worked hard on my own, and without a team, and today the world knows about our issue. Now people know who we are. There are more people working on highlighting the plight of the Baloch nation internationally, including non-Balochs such as Peter Tatchell, Selig Harrisson, Wendelin Johnson and Charles Graves, to name a few.

TNS: Is it correct that the biggest antagonist you face at the world stage is the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC)?

MB: That is absolutely correct. Pakistan has a lot of power in the Islamic world as it provides its services to a number of Islamic states in legal and illegal, moral and immoral ways. The Islamic states return the favour by supporting Pakistan at international forums and turning a blind eye towards Balochistan. The OIC has become an organised Islamist mafia, hijacked by Pakistan.

The western countries, on the other hand, operate differently; they listen to your point of view and grievances as long as you are not working under the influence of some sinister agenda. Though our movement is based on secularism, patriotism and human rights, unfortunately due to the vested interests of western superpowers in this region, they need to oblige Pakistan.

TNS: Does the current regional geo-political situation favour your belligerent position?

MB: The current situation is favourable to us because the United States, Nato and ISAF forces are operating in Afghanistan and along the border. They are in a better position to see things for themselves, whereas before they totally relied on Pakistan for all kinds of information, which Pakistan conveniently manipulated for its benefit. Now the international ground forces as well as American drones, which operate in Pakistan, clearly see the ground realities for themselves and no longer have to rely on the Pakistan army for intelligence. These powerful countries now have a better insight into the situation and they know very well about the atrocities taking place in Balochistan at the hands of the Pakistani army.

TNS: General (rtd) Pervez Musharraf wanted you extradited from the UK and you topped his most wanted list? Are you still being hounded?
MB: There is no doubt that my life is under persistent threat and intelligence agencies are after me.

Musharraf and his incompetent Inter-Services Intelligence were so unintelligent that they didn't even check the basic fact that I am a British national and have never held a Pakistani passport. I was not even born in Pakistan. Pakistan spent vast resources and used state influence to get me, my brother Hyrbyair Marri, Faiz Baloch and numerous other advocates of Baloch human rights victimised by foreign governments. Due to the extraordinary situation in Britain, I was forced to live abroad fearing that UK authorities would arrest me on false allegations as they did with my brother, Hyrbyair, and swap me with its home-grown Islamic extremists in Pakistan to please dictator Musharraf and the ISI.

Now they realise that they have wasted their taxpayers' money on victimising us and understand that we are not Islamic fundamentalists planning to "blow up Britain”. Even though now they realise that we have our own national issue, I am still stopped at airports, whisked and quizzed on petty matters.

Only in September this year, the Swiss police questioned two Pakistani spies that were sent from the Pakistani embassy to harass me at a hotel in Geneva, where I was residing. They always tried to bar my entry and have pressed foreign governments and institutions to criminalise, defame and undermine my credibility by saying I was a terrorist and should not be allowed to speak on international forums regarding Balochistan. They have gone so far as to fabricate Interpol red notices on false names and presented it to the head of my NGO Dr. Charles Graves and threatened him with serious consequences if he did not revoke my accreditation with the organisation.

TNS: Your father Nawab Marri stood for autonomy but you have abandoned his idea?

MB: He has always advocated the restoration of a sovereign and independent Balochistan and we are pursuing exactly his path and vision.

TNS: You too are a product of the sardari system, its beneficiary and sitting abroad while the ordinary people suffer?

MB: Yes I hail from a sardari system but that should not be held against me. I am proud to be the son of a renowned Baloch patriot, Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, who has sacrificed his life and confronted consecutive military dictators for the betterment of the Baloch nation and never bowed before the enemy to gain personal privileges and wealth. We should indeed be acknowledged for remaining committed to our nation and determined to ensure their welfare and dignity. In my view, a genuine sardar should be a representative of his people, not the Punjabi-Pakistani establishment.

TNS: What are your views on the armed insurgency mainly around Bugti and Marri areas?

MB: I differ with you. I call it a self-defence movement. Sixty two years of occupation and constant disrespect and systematic genocide of our people have driven them to resist and defy the dictates of the occupying army and its cahoots. The people are not willing to suffer in silence anymore. Those who have taken to the mountains are heroes and they are defending their land and its honour.

The independence movement is widespread. It's all over Balochistan. Since Marri and Bugti areas are resource rich, the army is targeting these areas because Pakistan's viability depends on the oil and gas reserves present there. We are struggling for the rights and sovereignty of Balochistan, not only for the Marri and Bugti areas.

TNS: But majority Baloch leadership opinion doesn't match yours?

MB: I would ideally like the tribal leaders to sit back and think hard over what's going on in their country rather than being carried away and enthusiastic about the ministries, packages and petty benefits thrown to them by their masters. They have responsibilities but they have been corrupted. They are not sincere to their people. These people are rogue traders and merchants of their motherland. The Baloch nation recognises them.

TNS: Insurgents have killed Punjabis and other non-Balochs. Do you condemn such acts?

MB: It's a one-sided view to ask this question. Before I condemn such acts, I should explain why such incidents are taking place. The establishment, mainly comprising Punjabis, has targeted Baloch youth and leadership for a long time. This is just a reaction to the Pakistani actions. They (Punjabi settlers) are facilitating the establishment's desire to ethnically flood Balochistan and are seen as being sympathetic to the Punjabi occupiers rather than their host Baloch nation. The settlement of Punjabis in Balochistan was a conspiracy from the start by the establishment. Therefore, they are always viewed with suspicion because it is believed that many were stationed in Balochistan under different guises for the purpose of espionage.

TNS: Isn't it unfair and unjust to blame all Punjabis?

MB: It might be unfair and unjust to blame all Punjabis, but it is up to the Punjabi people to take a stand against their representatives whose hegemony remains over Pakistan, the military and the predominantly Punjabi bureaucracy. Therefore, the burden lies upon them. The resources of Balochistan are usurped for the betterment, development and prosperity of Punjab. The survival and prosperity of Pakistan is dependent upon the occupation of Baloch resources. You don't have to be Einstein to figure out whom to blame. They can hold long march for the restoration of a judge, but they choose not to raise their voice when their army is committing genocide in Balochistan.

TNS: What about the Baloch sardari system that has held people back?

MB: This is a misconception propagated by the Pakistani establishment in order to undermine the Baloch system, which is in theory democratic, just, principled and merit-based. But, due to the interference by the occupying Pakistani forces, the system has been undermined and the sardars' loyalty bought. If the sardars were the only element holding back prosperity and development, then Makran, where there is no sardari system, should have prospered remarkably.

TNS: What is your view on the Khan of Kalat Suleiman Ahmedzai's vow to take the Baloch case for autonomy or independence to the International Court of Justice at The Hague?

MB: I have respect for the Khan of Kalat. I hope the Khan is sincere in his intentions and I wish him good luck. I appreciate each and every individual's effort to safeguard the national interest of the Baloch nation and highlight the sufferings of the Baloch people. However, I feel that the Khan is capable of far greater tasks because of his noble position. But, unfortunately he has compromised his status and undermined his credibility in the Baloch nationalist society in Balochistan and among the diaspora by only assuming the role of a publicity stuntman for the past three years.

TNS: How can you survive independently as a clear majority in Balochistan wants to stay with Pakistan?

MB: I am confident that we will be a key player in the region due to Balochistan's geo-strategic importance. We have natural resources in abundance and a coastline that will serve as a gateway to Central Asia. We will probably even have a higher per capita income than Brunei.
I am sorry that I disagree with your point that a clear majority in Balochistan wants to stay with Pakistan; on the contrary, a clear majority wants to break free from Pakistan's slavery. It's only a handful of traitors who are always part of the government including the present, who accepted being slaves of Punjab and have no sympathy with Balochistan.

TNS: What kind of support are you offering from abroad?

MB: I am trying to highlight and inform the world in my capacity as to what is going on in Balochistan and expose Pakistan's repressive conduct in Balochistan internationally. My aim is to internationalise Pakistan's role in international terrorism as well as to expose its champion status as a state that sponsors and commits terrorism for its survival. Pakistan benefits from destabilising its neighbouring countries.

TNS: Who in your opinion is leading the current struggle against military?

MB: It's a phantom leading the struggle. The entire Balochistan is a war zone. The occupying Pakistani army is carrying out military offensives unabatedly, thus the Baloch nation has no option but to defend itself. Nawab Akbar Bugti and Balach Marri were the torch-bearers of the struggle against Pakistan's genocide of the Baloch. The Pakistani army was hopeful that the struggle would end once they murder Nawab and Balach but what they failed to understand was that the Baloch struggle was a national struggle for the Baloch nation and led by the Baloch nation. The martyrdom of our national leaders enraged the Baloch nation, and as a result the resolve of the Baloch for liberation has been further strengthened.

TNS: What will be your conditions for negotiations with the government of Pakistan?

MB: Politics is the science of possibilities, but Pakistani politics defies all logic. The government of Pakistan has always been a puppet and subservient to the military establishment, therefore it lacks authority to even determine its own petty administrative affairs. I don't think they are in any position to initiate negotiations on serious matters such as Balochistan. We need a credible third party as a guarantor before any negotiations can take place.

Maybe there comes a point when there will be a different scenario and we will see when it comes to that. If our occupiers change the reality and become sincere in dealing, we will be ready for an amicable solution like withdrawal of Indonesian forces from East Timor.

The people of Balochistan do not trust Pakistan and are strongly convinced that Pakistan is insincere with the people of Balochistan. Mir Aali Bugti and Shahzain Bugti don't endorse an armed confrontation and are negotiating with the government. Mir Aali and Shahzain are toeing a line that is completely acceptable to the Punjabi-dominated civil-military bureaucracy. The Pakistani military-nominated leader of the Bugti tribe, Mir Aali, doesn't have any authority to carry out any meaningful negotiations with the government and it's ironic that they have the military to protect him from his own tribesmen.
According to the Baloch patriots, the true successor of Nawab Akbar Bugti is none other than his grandson Brahamdagh Bugti. He is continuing on the footsteps of his grandfather and is defending the rights of the Baloch nation and its resources from being looted and plundered by Pakistan at the cost of his own comfort and security. Being the youngest leader, he has proved that he has the vision and endurance required for attaining a nation's independence.

TNS: There is a lot of speculation about the sources/funding behind BLA and BRA?

MB: I don’t want to be one of the speculators. I suggest you ask somebody linked to these organisations about their funding. However, throughout the Baloch struggle, the Baloch nation has been constantly accused of being foreign agents. The establishment has to misinform the international community and keep the Islamist Punjabi-Pakistani masses, media and opinion makers on their side by levelling such absurd allegations. The best cohesive strategy is to say a non-Islamic country India, Israel or America is behind the struggle. If a credible nation such as the ones mentioned were behind the Baloch freedom fighters (homeland defenders), Balochistan would have surely regained its independence by now.

BNF announces wheel jam and shutter-down protests on arrival of Pakistani Prime Minister to Balochistan

Quetta: Baloch National Front (a combination of pro-Independent Baloch parties) has announced shutter-down and wheel jam protests in Balochistan on 29 December 2009, on Pakistani Prime Minister’s visit to Gwader Balochistan. The BNF said it was protesting against the ongoing military operations and the 62 years of deception of Baloch people by Pakistani rulers.

There will be a shutter-down in Makuran region and wheel jam and shutter down protest will be observed in Gwader district on the day of Pakistani Prime Minister’s arrival to Gwader on 29 December 2009. Coalition parties of BNF will also take out protest rallies and observe protest demonstrations in Karachi and elsewhere in Balochistan on the same day (Tuesday).

According to BNF statement Pakistani rulers have been deceiving the Baloch people from last 62 years in the name of negotiations, announcement of so called development projects and packages. While rejecting the current Balochistan package the BNF said it is nothing but a joke with the people of Balochistan. BNF appealed to the Baloch Nation and coalition parties to take part in the wheel jam and shutter-down protest in order to prove that Baloch are not interested in Pakistan’s so called package but Baloch are struggling for a greater cause and that is to regain their independent status.

Iranian forces start rehearsals on Western and Eastern borders of Balochistan

Chagi Balochistan (NNI): Iran has started unusual activities on the borders of Eastern province Sistan Balochistan to beef up the security for the mourners of Muharram.

However, Important sources told NNI that Iranian forces have started war rehearsals in Jalk, Sarawan and other surrounding areas in the bordering regions of Iranian occupied Balochistan. These forces are reportedly equipped with latest weapons and other ammunition.

It is worth mentioning that due to security situations Iran has sealed the border ‘Rahdari Gate’ between pak Iran. The Trad Gate was sealed after a deadly suicide attack on Iranian security forces on 18 October 2009 (in Pishin Balochistan). The Pak-Iran trade gate remains closed even after high delegation headed by the chief secretary Balochistan visited Iran to convince the Iranian authorities to reopen the Pak Iran trade gate.

Brother of provincial minister open fire upon students rally

Quetta: Students of Government School Gumazai in Kech Balochistan were taking out a peaceful protest rally against the shortage of teachers at their school, when Shahbaz Rind brother of a provincial minister Mir Asghar Rind allegedly opened fire on them. As a result two students identified as Yasir, and Salam sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to hospital for treatment where condition of Yasir is stated to be serious.

Eyewitnesses reported that Yasir Baloch has been shot in the leg and Salam suffered injuries on his head when he was hit but butt of a gun. The security force also baton charged rest of the protest, the baton charge on school kids has allegedly been ordered by the aforementioned provincial minister.

Meanwhile, BSO-Azad strongly condemned the incident of firing upon school children and has announced shutter down strike and boycott of classes on Thursday (today) in Kech district against the incident.

The spokesman of BSO-Azad said that students were holding a peaceful rally against shortage of teachers in their school.

University students concerned over disappearance of fellow students

QUETTA, Dec 21: The students of Balochistan University have expressed great concern over the alleged arrest and forced disappearances of students and demanded for immediate release of all students.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday students of Balochistan University including Safdar Baloch, Shahbaz Baloch, Nuroz Khan and others complained that students were badly affected due to prevailing situation in Balochistan.

They said that several students of Balochistan had been allegedly picked up by government agencies and security forces and they had been implicated in different wrong cases.

They said that Balochistan University had become headquarter of Frontier Corps (FC) that was allegedly making students subject of worst harassment.

They claimed that Zakir Majeed student of Psychology was allegedly whisked away by government agencies on June 10th, this year and still he was in their custody.

They said that Sami Mengal a student of Geology department who was a position holder was arrested by security forces and he was implicated in fabricated cases. However, after three months in jail he was acquitted by court but he was again kidnapped by government agencies and his whereabouts were still unknown.

They alleged that students of Geology and Pharmacy namely Abdul Hayee Baloch, Naseer Jattak and Mujeeb Muhammad Shahi were allegedly arrested by security forces on November 9.

They alleged that through a well conceived plan Baloch students were being barred from education.

They feared that if their fellow students were not released at earliest their studies would be affected and they would not be able to appear in examinations.

They demanded of the Vice Chancellor of Balochistan University and other humanitarian organizations for taking notice of alleged forced kidnapping and arrest of students.

Strategic Balochistan becomes a target in war against Taliban

Look around Balochistan, and you may not see much. Pakistan's largest province is also its poorest and least inhabited – an expanse of rocky deserts and ramshackle villages where hardy tribesmen live by ancient laws. But to outside eyes, Balochistan's barren sands glisten with hidden value.

Mining companies eye its natural riches: vast and largely untapped reserves of copper, natural gas and possibly oil. Criminals see easy money: the world's heroin superhighway, a network of smuggling trails, cuts through its lonely borders. Foreign governments consider its location: wedged between Iran and Afghanistan, and covering two-fifths of Pakistan, Balochistan occupies highly strategic real estate.

But for the black-turbaned clerics commanding the Afghan Taliban, the desolate province offers something else: a welcoming rear base. As the Taliban insurgency oozes across Afghanistan, Nato generals complain that the fighting is being directed from Balochistan.

In a bleak report to President Barack Obama last September, the US commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, said the "Quetta shura" – a 15-man war council based in or around the Baloch capital and led by Mullah Muhammad Omar, his deputy Mullah Baradar and his military commander Abdullah Zakir – was dictating the pace of the war. It posed the greatest threat to western troops, and was already planning for the 2010 fighting season, McChrystal said. "Afghanistan's insurgency is clearly supported from Pakistan. The Quetta shura conducts a formal campaign review each winter, after which Mullah Omar announces his guidance and intent for the following year." Yet efforts to break up the Taliban's Pakistan sanctuary have so far been concentrated to the east, in Waziristan. Here, CIA-led drone strikes hit al-Qaida and Taliban hideouts, while the Pakistani army battles with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan – a militant faction that strikes Pakistani cities with suicide bombs. On 17 December, drones fired 10 missiles at a house in North Waziristan, killing at least 12 people.

But in Balochistan militants broadly known as the "Afghan Taliban" operate without fear or hindrance. The long and largely unpatrolled border touches Kandahar, Zabul and Helmand, where almost 10,000 British troops are stationed. Commanders there complain that the Taliban are supplied in men, weapons and bomb parts from Balochistan. But British diplomats are strangely silent, worried that criticism could jeopardise counter-terrorism co-operation with Pakistan.

The Americans, however, are taking a more direct approach. Obama's announcement of another 30,000 troops for Afghanistan has triggered a diplomatic offensive across the border in Pakistan. Officials including the CIA director Leon Panetta and the military chief, Admiral Mike Mullen, have visited, urging Pakistan to act forcefully. Specifically, they want action against Sirajuddin Haqqani, a warlord with a network of fighters in North Waziristan. They also want to extend the controversial drone campaign to include the Quetta shura in Balochistan.

"It makes perfect sense to focus on Balochistan, which has been largely neglected until now," said Art Keller, a former CIA case officer who worked in Pakistan in 2006. "The question is how."

Such talk deeply irritates Pakistan's military. Pakistan officially ended its support for the Taliban in 2001, and since then has become embroiled in a dirty war against national insurgents in Balochistan. But although it denies covertly supporting the Taliban, the military has conspicuously turned a blind eye.

Five years ago, in a shop selling cassettes of Osama bin Laden speeches in Quetta, two young fighters told the Guardian they were enjoying a rest after a busy stint fighting Americans in Afghanistan. Two years later, Balochistan's health minister delivered the oration at a funeral for a Taliban fighter killed in action near Kandahar.

Things have tightened up: the Osama tapes are no longer sold, and holidaying fighters are more discreet. But the safe haven remains. Wounded fighters are quietly ferried across the border for treatment; commanders find recruits in decades-old refugee camps along the border. The violence is spilling into Balochistan itself: last summer Nato supply convoys heading for the border came under attack for the first time.

"The whole war in Afghanistan is being launched from here," said Abdul Rahim Mandokhel, an outspoken senator from Zhob in northern Balochistan. He accuses Pakistan's intelligence agencies of carrying out a "double" policy. "One thing is clear: the area is being used for cross-border offences," he said.

So far, the only western intervention in Balochistan has been covert. A former Nato officer said SAS commandos had raided heroin convoys along the province's unmanned border in 2002, 2003 and possibly later. "The SAS was performing a service to the rest of the coalition," he said, explaining that other western forces were not allowed to attack drug smugglers at the time.

US special forces have also been active along the border, in the tribal belt east of Balochistan. The source said US commando units had conducted four cross-border raids into Pakistan since 2003. Only one, in September 2008, was reported. The first three went undetected thanks to "constant reporting about American spies" in the tribal belt.

The former Nato officer said: "There's so much bullshit out there – the militants blame everything on American soldiers or spies or helicopters. So [when we did act] it was real easy to become part of the background noise." A US embassy spokesman in Islamabad declined to comment.

The new US approach to Balochistan is driven by battlefield realities. By next summer 30,000 western soldiers – a third British, the rest mostly American – will be based across the border in Helmand. Seth Jones, a civilian adviser to the US special forces commander in Afghanistan, said this month that the US must "target Taliban leaders in Balochistan" through an expanded drone strike campaign. Pakistani officials trenchantly oppose the idea.

"We can't fight everyone, everywhere. We need to be pragmatic. And we will not be dictated to," said a senior official with Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), speaking on condition of anonymity. The official admitted that insurgents "do come and go" in Balochistan, but insisted the ISI was already cooperating with the CIA in the province, citing 60 joint raids over the past year.

Drone strikes in densely populated Quetta would be "disastrous", he said, both in terms of civilian casualties and anti-American hostility. "I think this is just pressure tactics, the Americans aren't stupid enough to [extend drone strikes]. But if their objective is to destabilise Pakistan, that would be a good way to do it."

Analysts say Pakistan is playing a complicated strategic game – fighting the "bad" Taliban in Waziristan, but secretly allying with the "good" militants attacking Afghanistan. "I can imagine the Pakistanis symbolically allowing the Americans to take out a few guys from the Quetta shura," said Rifaat Hussain, a defence studies professor at Islamabad's Quaid-I-Azam University. "But I can't see them entirely turning the tables. Pakistan's main concern is not to burn its boats with all shades of the Taliban."

The reason, he said, is India. Fearing Indian influence in Afghanistan, Pakistani military planner see the Taliban as their ticket to influence once western forces depart. Obama announced a US withdrawal starting mid-2011.

"They see these guys as their allies in the post-American scenario – a strategic asset to be used when power is up for grabs in Afghanistan," he said.

American officials are becoming aware of Pakistani concerns. "Increasing Indian influence in Afghanistan," McChrystal wrote, "is likely to exacerbate regional tensions and encourage Pakistani countermeasures." A former US official said the Obama administration was aware of a possible backlash, should drones start hitting Balochistan.

But, the source added, there is a growing recognition that "if we are serious about going after targets in Balochistan, particularly Quetta, then we'll have to do it ourselves". And, he added, should military casualties continue to rise across the border, drones could be sent in regardless of what Pakistan's government says.

"We've already established that precedent with the Pakistanis," he said. "We told them: 'We want you to do this.

"But if you won't, we will. So get out of our way'."

Home to 7 million people, the province of Balochistan occupies 43% of Pakistan's land area. Mostly desert and mountain, it is rich in untapped resources: natural gas, uranium and possibly oil. Since 1948 ethnic Balochs have demanded greater autonomy and more control over revenues from their gasfields, and the Pakistani government has put down four insurgencies; the fifth and current rebellion started in 2003, led by the Balochistan Liberation Army.

There are small Baloch minorities in eastern Iran and south Afghanistan. But north Balochistan, along the Afghan border, is largely inhabited by ethnic Pashtuns, who have different preoccupations. The provincial capital, Quetta, is widely assumed to be the HQ of the Taliban and al-Qaida in their war against Nato in Afghanistan – the US has flown drone aircraft from a desert strip in Balochistan.

Raisani should apologize to the aging mothers of the missing persons for deeply hurting their sentiments

The Balochhal:If historians and journalists were waiting for a haunting quote from Balochistan’s chief minister,here it comes. Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani, the chief minister, astounded everyone in Khuzdar during a press-talk by saying that that most of the missing persons had “deliberately gone underground to malign the country’s intelligence agencies”.If former military dictator General Pervez Musharraf’s infamous quote, ” it is not the 70s that you will hit and run…We will hit you in a way that you don’t know what hit you”, has become one of the most widely quoted statements of a man who devastated Balochistan, one can assertively predict that this statement of Chief Minister Raisani will go down in the history as the most disgraceful proclamation ever made by a Baloch chief minister.

The chief minister repeated what was once said by former dictator General Pervez Musharraf and subsequently by Rehman Malik, the current interior minister, that the missing persons had willingly gone abroad. Gone abroad? For what? He said the elements responsible for target killings were also responsible for hiding their associates and then show them as disappeared people. In his words, the missing persons have deliberately gone underground and now the issue is being raised to embarrass the country’s intelligence agencies. Raisani, the fist chief minister in the history of Balochistan to be elected unopposed, is of the view that it is unreasonable on the part of the missing persons’ families to hold agencies responsible for the whole mess.

Expectedly, a very emotional reaction has come from the families of the missing persons in response to the chief ministers’ statement. If the government cannot deliver justice to the families of the missing persons due to its inefficiency and powerlessness to check the influence of the secrete services then it should at least hurt the sentiments of the mothers, sisters, wives, daughters and sons of the missing persons. Once living a dignified and peaceful life inside their homes, these Baloch mothers are seen languishing from one press club to the other while holding the photographs of their beloved ones. Politics is one thing but no one, including the chief minister, has the right to insult human feelings to give a cover up to his government’s inefficiencies.

Government stance on the issue of disappeared people’s has varied from time to time due to its very ’sensitive’ nature. No county in the world has such a high number of missing persons as Pakistan. Majority of them belong to Balochistan. When civil society organizations raised the issue very vocally, the government of Pervez Musharraf refuted such reports and said there were no missing persons. When pressure mounted after the family members of the missing persons coordinated with each other and organized themselves, they emerged as a loud and powerful voice. Amana Masood Janjuha in the Punjab and the family members of Ali Asghar Bangulzai in Balochistan must be applauded for pioneering the movement for the recovery of missing persons.

When the cat was out of the bag during Musharraf government, the Chief Justice of Pakistan Ifthakar Mohammad Chaudhary took suo moto notice of several missing persons’ cases. It was in fact a very selective process of dispensing justice because no Baloch gained relief out of the initiatives taken by the CJP. Yet, the CJP was sacked by Musharraf on the issue of missing persons which manifested the power of the forces that are masterminding these cases of disappearance.

At another stage, former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Sherpao, confirmed with the media in Turbat (Balochistan) that some four thousand people were missing in Balochistan. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) also quoted these figures in its comprehensive fact-finding report on Balochistan.

Inaction led to frustration. The Baloch Liberation United Front (BLUF) kidnapped an American national, who was heading the Quetta office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), in February this year solely to press the government of Pakistan to release around 1400 missing or detained Baloch persons and some 141 women allegedly kept in the custody of security forces. That episode also failed to yield any positive results in the case of missing persons.

Worst still, the Chief Justice of Pakistan has completely kept quit on the Baloch missing persons issue after his reinstatement on the prestigious post. Despite belonging to Balochistan, Chaudhary has disappointed the family members of the missing Balochs. Even some key members of the judicial movement that led to the restoration of the deposed chief justice now say they squandered their energies at a wrong place. The movement did not worth it, they say, because it failed to bring justice to Balochistan.

Raisani’s current statement –about missing persons having gone underground –sounds ridiculous given the fact that Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, who belongs to the same party of the Balochistan Chief Minister, issued a verified list of 992 missing Baloch persons this month. Does Raisani have an answer to the families of at least these 992 missing persons? Why would these people go underground as most of them belong to the families that live below poverty line? The missing persons’ list includes people from lower professions such as students, shopkeepers, tailor masters, clersk, paramedics etc.

Besides being the chief minister of Balochistan, Raisani is a reputed tribal chief in Balochistan. Thus, people want to share their sorrows with them with the hope that the latter plays a role to resolve their problems. He should apologize to the aging mothers of the missing persons for deeply hurting their sentiments as these aggrieved mothers now prepare to sit on a hunger strike in front of Quetta Press Club from December 30th amid freezing temperature of Quetta.

Ghaffar Baloch of BSO (M) and his friend abducted from Khuzdar

Khuzdar: an ex-member of BSO (Mohiudeen) has been abducted by unknown armed men. According to details Mr Ghaffar Baloch was driving to home when his vehicle came under indiscriminate fire. According to eye-witnesses around a dozen people already waiting in two white cars at Chamrok have first open fire on Mr Ghaffar Baloch’s car and when he tried to escape and accelerate, the armed men chased him. Finally at some point Mr Ghaffar lost control of his car, the vehicle slipped off the road and went into the Khand Graveyard. The armed men in the two white cars continued firing at them for a while and then came out of their cars. They arrested Mr Ghaffar Baloch and his friends and put them into their cars and drove off to an undisclosed location.

Soon after the firing incident local people gathered and strongly protested against the abduction of ex-member of BSO (M), they demand the immediate release of Ghaffar Baloch and his friends.

On the other hand the chairman of BSO (M) has strongly condemned the injuring and abduction of Ghaffar Baloch. He alleged that Ghaffar Baloch and his friend have been fired upon and abducted by the FC (Frontier Corps). The chairman termed their arrest as state sponsored terrorism saying “Pakistani FC wants to continue the subjugation of Baloch people by target killing and abducting Baloch student and political activists”. He further said there was no difference between the period of dictator Musharraf and the current PPP government. “In fact PPP’s government is more cruel then the Musharraf govt as during Musharraf’s period Baloch were being disappeared only but during PPP govt the Baloch are not only being abducted but they are being killed in cold-blood after their abduction”. He also appealed the BSO members to observe a shutter down protest in Khuzdar today.

Meanwhile NP (National Party) BSO Pajjar and BNP (M) (Balochistan National Party Mengal) has also strongly condemned the injuring and abduction of Ghaffar Baloch and demanded his immediate and unconditional release. The NP & BNP also appealed the trade unions and other business owners to observe a shutter down protest today (21/12/2009) in Khuzdar.

Five Baloch students abducted by MQM

Karachi:Balochistan national newspapers have reported that five Baloch boys residents of Malir in Karachi were on their way to school when they were stopped by the members of MQM ‘an ethnic refugee group in Karachi’, the abductors made sure the boys were Baloch before whisking them away. Hours later four of the kidnapped boys were dumped in a roadside with bruised faces and soaring limbs, they were rushed to hospital by passersby. The fifth boy is still missing, believed to be in the custody of MQM members.

The relatives of the boys say they were shot at and one of them is in a critical condition. The injured boys have been named as Shahnawaz Baloch, Junaid Baloch, Sajid Baloch and Rafiq Baloch. Khalil Baloch son of Qadir Bux Baloch is still missing, believed to be in the custody of MQM armed men.

A Baloch woman resident of Malir speaking to radio Gwank said that their locality was under indiscriminate fire by “Mohajirs” refugees. She said their has always been tension between the Baloch and these Mohajir but in the recent days/after the issue of Gutter Baghicha they have escalated their actions against the Baloch in Karachi. She appealed the Baloch parties and resistance organisations to come to the aid of Baloch in Karachi.

On the other hand the acting president of BNP Mr Jahanzeb Jamaldini has said in a statement that if the Baloch in Karachi are not safe and not let to live in peace, then the Urdu speaking people all over Balochistan will have to face the consequence of targeting the Baloch of Karachi.

A government allied party accused of attacking native Baloch settlement in Karachi

Karachi: Independent sources from Karach’s oldest Baloch settlement "Saddique Village" reported that member of MQM; a government associated party, have attacked the village and opened fire with automatic weapons. The sources further said that the firing started three days ago, when an alleged member of MQM was found dead in the adjacent of the village (Siddique village).

Siddique village has constantly been under fire from the MQM members for last three days. There is a fear and anger among the residents of the village. Many believe if the government don’t take action against these culprits and their party. The people of the village will be forced to react in their defence which could further deteriorate the situations.

Baloch political parties have strongly condemned the MQM for attacking the village and warned the leadership of the party to act wisely. BNM in a statement said that they didn’t want to confront with the MQM but if this party doesn’t stop the attacks on Baloch villages and targeting innocent Baloch, then the Baloch will have no other option but to defend their people. The statement further stated that the silence of Baloch people should not be considered as their weakness. “Baloch are fighting the state and its powerful army from last 63 year. Armed men prevent hoisting of Pakistani flag in Pasni, 2 FC men injured in Khuzdar attack

PASNI: Unknown masked armed men stopped on gunpoint the peon of a local school to hoist the Pakistani flag in the coastal town of Pasni.

According to the details, armed men stormed into Government Higher Secondary School Pasni and brandished a gun to Mohammad Tariq, the school peon, and stopped him from raising the school flag. They warned that anyone who dared to raise the Pakistani flag on a building in Pasni would be punished and would be responsible himself for such extreme measures.

The two masked men took away the flag and vanished in thin air.

Disillusioned young Balochs have stopped singing the national anthem or raising the Pakistani flag in the Baloch-dominated areas of the Balochistan after the killing of three Baloch leaders, Ghulam Mohammad Baloch, Lala Munir Ahmed Baloch and Sher Mohammad Baloch. The killing of these three leaders sparked a massive wave of resistance and anguish among the Baloch youth.

2 FC personnel injured in Khuzdar ambush

QUETTA: Two personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) were injured on Thursday in Khuzdar district after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a routine patrol party. The FC team came under attack in Zehri area of Khuzdar while on a routine patrol. The attackers opened fire on the FC team and injured two personnel. The FC retaliated, but the attackers managed to escape. The injured officials were moved to a hospital where their condition was reported to be stable. Following the incident, the FC cordoned off the area and began a search for the attackers. At least five suspects were detained by the FC in connection with the attack. No group has so far accepted responsibility for the assault. In a separate incident, unidentified attackers ambushed a passenger bus in Parango area when it was on its way from Khuzdar to Larkana. The attack injured three passengers. Also, the Khuzdar district government banned pillion riding and public gatherings under section 144 as part of security arrangements for Muharam

BLA threatens to dismantle drug mafia’s networks

QUETTA: The underground Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has warned the drug mafia to stop its activities in Balochistan or prepare for punitive action.

The warning was issued on Thursday in a circular disseminated in Shaeed Khalil Sumalani Press Club Mach in Bolan district.

According to the fresh warning, the BLA has accused the drug mafia of destroying the younger generation of the Balochs by pushing them into drug addiction in order to make more money. The militant shadowy organization said if the drug business was not stopped at once in Bolan region, elements responsible for drug business would be attacked and punished.

The banned organization, which has been working for the independence of Balochistan through an armed struggle for the past many years, asked the drug smugglers to take a leaf out of BLA actions against the drug traffickers in Mekran region where they were attacked and forced to give up the business.

“If action is not taken to stop the drug business in Balochistan, BLA will punish all those responsible for promoting a drug culture in Balochistan,” warned the circular.

Earlier, similar threats had been issued by the BLA in Mekran region against the drug mafia and some attacks had also taken place on the people allegedly involved in drug business.

‘Missing’ Baloch journalist found in police custody

QUETTA: Police said on Tuesday they had arrested a Bolan-based journalist under the Explosives Act.

Rehmatullah Shaheen, a correspondent of a Baloch nationalist newspaper, Daily Tawar, “went missing” on December 8. The newspaper is believed to be the mouthpiece of Baloch militants. Shaheen’s family and journalist bodies protested across Balochistan against his disappearance. Bolan District Police Officer Junaid Arshad confirmed that the missing journalist was ‘now’ in police custody. The police registered a case against the 25-year-old man – known for his anti-government reporting.

Requesting anonymity, an official said: “The case was registered on December 14, but the journalist was missing since December 8.” He said Shaheen, also a Balochistan Students Organisation-Azad member, had also been interrogated in Quetta for his alleged “anti-state activities”. Police seized a grenade from his house in Mach and arrested his brother Mohammad Ali, cousin Muhammad Hassan and a guest, Jan Muhammad.

A friend told Daily Times that the journalist, also a government employee, was serving in the Mach grid station. “Before his arrest, he informed a friend by the phone that the area police chief has summoned him. His family contacted police when he did not return home, but police expressed their ignorance about his whereabouts,” said another friend.

Quetta (online) BRP has stated the killings of 10 innocent Balochs in the result of the dreadful military operations in Dera Bugti and Sui as a powerful slap on the faces of the so-called democratic government. It urged the World Human Rights Associations to take immediate notice on the human rights violation in Balochistan and to play an effective role to stop it. Sher Mohammad Bugti, the spokesman of BRP said that the Package is a conspiracy of fooling the world and to stop Baloch in the path of its freedom struggle. He said the Baloch genocide policies are going on in the so-called political and democratic term. A coalition of Military forces and Tribal head forces while carrying out an operation killed 10 innocent and poor Balochs while 25 people were injured and their domestic animals were killed too. The forces set their huts and houses on fire stealing their goods and domestic animals. He said that the kidnappings of Sangat Sana Baloch and Ghaffar Langau along with the recent operations in Dera Bugti and Kohlu are the continuation of Baloch enemy state policies. He added there was no truth in government claims, Missing people were not brought in public nor the forces had halted their operations in the region. Later on Faisal Bugti, BRP spokesman in Sui claimed 10 persons were killed and 25 injured in the military operations in the outskirts of Sui and Dera Bugti. He said that the government had started acting on the package as its forces along with the tribal head forces carried out a military operation in Dera Bugti and Sui killing innocent lives. He said that according to the last information the military operation is going on in which Gunship Helicopters, Jets and heavy weapons are being used. The dead bodies of innocent people are not being handed over to us by the govt. forces and tribal head forces. He added on one hand the government plays the joke of the “Package” on the other hand it acts on Baloch genocide. He said the World Human Rights Associations should act taking notice of the inhuman violations in Balochistan.

Jamil Bugti slaps Mubashar Luqman at Lahore Airport

Lahore: Jamil Akbar Bugti, Son of Nawab Akbar Bugti slapped famous TV anchor and host of a show on Express News Mubashar Luqman, at Lahore Airport after the anchor used abusive language against Jamil Akbar bugti and Balochistan.

While talking to media Jamil Bugti said that â€œI was standing in the line to get my boarding pass at Lahore Airport, when I reached at the reception, I requested the officer to give me a comfortable seat on plane , the anchor Mubashar Luqman, was standing behind me at that time, he started criticizing me by saying â€œthey take PIA on contractâ€�.

Jamil Bugti said that he ignored the anchorâ€™s remarks but he did not stop and start using abusing language against me and Balochs and showed his hatred against us which he cannot bear and to shut his mouth he slapped the anchor.

Jamil Bugti said that the producer of Mubashar Luqmanâ€™s programme has invited him in his programme a few days back but he refused to go because he do not go to those programmes whose anchorsâ€™ are agents of agencies.

Efforts to wipe or change the historical name of Balochistan

The occupiers fars and criminal zabolis are increasing their numbers in Balochistan more than anytime before, they are migrating into the centres of the developing cities of Balochistan such as Zahedan and Chabahar and pushing the native Baloch people into the margins. These foreigners who are openly supported by the mafia Sepah, Ahmadi nejad and Khameni are involved in destroying our national identity "Baloch"

Recently these zabolis have started thinking of to remove the name of historical Balochistan and currently they are having debates on this issue, these deceitful occupiers and unwanted guests don't even recognise Baloch people as humans living in Balochistan to have a word with about issues regarding their occupied country.

In the recent 30 years the brutality of Zabolis have reached a point where they don't even want to see or hear the name "Balochistan", let me give some examples of the past, when first Persia occupied Balochistan they changed its name into Balochistan and sistan, later on it changed other way around to sistan and Balochistan which is currently in use, and now they dont want Balochistan in it, they probably want it to be only Sistan or Sistan and Zabolistan.

This means their brutalities are not just limited to the people of Balochistan, but now they are threatened with the name "Balochistan" our thousands of years old ancestors land.

In conclusion it means that these persian zabolis show that they have no reason to continue their parasitic life in Balochistan. The occupier fars and criminal zabolis who are dreaming of destroying the national identity of Baloch should learn lessons from the fate of Alexander and the Moghols. Baloch and Balochistan will remain forever the people who will have to leave are the occupiers.

Zabolis should pack their stuff up and get out of Balochistan as soon as possible, they should know whether they are going to semnaan or kashaan but they dont have any place to live in Balochistan.

Arrests of Baloch leaders and siege of towns “gifts” of Balochistan package: AIM

QUETTA: The Anjuman-e-Itehad-e-Marri, a powerful nationalist group of Balochistan, has termed the recent arrest of Baloch leader Abdul Ghaffar Langove and the siege of New Kahan locality in the outskirts of Quetta by the security forces as the ‘gifts’ offered by the federal government to the people of Balochistan under its recently announced Balochistan package.

A spokesman for the nationalist group said the government was dispatching more troops in Balochistan contrary to its promise to withdraw forces from Balochistan. A clear demonstration of such military maneuvering was seen recently when heavy contingent of forces laid a siege of the Marri town of New Kahan.

“The latest developments have come as an indictment to the ruling class that is making void claims of improving the situation in Balochistan. The government has rightly started implementing the Balochistan package by, ironically, besieging the Marri town and then kidnapping Abdul Ghaffar Langove from a Karachi hospital,” charged the spokesman.

He said the Baloch people were not expecting to get developed from the “hungry forces” that even did not refrain from harming the cattle that belongs to the Baloch families. Chief Minister of Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani and his team are trying to become more loyal to the federal government than what they are paid for.

“We believe all those Baloch leaders are equally guilty and culpable who are a part of the government during which the homes of Baloch masses are being searched and civilians are being humiliated at check posts. Baloch leaders who keep travelling to Islamabad and Rawalpindi to become a part of the conspiracy to carry out the genocide of the Baloch people can never be forgiven by the nation,” warned the spokesman.

Expressing anger over the condescending attitude of the Frontier Corps towards the Baloch citizens, the spokesman said the FC had established check posts on five roads that connected Hazar Ghanji area to New Kahan, which now shows a Gaza Strip like picture due to heavy deployment of armed forces.

“Baloch children are stopped and asked ridiculous questions like whether they are Marris or Muslims. The pictures of Baloch leaders are removed on the top of the books the Marri kids carry in their hands. They also forcefully remove the pictures of great Baloch leaders and the flag of Balochistan from different places,” he observed.

The spokesman added that Balochs would never suffice with packages and economic incentives provided to them by the federal government. “Balochs will continue to struggle until the attainment of Baloch independence,” he said

New Package By Old Thugs

In these days Balochistan package is a hot issue in the pakistani print and electronic media ; where government claiming the big changes in the lives of ordinary Baloch people.Pakistani government promised to solve the deprivation of 62 years in this newly package ''Aghaz Haqooq-e-Balochistan''(Begining of Balochistan Rights).Here i would like to mention few points of package.

1)Release of missing persons
2)Immediate stop of ongoing army operation
3)Rehabilitation of 450,000 displaced people
4)Jobs for five thousand graduates
5)Halt of army garrisons
6)Equal share in the NFC award (National Finance Commission Award)

Since the army operation started in late 2000 so far nearly nine thousand people are missing from all over Balochistan including 150 women.They have been picked up by the ISI & MI from ages,no one knows about their whereabouts; either they dead or alive?.The most worrying thing is that after the announcement of package,the series of kidnapping by ISI &MI is continous.Sangat Sana of Baloch Republican Party pickedup on 8th december while Comrade Abdul Ghaffar Langou Baloch has been abducted from a hospital in Karachi on 11th december,instead of releasing government is increasing the numbers of missing person.

Pakistani security forces carried out a major military offensive in Makoran, Washk and Awaran regions of Balochistan, three civilians have been killed and a woman has been injured due to indiscriminate bombing by Pakistani forces;entire Makoran region is in the fire of fierce brutallity of Pakistani forces.Alas!this so called democratic government is unable to stop the operation.But its extending day by day to all regions of Balochistan.

The 450,000 Baloch who were displaced by the pakistani army in the Dera Bugti,Kohlu and adjacent areas who are still waiting for shelter,water,food,medication,education
jobs.In this package government mentioned to rehabilitate the displaced people.But once again situation is getting worse after the ongoing operation in the Makoran region.Pakistani fighter jets & gunship helicopters heavily bombarded the huts and the fields of Baloch people,once again sons of soil turning into refugees in their own homeland,many families migrated to other areas due to the aggression of Pakistani army.

Another interesting point of this package is five thousand jobs for graduates from Balochistan.Before discussing this point i would like to qoute the few lines of an article of Nargis Baloch the editor of ''The daily intekhab''.In that article she mentioned the story of four graduates of ''dera bugti(sui) who went for an interview in the (PIDC House) the head office of Pakistan Petroleum Limited in karachi.On the entrance of the building security personel asked them that why all of you came over here? they replied for an interview,afterwards security personels asked for their domicile documents,when they had presented their domiciles of ''SUI''.The security personnel used abusive language and did not let them in the building for an interview.The fields of Petroleum and Gas are present in the same area of Balochistan where these graduates belongs to but there is no jos for them beacuse they are Baloch.Pakistani state only interested in the resources of Balochistan but damn care about the Baloch nation.Now after the annoucement of five thousand jobs the non-residents of Balochistan specifically from Punjab and Sindh getting domiciles of Balochistan on the will of source and bribe;once they will get the domiciles then Iam 110% sure they will easily occupy all the jobs.

The halt of army garrisons is also the part of the package and the Frontier Corps will replace the regular army.Both considerations are not trustworty.Because the government only temporarily stoped the construction of cantonments;but they could restart the construction at anytime without taking the Baloch in confidence.Secondly there's no difference between FC and the regular army,both are the same thing by different names.In the recent past both were equally involved in the heinous crimes against the Baloch nation.Frontier core indiscriminate firing on the peacefull protest in Turbat and Tump respectively are the best examples of state terrorism where Altaf Buledi and Mukhtar got martyred and many injured during the time of same so called democratic government.

In the last line i only like to mention the report of the last NFC award which is just approved yesterday,readers can easily understand how equally they distributed the financial resources among the provinces.The overall percentage of the provinces in the resources would now be Punjab 51.74%; Sindh 24.55%; NWFP 14.62% and Balochistan 9.09%.

This new package is in actual a new tactic of the state against the Baloch nation,pakistani forces are badly defeated by the Baloch freedom fighters,now they want a certain period of time for their forces to counter back the freedom fighters and also divert the minds of Baloch nation and calm down the anger;they want to keep us slave for another 62 years.

Pakistan's "anchrocarcy "

News One, a Pakistani private news channel, invited me last night to speak in one of its one-hour talk shows. The topic of the discussion was Indian's involvement in Balochistan and the state of security in the province. The reason I agreed to speak in the show, despite knowing that it is the same channel that provides time and space to lunatic "Pakistani nationalist" Zaid Hamid, was because the anchorperson said he was an ex-colleague from Daily Times.
As the talk show began, the anchorperson expected me to confirm that India was responsible for the mess in Balochistan. I said no. He interrupted and said but there was solid evidence. I said that had never been presented publically.
"So are you trying to say India is not involved in the affairs of the Balochistan," he asked for the third time.
" No," I said, " Balochistan is an indigenous issue."
"Malik sahib," he interrupted me for the fourth time," speak as a journalist. Be objective. Now tell me, is India destabilizing Pakistan via Balochistan or not?"
"Well, I come from the school of thought that believes Balochistan is an internal matter of Pakistan. India never directed Musharraf to kill Nawab Bugti nor was the plan for 'missing persons' prepared by RAW," I snapped.
I was interrupted again. It was the forth rude interruption.
"Malik sahib we don't want someone from a 'school of thought'. We want someone to tell us the actual ground situation from Balochistan. Tell us the "facts" how India is supporting the Baloch movement?"
This time I was annoyed. I protested.
"Mr. Amjad [name of the anchorperson] why are you trying to put words in my mouth? Why are you not allowing me to speak? Why do you keep interrupting me? Please don't expect me to give replies as you desire," I said.
As I refused to give answers as they expected, the news channel conceitedly cut me off air. On the other hand, another participant in the same talk-show from the government side who was "100% sure" about India's involvement in Balochistan, was allowed to speak throughout the show.
Of course, I was not disappointed by this attitude of the 'anchrocarcy' in Pakistan. I only came to know why Islamabad fails to understand Balochs and Balochistan. They think everyone is a purchasable commodity. I am sorry. I am not the right person to take online next time. No India-Israel-Jewish-bashing can I do. Wrong number.

Balochistan Human Rights Activists Association:Appeal to free Ebrahim Mehrnehad

Mr Ebrahim Mehrnehad is the younger brother of late Mr Ya'qoub Mehrnehad a well known Baloch journalist, blogger and human rights activist who was executed on 2008. Ebrahim Mehrnehad was arrested in March 2008 when he was 16, since last twenty months Ebrahim Mehrnehad has been held in Zahedan Central jail the province of Balochistan, Iran and in Kerman jail without access to lawyers or his family. Ebrahim was arrested because he continued in the same path as his brother to high light human right situation in balochistan.

He was sentenced to 5 years of prison in a secret and unfair trial conducted by Iranian authorities in Zahedan city on charges of acting against national security and spreading so called anti-government propaganda. The same charges were used to convict his brother, Ya'qoub Mehrnehad to death, who was later executed.

This is yet another in a long string of repressive actions by the Iranian regime against Baloch people.

Balochistan Human Rights Activists Association (BHRAA) appeal to Ms Navanethem Pillay, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Margaret Sekaggya, Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders, and Working Group on Arbitrary Detention urge Iran to immediately release Mr. Mehrnehad from prison. We in the BHRAA highly appreciate any action taken by the international human rights bodies. We also believe that these actions will have positive effects.

Comrade Abdul Ghafar Langou Baloch abducted from Karachi

Karachi: Balochwarna has learnt that Comrade Abdul Ghaffar Langou Baloch has been abducted from a hospital in Karachi. Sources close to Mr Langou said that he was in Karachi for his wife’s treatment. Earlier today (11-12-2009) the personal of Pakistani intelligence agencies have abducted him from the hospital & and shifted towards unknown location. His wife has been left stranded in hospital as at the time of abduction Ghaffar Baloch was the only person with her.

It must be noted that Comrade Ghaffar was first arrested in 2000. He was rearrested in 2006 in Mongochar area; Both times he suffered severe mental and physical torture at the hand of Pakistani Military Intelligence and Intelligence agencies. Comrade Mir Ghaffar Langov was released on Friday 8 May 2009, after years of illegal detention. Now he has been abducted again for the third time.

Few days back a leader of BRP Sangat Sana Baloch was abducted from Kolpoor areas of Balochistan and his father has already alleged that his son has been kidnapped by the Pakistani intelligence agencies. It is interesting to mention that these two Baloch young men have been abducted after the government has announced the so called package and withdrawing of case against Baloch activists.

Human Rights Day observed in Balochistan & Karachi

Quetta/Karachi: Thousands of Baloch political activists, students and families of missing person have taken to streets to observe the Human Rights Day in Quetta, Chaghai, Kharan, Sibi, Panjgur, Noshki, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Hub Chowki, Mastung, Kalat, Gwader, Turbat, Naseer Abad, Jafar Abad and in Baloch populated areas in Karachi. The largest protest rally to commemorate the UDHR (Universal declaration of Human Rights) was held in Quetta. The Voice for Missing Baloch Persons, BSO-azaad, Baloch Rights Council (in Karachi) and BNF had given the call for protest rallies on 10 December to protest against the ongoing military operation, forced-displacements and force-disappearances in Balochistan.

The demonstrators were holding the pictures of abducted Baloch activists, placards which read; UN SHOULD TAKE NOTICE OF ILLEGAL ABDUCTION OF BALOCH MISSING PERSONS, INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANISATIONS TAKE NOTICE AGAINST THE VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN BALOCHISTAN, and they were chanting slogans ‘demanding’ the immediate release of Baloch political activists. They said that the families of missing persons were suffering from financial and mental trauma due the absence of their loved ones. The agony even grew stronger after some of the abducted persons were killed while in detention.

A large number of Baloch women and children took part in demonstration to show their anger toward the Pakistani and Iranian regimes for the atrocities they are committing in Balochistan. The protesters called upon International Community, the UN and International Human Rights Organisation to take notice of the Human Rights violations in Balochistan.

The leaders of political parties, students and relatives of Baloch force-disappeared persons while speaking at the occasion said that their loved ones have been missing for several months and they were not aware of their situations and whereabouts. The participants of the protests strongly rejected the Pakistani government’s announcement for withdrawing cases against the Baloch activists. They said that none of the missing persons name was on the list that government of Pakistan released recently.

The Baloch demonstrators expressed their sadness by the silence of International Community regarding the mass-murder and mass-abductions of Baloch activists by the Iranian and Pakistani security forces. They said by law a person should be produced to a court with 24 hours of his/her arrest but their loved ones had been missing for years and months , yet they are being denied any legal representation and their family member are not told about their whereabouts.

They also strongly condemned the ongoing military operation and houses-to-house searches in Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Sarwan, Jhalawan, News Kahan and Rakhshan in Balochistan and demand from the government of Pakistan to halt the military operation. The Baloch Organisation appealed the Amnesty International, International Human Rights Organisation, The UN and other Rights bodies to take notice of Pakistani and Iranian security forces atrocities against the people of Balochistan.

The deadly operation continous in makoran,washk and awaran region of pakistani occupied Balochistan,reported three civilians killed and one woman injured.The spokesman of ''Baloch liberation front'' Basham Baloch said online news agency through a satellite phone that occupying forces extended the operation in the makoran regions of migor,kashaz,chagomaran band,tump and dasht and surrounding areas.Pakistani forces bombarding continously reported three casualities while forces started a search operation in the washk region they have tortured a Baloch woman named '' Mah Bibi'' who is severely injured.He further added that forces started a wide spread operation against freedom fighters but the freedom fighters safely reached to the safe places.

In recent clashes freedom fighters killed eight security personels many reported as injured.BLF spokesman also claimed that these packages alaraming the huge operation in the awaran and adjacent areas,these all areas completely seized by occupied forces and spy jets appeared in several area's.They will not be succeed to stop the freedom fighters,we got the support of entire Baloch nation.The enemy forces will be defeated in every town and street.We warn the so called state this ongoing operation will be destructive for you.Our fight will be continous untill the independent Balochistan.

As the world marks International Human Rights Day this 10 December, Pakistan and Iran should be urged to respect the Human Rights of the Baloch.

International Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on Dec. 10 to commemorate the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The declaration has become a universal standard for defending and promoting human rights. The first sentence of the declaration reads: "The recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world." The declaration remains one of the most important documents ever created. It represented the first clear formal statement of the fundamental rights to which all humans are entitled. Guinness World Records describes it as the world's ''Most Translated Document''.

Does this declaration protect the rights of occupied Nations or stateless Nations?

The oppressed and occupied Nations continue to suffer at the hands of member states of the United Nations. Balochistan is one such stateless Nation that has long been under siege and attack by occupying countries that are signatories of the United Nations.

Due to the lack of international media coverage and international recognition, the Balochistan conflict is known as the “Forgotten Conflict”. The Baloch people’s struggle for independence, and against the illegal occupation of their sovereign state, continues till this day. Balochistan was first occupied and divided by the British in 1839. Later, two artificial British-drawn borders, the Goldsmith Line and the Durand Line, sliced Balochistan into three pieces. Northern Balochistan and Western Balochistan were given to Persia and Afghanistan respectively, and Eastern Balochistan (Pakistan-occupied Balochistan) remained independent and maintained treaty relations with the British. Balochistan was never a part of British India, Persia or any other empire or countries.

In 1947 when the British concluded that they could not rule over a united India, they came up with the idea of building a separate state for Muslims. The “Two Nation Theory” was proposed to serve this purpose, and India was subsequently divided in the name of religion. A new state was carved out of India and named Pakistan, meaning the land of pure, though many may argue that its purity is doubtful.

Before the partition of India and the withdrawal of the British, the Baloch were given three options: (1) join India, (2) join the upcoming Pakistan or (3) remain independent. The Baloch, of course, chose to maintain their sovereign state.

On 11 August 1947 the British, India and the upcoming Pakistan administration declared Balochistan’s independence. On 13 August 1947 India was granted independence and on 14 August 1947 Pakistan was carved out of India and declared a country. On 15 August 1947 the ruler of Balochistan, “The Khan,” formed the two houses of Baloch parliament, “The House of Commons and The House of Lords”. Balochistan’s independence, however, was short-lived as newborn Pakistan, within 9 months of coming into existence, occupied Balochistan; the rationale used to justify this occupation was the idea of shared religion. The so-called founder of Pakistan, Mr. Jinnah, also known as Mohammad Ali Jinnah by Pakistanis, had invited the ruler of Balochistan to join Pakistan. On 16 December 1947 the Khan called a joint meeting of the Houses and put the matter before them. The Balochistan parliament overwhelmingly rejected the idea of joining Pakistan and opted to remain independent.

On 27 March 1948 the Pakistani army invaded Balochistan and held the Khan and his family members hostage in their own palace. That same year, while the Universal Declaration of Human Rights proclaimed a people’s right to “The recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,” the independent state of Balochistan was occupied at gunpoint--a sheer violation of the Baloch people’s Human Rights and their right to freedom and justice.

In late 1948, the Baloch people initiated the first revolt against the illegal occupation of their motherland. In fact, it was the younger brother of the ruler of Balochistan, Prince Abdul Karim Khan Baloch, who led the revolt and fought occupying forces. The struggle to regain Baloch sovereignty has erupted intermittently thoughout the years and continues till this day. The Baloch people’s only desire and demand is their right to independence and the Baloch are determined to continue their struggle until such time that Balochistan is free once again. After the initial revolt in 1948, Pakistan has come into open conflict with the Baloch on four occasions: 1958, 1962-63, 1973-77 and the current ongoing conflict which started in early 2000.

Hundreds of thousands of Baloch have been killed since the occupation in 1948 and many hundreds have been made homeless, now living in neighbouring Pakistan and Afghanistan under appalling conditions. International aid agencies have been denied access by Pakistani authorities to help the displaced people of Balochistan. Unfortunately, the UN seems unconcerned by Pakistan’s actions towards the Baloch, and uninterested in helping Baloch refugees.

It was during this most recent conflict that many top Baloch leaders were murdered, along with thousands of innocent Baloch women, children and elderly. Among the top Baloch leaders assassinated during Musharraf’s dictatorial regime and the current so-called elected PPP government, were Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, Nawabzada Balaach Marri, Dr. Khalid Baloch, Ghulam Mohammad Baloch, Lala Munir Baloch, Sher Mohammad Baloch, Rasool Bux Baloch and, most recently, Nisar Baloch in Karachi. At present, 8,000 Baloch political activists, students and ordinary Baloch are reported missing. The families of abducted Baloch claim that they have not been told about the situations of their loved ones. None of the forced-disappeared Balochs have been presented in any court, or allowed any legal representation.

Even today as I write this article, a military offensive is taking place in Balochistan and people are disappearing. According to latest reports, the Pakistani military is preparing for a military operation in the Makoran region of Balochistan.

I am upset by the silence of the International Community regarding the atrocities committed in Balochistan by Iranian and Pakistani security forces. Baloch are killed and executed under sham pretexts and labeled drug dealers or enemies of GOD in Iran and outlaws or miscreants in Pakistan. Yet, the USA, the EU and other democratic powers take no action against Pakistan and Iran. The Baloch need their moral support and it is the ethical responsibility of these champions of Human Rights and democracy to raise their voices against the human rights violations in Balochistan.

Pakistan is deceiving the International Community, especially the West, claiming to help fight the “War on Terror”, while committing heinous crimes against the people of Balochistan. Baloch nationalist parties allege that the weapons and other resources Pakistan receives to fight the Taliban are instead being used against the secular Baloch people. The international War on Terror is more like a give and take business, it’s being used as “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours”.

The Baloch and other oppressed Nations are the invisible victims of the War on Terror. The member states of United Nations are suppressing the genuine struggle of occupied Nations whereas the UN is reluctant to take action against these states. It is high time that stateless Nations like the Baloch, the Tamils, the Kurds and others are given fair representation in the UN to make their voices heard across the globe. The UN, instead of covering up the crimes of member states, must take actions against them. If solutions lead to the dismemberment of such states, the UN should not hesitate to support this.

On this International day of Human Rights the Baloch urge the UN and other International Human Rights Organisations to pressure Pakistan and Iran to put an end to human rights violations in Balochistan. Pakistan and Iran must be urged to respect the human rights of the Baloch people. The articles of UDHR apply to the Baloch, as much as any other oppressed Nation. If the world wants to honor the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, it must respect the rights of the Baloch people, as well.

The Baloch urge the honourable UN secretary General Mr. Ban Ki Moon to recognise Balochistan as an occupied territory under the Geneva Convention and use his good office to emphasise to world leaders that they should take notice of the gross human rights violations committed by the fascist regimes of Iran and Pakistan against the Baloch people.

Govt agencies kidnapped my son, charges BRP leader’s father

Quetta: Father of central leader of Balochistan Republican Party (BRP) Sangat Sana Baloch has accused government agencies for alleged abduction of his son from Kolpoor area on Monday.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club on Tuesday, Jan Muhammad Shawani resident of Mastung alleged that his son Sangat Sana Baloch was going to Jacobabad along with Naseebullah Shawani and driver Qambar Baloch when personnel of government agencies in plain clothes whisked them away. However, they later handed over Qambar Baloch to police while whereabouts of Sangat Sana and Naseebulla were still unknown.

He further alleged that earlier an attempt on his life was also made by personnel of law enforcing agencies near Mastung.

He said that Sangat Sana Baloch was a political worker and had never been involved in any unlawful activity nor he had any link with Baloch armed groups.

He said that they were extremely worried about his life and if he was not recovered immediately he might be subjected to torture by government agencies. “If there is any allegation against my son, he should be produced before court of law, so that he could prove his innocence”, he demanded.

Jan Muhammad appealed Chief Justice of Pakistan and other humanitarian organizations to play their role and get his son and other Balochs freed who were allegedly languishing in different jails.

Responding to a question, he strongly rejected Balochistan package and claims of release of some missing persons, saying might some people had been released but the incidents of forced disappearances were continued and it was responsibility of government to stop them.

Meanwhile, infuriated activists of BRP on Tuesday blocked National highway, linking Quetta with Karachi at Kadkoocha area, by placing stones and barricades on the road to protest against alleged kidnapping of BRP leader. The blockade of highway caused inconvenience to commuters.

Deadly operation in Dasht

According to reports (BUC news) jet plane bombardments and many explosions led a sense of fear in the environment of many areas in Dasht. Extreme opposition by pro-liberation parties, organizations and public are on peak.

Penson, Nokenrah, Mohammadeg, Kashap and several other border areas of Dasht were attacked by Pakistani warrior jet planes against the armed Baloch freedom strugglers on Saturday and Sunday night which continued many hours of bombardment. These deadly explosions were heard in several kilometers distant areas bringing up an environment full of fear. Whereas while expressing their views on Dasht operation, pro-liberation parties, organizations and other locals severely condemned these attacks and appealed the International community to interfere immediately and to reveal the cheat of the given package.
Whereas due to lack of reach to locals and lack of both sided information, non causalities are yet known. According to reports, a threat of large Pakistani forces being enforced in Mand and Eastern Balochistan is being expressed.

Pakistani security forces raid New Kahan

Quetta: Several Pakistani security personal armed with latest weapons have raided New Khan Quetta ‘a Marri Baloch populated area’ on Tuesday evening. According to independent sources and Balochistan national newspapers the Pakistani security forces started a house –to – house search operation in the areas.

The Baloch Women Panel said in a statement that Baloch women and children were forced to stay out of their houses in the cold ‘temperature in Quetta dropped to minus 4’ for several hours. Their houses were searched and door of many house have been broken by the security officials. The BWP alleged that the Pakistani officials have looted people houses and took valuables. The statement also claimed that the FC and other security personal misbehaved with Baloch women and children.

The BWP said that people in New Kahan have not been provided with any basic facilies of medication, clean drinking water and electercity and on top of it the government keeps on raiding the area. Last year during such a raid an innocent Baloch woman Gull Naz Marri was killed and 26 others were injured. Several people have been abducted from New Kahan who are still missing, said the BWP.

The Women Panel spokesperson Mehr Jan Baloch said that it is a shame that on one hand Pakistani rulers talk of the packages and negotiations on the other hand operation against innocent people is still going on in Kohlu, Dera Bugit and other areas. She said it was sad that the International Community and International Human Rights Organisation were silent on such atrocities of Pakistan government in Balochistan.

She urged the UN, and other Human Right bodies to take notice of the going on massacres in Balochistan and put pressure on Pakistani to halt the military operation against Baloch people.

Attacks on Pakistani security forces, six person including four officials injured

Quetta: Balochistan national newspapers reported that Pakistani security forces have been attacked in different areas in Balochistan. The Saryab station house officer (SHO) and two other policemen were injured in a hand-grenade attack on a police van on the Sabzal Road, on Tuesday.

According to police, SHO Jamil Marri was on routine patrol in the area when unidentified persons hurled a hand-grenade at his vehicle. As a result, all three police officials sustained injuries and were admitted to the hospital.

In the second incident a hand grenade was hurled on the house of a Balochistan Constabulary personal Mr Khuda Bux in Mano Jan road region in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan. The blast heavily damaged the house of the official. Three persons sustained injuries as a result.

In a separate incident in Noshki unidentified people threw a hand-grenade on the house of a staff of Live Stock department, Mr Mohammad Tayab. His house was partially damaged due to the blast but no casualty has been reported.

Meantime a powerful blast has been heard in the Mastung Town in Balochistan but the security forces could not locate the exact spot of the blast. Attacks also have been reported on Pakistani security personal in Thump, Mand and Gwader areas. However no losses have been reported so far.

BRP leader Sangat Sana Baloch goes missing

Quetta: Central leader of Balochistan Republican Party (BRP) Sangat Sana Baloch and his colleague have been picked up by Pakistani government Intelligence agencies from Kolpure area of Bolan district some 50 kilometres away from Balochistan capital, Quetta.

According to party leaders including, Central Secretary General of BRP Doctor Bashir Azeem and Rafiq Ahmed Khousa Sangat Sana Baloch was going to Bolan along with his college when personnel of government agencies whisked them away at Kolpure area and shifted them towards unknown location.

They alleged that illegal arrest of Sangat Sana Baloch was a part of anti Baloch policies of Pakistani government.

They said that earlier, leaders of BRP Jalil Reki, Riaz Badini and hundreds of other Balochs were allegedly picked up by government agencies and put them behind torture cells.

It must be noted that Sangat Sana Baloch survived an assassination attempt earlier. Party leaders and well-wishers of Sana Baloch allege that Sangat Sana was attacked by the Pakistani agencies around two months ago.

Letter from Sharry Qambar, daughter of disappeared Baloch Mr. Wahid Qambar

Sharry Qambar is the 14-year-old daughter of disappeared Baloch Mr. Abdul Wahid Qambar. She belongs to the Thump area of Makran region in Balochistan.

On March 14, 2007 her father, Mr Wahid Qambar, was picked up in the Thump area by law enforcement agencies while having a picnic with his friend. After being held in an unknown location for more than a year, Military Intelligence finally conceded his arrest and brought him before a court on charges of drug smuggling. After 15 months of brutal torture, Mr. Qambar was sentenced to 25 years in prison on June 8, 2008. His family claims that Mr. Qambar is very ill due the torture he suffered and demanded that he be transferred to an outside hospital, but jail authorities have denied him this care.

The following letter was written by Sharry Qambar in whih she has expressed her concerns over the visit by Ms. Asma Jhangir, the Chairperson of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, to Quetta, Balochistan, on October 2009.

To whom it may concern:

My name is Sharee Qambar. I am writing this letter on behalf of thousands of disappeared mothers whose sons and daughters were forcefully abducted by the Army Authorities of Pakistan.The violation of human rights in Balochistan and the silence of human rights activists is totally appalling. On October 2009, Asma Jhangir visited Quetta the Capital of Balochistan to investigate the gross human rights violation and to raise the profile of disappeared Baloch Political Activist. To us Baloch, Ms Asma Jhangir have always outspokenly favored the Baloch cause and remained the champion of Human rights violation in Balochistan. She was considered the last of hope for the more than 8000 unfortunate disappeared Baloch political workers. But alas, our feelings were let down by the Chairperson of HRCP Pakistan. Instead of exposing the state terrorism and barbarism unleashed by Pakistan Army on unarmed Baloch people Ms Jhangir made mockery of Baloch people’s resistance against the Army of Pakistan. Ms Jhangir declined to meet the mothers and sisters of disappeared Baloch but took the liberty to ridicule the 8,000 disappeared Baloch. She had the time to openly criticize the Baloch resistance against the Army of Pakistan but she had no time to visit the Prison and Torture Cells where Baloch detainees were kept in Prison under subhuman conditions. She had no time to visit the mothers of detained Baloch prisoners who are desperately waiting for their beloved sons to come home. Some families of detained political workers even made a tearful request to Ms Jhangir to visit those jails where their sons and daughters are being kept illegally and being tortured mercilessly. Instead of bringing the Human Rights Violation on agenda she bluntly stated that she would not support the resistance for a free Balochistan and angrily advised Baloch people that she would not help the Baloch if they talk of independence of Balochistan.

After listening to Ms Jhangir, Baloch ask to the HRCP:

-if it is the stated policy of the Human Rights Organization to force the oppressed people to accept the state sponsored oppressions and tortures and give up the the struggle for just cause?

- if the call for independance by the oppressed people against a tyrant state does qualify for a Human Right?

I demand on behalf of the Baloch nation to the International Human Rights Organizations of the world to take serious notice of the action taken by Ms Asma Jhangir and HRCP.

I also demand that Ms Asma Jhangir should immediately be removed from the Presidency of HRCP due to her controversial and biased performance.

If the above mentioned steps are not taken the trust on any other Human Rights Organization by Baloch people will be abolished.

There is a slow genocide of Baloch Populace is being committed in Balochistan by Pakistan Army and its extension the notorious ISI and MI.

Today every home in Balochistan is burning and the behaviour of Chairperson of HRCP added further fuel in this fire by enforcing her personal and political views on the already oppressed people.

Therefore, it is the humble request to all the Human Rights Organizations of world to put pressure on HRCP to stand against the slow genocide of Baloch nation in Pakistan.

A Baloch’s tale of the torture cell

Shafi Baloch, a student and the Junior Joint Secretory of B.S.O. Azaad, working for the independence of Balochistan has recently been released out of the torture cell after being severely tortured by the Pakistan’s armed forces.He was arrested by Barori Police and later was disappeared and the police denied ever arresting him. He after being released was admitted to a hospital in Quetta where after treatment he was able to tell the methods of torture used in order to create fear in the hearts of the Balochs who are pleaing for the independence of their motherland.

The below quoted are the words of Shafi Baloch:

“ I was arrested infront of Bolan Medical College Quetta when I was returning home after attending a public gatering in the college. At the time i was being taken away I was severly beaten by the officials of Barori police station and was then taken to the police station where I was abused and humiliated in every way possible, they kept on beating me and asking me questions about the contacts I had saved in my cell phone, after being beaten for about two hours I was blindfolded and taken to some higher official where I was welcomed with punches and kicks coming from all the sides, I didn’t knew whether it was police or the army of Pakistan as I was unable to see anything. After asking me several questions regarding India’s, Afghanistan’s and America’s involvement in the Baloch freedom movement and not getting satisfactory answers I was taken to some far place as it took quite a while for us to reach there. Each question was asked with a kick or punch on the sensitive parts of my body but I didn’t knew even bitter things were about to come. As I was brought to this new place I was unblinded in a very dark cell, and I was asked to admit that the students organization (Baloch Student Organization Azaad) I am working for is involved in the armed struggle against Pakistan army, but as our organization is unarmed and I didn’t had any idea of what to reply I was turned naked and hanged upside down for about two days, where I was given nothing to eat, from time to time some guy came and talked with me in Punjabi (language spoken by the ruling ethnic group in Pakistan) and asked to admit that I was a terrorist and getting a negative response he beated me severly. Once an army official who looked quite gentle with beard on his face wrote “Baloch” with a sharp pen on my forehead and then he urinated on that. I was beaten severly by that official and while he was beating me he kept on singing “ Long Live Pakistan”. I was also given electric shocks after the person urinated on face, the electric shocks made me unconscious for a while, but as i came back in my senses further shocks were given so that i may not have a moment of relief.

I was told by an interogator that the cell I was kept in also contained Maulana Farooq Sanjrani, Safar Khan Marri and Hassan Marri (Baloch abductees), and I also heard sounds of helicopters landind and taking off outside the cell I was kept in. I was also able to hear other Baloch friends who were kept in the adjacent barracks as they spoke with each other in Balochi or Brahvi (languages apoken by Baloch people). The torture I faced was inhuman and barbaric, but I still believe myself amonst the luckier ones as their in the cells I came to know of Balochs who were phsically paralysed and many were facing mental illnesses and had lost their mental capabilities. After being severly tortured in the way I mentioned I was again a day blindfolded and was thrown out of a car on some road, I didn’t knew where it was as I was not concious enough to even recongnize people, at the time I was being leaved I was asked not to speak a word of what happened to me or else they would kill me, but today I am speaking to let the world know about the conditions which thousands of other Balochs are facing in the torture cells of Pakistan.”

“We’ve seen this before. They say sorry. Then the military operation intensifies. More deaths, more disappearances, more destruction. I wish they’d stop apologising. Whenever they do, it means something bad is brewing.” This is what a young Baloch writer said to me last year in the wake of President Zardari’s apology to the Baloch people. I was sceptical. Wait and see, he said.

The events that unfolded in Balochistan after the apology – a long list which includes an unabated series of abductions, disappearances, harassment, and torture of students and political workers; intensification of “security operations” in the eastern districts; deployment of the FC in Makkuran; the hair-raising treatment meted out to political leaders Ghulam Mohammad, Lala Munir, and Sher Mohammad (and months later also to Rasool Baksh Mengal) – proved the young Baloch right.

Many would jump in here to say: “But the package calls for an inquiry into their murders…” Yes, Aghaaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan – the name given to the recently-announced ‘package’ for Balochistan – does call for a judicial inquiry into the murders of the three Baloch leaders whose bodies were found thrown in the wilderness some miles from Turbat, mutilated beyond recognition, in April this year. But alas, in the package they messed up the names! (Instead of Sher Mohammad, the package mistakenly says ‘Munir Ahmed’). While the government may pass it off as a ‘typing mistake’, it is telling of the centre’s utter lack of familiarity – indeed its disconnect – with the Baloch context, their leaders and their aspirations.

Considering Pakistan’s unflattering record with regards to parliamentary committees, inquiry commissions and apologies, the government must have been cognisant that this ‘Balochistan package’ must make a break from history and that it must go beyond apologies and promises. Sadly, it does not do so. The language flits between ‘should’ and ‘will’ (with the former dominating), which belies that the ‘package’ is in fact a set of proposals made by individuals in the government rather than a series of measures being taken by the government. Why does the government need to ‘suggest’ or ‘urge’; why does it not act ? Either it does not want to act, or it cannot; and the truth is probably a mix of both.

The authors of the package argue that all issues must go through parliament before they can be implemented (hence the ‘proposal-like’ nature of the package). That is fair. But considering the history of broken promises, particularly in the Baloch context, the ‘package’ should have been announced only once the government was in a position to act on the committee’s proposals.

Let’s move to the content. A glaring flaw in the package – and one of the main reasons for its unanimous rejection by Baloch nationalists – is the refusal to declare or even propose a complete halt to military operations in the province, which is tantamount to ignoring the elephant in the room. Viewed from another angle, the suggestion that the role of “federal agencies” in Balochistan be “reviewed” and “all operations not related to the fight against terrorism” be stopped is at least an admission – coming forth for the first time from official quarters – that there are “operations” being conducted in Balochistan (even though the word ‘military’ is conspicuously absent). Considering that government and military officials have consistently denied the existence of military operations in Balochistan, this is an important, even if inadvertent, admission. However, linking military operations in Balochistan to “the fight against terrorism” or – as can be seen in other ambiguously phrased clauses of the package – continuing to brand the Baloch guerrillas as ‘terrorists’ will only inflame the Baloch and mislead the Pakistani public. The Baloch guerrillas and independence-seeking nationalists reflect popular sentiment: that is a fact that Islamabad must accept. This package shows that we are still in denial.

The language regarding the construction of new cantonments is similarly ambiguous and problematic. The new cantonments in Sui and Kohlu (only) will be ceased “for the time being” and already constructed ones will be handed over to the FC – a highly notorious force in Balochistan which must be withdrawn rather than strengthened if there is to be peace in the province. There is no mention of removing controversial military officials from the posts they have occupied since the Musharraf era. Instead of reducing the number of existing cantonments – which, according to a January 2007 report, include four mega-military cantonments, 52 paramilitary cantonments, five naval bases, and six missile-testing ranges – the package merely states that proposals for new cantonments not be formulated “except in frontier regions, wherever required.”

In some ways, the most disappointing feature of the package is the proposal of ‘constitutional amendments’ to determine the “scope, form, and quantum” of provincial autonomy. The 1973 Constitution – which provided for complete provincial autonomy within ten years of promulgation – does not require amendment, only implementation. Besides, increasing the province’s ‘share’ of revenues generated from its own resources will not resolve the centre-province conflict. It is time for the government to bite the bullet. It must accept that complete provincial autonomy is the minimum necessary step towards repairing decades-worth of damage and exploitation. Regardless of who accepts it and who rejects it, the government must implement it, no strings attached. Over time, this step will reap fruits. It is the only way the federation can work.

On the eve of the package’s announcement, I turned on the television in the hope of hearing some meaningful discussions on Balochistan. Instead, the anchors were merely pushing their Baloch guests to point out “something positive” about the package. If we want to ‘patch up’ with the Baloch, it is about time we stopped pushing them (besides, they’ve already been pushed to the wall). It is us – our state and our government and our people – who need to be pushed. We cannot allow our state to commit another Bangladesh in Balochistan. If we remain silent now – as we were then – the Baloch will be right in blaming us for their misery.

Yousaf Baloch detained several hours for visiting brother’s grave

Mand: According to RadioGwank Shaheed Ghulam Mohammad Baloch’s elder brother Mohammad Yousaf Baloch and some of his guests have been detained and interrogated by Pakistani security forces for the mere fact of visiting the graves of Baloch martyrs in Mand, Balochistan. The Gwank report says that on the fourth day of EID some Well-wishers of Shaheed Baloch came to his brother’s house and asked him to take them to the graveyards.

While they were praying at the graveyard, paying their respects to the Baloch martyrs, four cars packed with Pakistani soldiers arrived there and asked Ghulam Mohammed Baloch’s brother and his guest to lower the flag of Balochistan which was installed on the grave of Shaheed Ghulam Mohammad Baloch. On the refusal they were all arrested and detained for several hours. While in detention they were asked to convince the Baloch people not to install the flag of Balochistan on graveyards and their houses. They also warned Waja Yousaf Baloch not to write the quotes from Shaheed Ghulam Mohammad Baloch on walls.

Yousaf Baloch told them that it was not in his power to stop people from quoting the Baloch martyrs or to stop them from hoisting Balochistan’s flag. “If I tell them to stop doing so they’ll not forgive me” he said. The Pakistani soldiers then said Ghulam Mohammad Baloch is not a saint that you go on his grave and pray. In reply Waja Yousaf Baloch said since when Mr Jinnah (Qaid – e – Azam) has become a saint that you Pakistanis go to his grave, pray and hoist your flag? This reply left them speechless but angry, they then said “go to the graveyard of your Shaheeds when your Balochistan is Free as at the moment it not”. “Our Martyrs have sacrificed their lives while defending their people and for the freedom of our country. We respected them and we will continue to respect and salute them, reiterated Yousaf Baloch”.

After the martyrdom of Nawab Akbar khan Bugti,the waves of hatred against Pakistan spread all over Balochistan. Pakistani regime was day dreaming, they predicted they will takeover Balochistan and continue the plundering of Baloch national resources and supress the Baloch by the force of jet's & bomb.

It was the same time when present Khan of Kalat,Mir Suleman Dawood Khan,called grand Baloch Tribal Jirga after the long period of 138 years, where all the participants of the Jirga had agreed to take Balochistan's case to the International Court of Justice at Hague. After a few months of this Jirga, 2 Nawabs took the oath of loyalty with their homeland; one was elected as a Chief Minister the other Governor by a magic stick. Later on, Khan Kalat flew to Britain along with historical documents/treaties of Balochistan.

The war for Independence is continuing in all over Balochistan. Our brave brothers and sisters are spreading the message of martyrs in every town & village of Balochistan. While Baloch national army sacrificing their lives, about 8000 Baloch prisoners of war are in the torture cells of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

But still Balochistan's case is on pending. Khan of Kalat was out of screen from several months. One day I came to know that Khan applied for asylum in the Britain but his application was rejected by the authorities. Shortly Khan's statement published in Balochistan's newspapers that his asylum is only hurdle in the way of Balochistan's case once its approved he would travel to The Hague and take the case in the International Court of Justice.

God bless her Majesty the Britain Queen that she approved the asylum application of our King Mir Suleiman Dawood Khan. Now the last hurdle of Balochistan's case has been removed by the her Majesty, I hope that Khan Kalat will work day and night for the freedom of his homeland and soon Balochistan's case will be present at Hague in the World Court of Justice.

BALOCH NATIONALIST LEADER DISCUSSES CREATION OF A SECULAR AND INDEPENDENT BALOCHISTAN

Baloch leader Hyrbyair Marri recently gave an interview on the independence movement and growing insurgency in the highly strategic and resource rich Pakistani province of Balochistan (Geo News [Karachi], November 26). Hyrbyair seeks a negotiated withdrawal of the Pakistani military from Balochistan, maintaining that Balochistan was an independent country in 1947 until Pakistani forces occupied the region in 1948.

Provincial autonomy is rejected as “we do not accept that Balochistan is a province of Pakistan.” Hyrbyair is the son of Marri tribal chief Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri. His brother, Balach Marri, a reported leader of the Marxist-oriented and Marri-dominated Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), was killed by Pakistani security forces in 2007 (Balochistan Express, November 22, 2007; see also Terrorism Monitor, April 3, 2008).

Hyrbyair is a former Balochistan MP (1997-2002) and was a minister in the provincial assembly for two of those years. He fled to the UK in 2002, but was arrested and charged with inciting terrorism in December 2007 (Dawn [Karachi], December 12). Supporters of Hyrbyair claim the arrest came at the request of former Pakistan president General Pervez Musharaff, who demanded action on Balochi nationalists living in exile in the UK as the price of further cooperation in the war on terrorism.

An Islamabad daily reported that the new government contributed substantial amounts to Hyrbyair’s defense as part of a program of confidence-building measures with Baloch leaders. Hyrbyair was acquitted on three charges with no decision on a fourth in February 2009 (Crown Prosecution Service Press Statement, March,10)

Compared to the rest of Pakistan, Balochistan is sparsely populated and poorly developed, but Hyrbyair insists that an abundance of natural resources such as oil and gas will provide the economic backbone for an independent state. Hyrbyair suggests a secular Baloch state may also attract the support of the United States. “Secularism is in the nature of the Baloch people and is a part of the Baloch ethos.”

Hyrbyair rejected the past participation of Baloch politicians in Pakistan’s federal government, describing two former Baloch presidents and one prime minister as “paid employees of the federal government.” Baloch politicians who took government posts may have “wanted to do something for the people of Balochistan, but contrary to that, their participation in the political process consolidated the tyranny of the federal government over Balochistan.”

In response to questions regarding the violence of the independence movement and the targeting of Punjabi civilians, Hyrbyair denies having any influence over the movement, which he claims is run by “local Baloch youth,” though he also claims to have no idea who the movement’s leader is. Asked if the independence movement was financed by India, Hyrbyair replied, “I don’t think that it is true.”

The development of the massive new Gwadar port in Balochistan is a major point of contention, with Hyrbyair claiming the port will benefit only Pakistan and not Balochistan. The nationalist leader says local leaders who opposed the development were kidnapped and killed by Pakistani intelligence agencies. Hyrbyair denies that the opposition to the port is being funded by Gulf States that will lose business to the modern facilities being built at Gwadar.

The Urdu language interview came only a day after Hyrbyair and other exiled Baloch leaders rejected a proposal from Islamabad designed to end the longstanding insurgency in Balochistan. The offer called for a cessation in military activities, the release of political detainees and a payment of $1.4 billion in gas royalties over 12 years (Reuters, November 25). The “Rahe-i- Haqooq Balochistan” package included a ban on the construction of new military camps in Balochistan, though two existing camps would remain operational (The News [Islamabad], November 24). Hyrbyair described the government’s proposal as “a mockery and a cruel joke” (The News [Islambad]. November 25).

Two year of the Baloch case in the United Kingdom – bail money still pending?

Exactly two years ago from today in London, three places were raided by the British Anti Terrorism Command (also known as SO15) from the new Scotland Yard simultaneously in the areas of Ealing, Wembley and Hunger lane. Two of the houses belonged to Hybyair Marri a Baloch leader and son of prominent Baloch leader Nawab Khair Baksh Marri. At the time of the raid Mr Marri was residing at his Ealing house and Faiz Baluch was living at the Wembley house. Baloch leader Hybyair Marri and activist Faiz Baloch were apparently arrested on behalf of the government of Pakistan ‘Musharraf’s regime’.

Their arrest took place soon after Shaheed Balaach Marri’s assassination on 20 November 2007; it was probably a good opportunity for the Pakistan government as they had got rid of one Marri and wanted to get rid of the other Marri. From 23 November up to the arrest of Hyrbyair Marri and Faiz Baluch, the British security forces installed secret camera in front of their houses and followed them everywhere. All the well-wishers and friends who had come to pay their respect to Balaach Marri had been filmed by the secret cameras and later the prosecution tried to say that these people were gathering to make some sinister plans.

The Baloch activists were taken to the high security Paddington Green police station for interrogation. Later it came to public notice that they had been charged under terrorism act 2000, there were four charges against each of the Baloch activists, which were as follows; 1) Possession of an article for a purpose connected with the commission, preparation and instigation of an act of terrorism – contrary to section 57 of terrorism act 2000. 2) Collecting information of a kind likely to be useful to a person for committing or preparing acts of terrorism – contrary to section 58 of terrorism act 2000. 3) Preparation of terrorist acts – contrary section 5 of terrorism act 2005. 4) Incitement to commit an act or acts of terrorism – contrary to section 59 of terrorism act 2000. Additionally Mr. Marri had been charged with possessing a CS Gas canister which comes under fire arm act.

After one week of interrogation and isolation Baloch activists had formally been charged and sent to Britain’s notorious, high security prison Belmarsh for awaiting trial to prove their innocence. Belmarsh is the toughest prison and a place for high risk criminals. Mr Marri and Baluch were treated as Category ‘A’ prisoners ‘a threat to general public that means’. An A Category prisoner is not allowed to have any visits without a formal invitation approved by the Home Office, prisoners of this category are also striped searched ‘which is a degrading process, specially for a Baloch’ after any visits to their legal teams, coming back from gym, work or for any reason if they go out from their cells on their way back they are strip searched. Cat ‘A’ prisoners are also locked in isolated cells ‘often known as single cells’.

After spending almost 5 month in prison Mr Hyrbyair Marri was released on bail on very strict conditions, he was not allowed to attend any political meeting regarding Balochistan, he was not allowed to speak to the media, he was not allowed to phone Balochistan, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan, he had to wear a tag at all times, he was not allowed to leave home between 8pm to 8am and he had to report to a police station every day. Same conditions were attached with Faiz Baluch’s bail when he was released a couple of months after Mr Marri release. In addition Faiz had to answer to a “Voice Recognition Machine” call every midnight. Apart from these conditions Mr Marri had paid nearly £300,000 cash as security, that money had been deposited to the court’s account until any decision is made regarding his case, and if Mr Marri fled the country the money would be seized by the government or Court. After any decision regarding the case the money would and should be returned to those who stood as Mr Marri’s security.

However, in Mr Marri’s case that did not happen, in fact the UK government has not paid Mr Marri’s bail money back after his acquittal in February 2008. Although the money was paid by several friends and well-wishers of Mr Marri but after his release Mr Marri paid back to all of his friends with difficulty. All the people who had got their money back from Mr Marri wrote to the CPS and to the court that the money should now be paid to Mr. Marri. The police and court are now denying paying Marri’s bail money using different lame excuses. To Hyrbyair Marri it seems “legal blunder”. He thinks the UK government is still acting on behalf of Pakistani intelligence agencies and to trying to make financial difficulties for him. In the 70s Pakistan confiscated lands, took the vehicles of Hyrbyair’s family in order to weaken them financially and to force them to succumb to Pakistan government pressure. Hyrbyair Marri believes the UK government seems to be doing exactly the same today.

He is determined that such pressure tactics cannot stop him for campaigning for his country’s Independence. He continues to advocate freedom, after his release he has been actively taking part in protests, public gathering and spoke to media regarding Baloch cause. His view is that Balochistan was forcefully occupied and the occupation must come to an end. He believes in dialogue and finding a peaceful solution to Balochistan’s problem but he is adamant that the occupiers of Baloch land must withdraw unconditionally and immediately. He insists that Independence of Balochistan must be a part of any dialogue with Pakistan to resolve Balochistan issue and negotiations must be guaranteed and observed by international guarantors.

Neutral BBC’s one sided attitude

On November 25th 2009, when Baloch pro-liberation leader Mr Hayrbyar Marri’s interview was published on BBC, we couldn’t understand any of his wordings because his full of dust talks were totally different from what all he has been saying to Pakistani private News channels the very same day or previously, where he had reject Balochistan package and quoted in strong words the demand of freedom and not of package and reminded our only destination was getting rid of slavery. Regarding negotiation with the Pakistani government, he cleared we would only negotiate with the Pakistani government when it declares handing over the occupation accepting independent Balochistan, then we could negotiate on the agenda of ‘independent Balochistan’. Expressing his view on the missing persons of Balochistan, his agenda included that Pakistan had forcibly occupied Balochistan and Balochistan itself has been an independent state. Our political prisoners and freedom fighters should be brought out publicly in fact they should be accepted as POWs under international law because we think our freedom fighters are the soldiers of Balochistan army who were made prisoners while they were fighting the enemy force. Therefore they should be treated the same as any ordinary POW of a country is treated by another country.

But the interview published in BBC never consisted of any such views. So apparently such thoughts pop up in one’s mind that what happened all of a sudden to Baloch leader who had openly expressed his agenda in Pakistani news channels but in his interview with the BBC sentences are more but the real points are no-where. In these numerous questions going around the mind, one and the most dominate question was; Baloch leader abandon from his agenda in just a matter of few hours and obliged for negotiations unconditionally (which we think is impossible) OR his true words were stolen intentionally.

Our this confusion was continuous till 2 different recordings of the particular interview were published at the same time on a Baloch website. It included a full interview recorded by Mr Hayrbyar Marri’s team for their records and the interview been published just to get rid from by a BBC journalist which created so much of confusion in the minds of numerous people.

This interview taken on Balochistan package regard, can consist 4 points which are important to be known by this administration. First, Was Mr Marri taken in any confidence regarding this package? Second, How effective or meaningless this package is in Mr Marri’s views? Third, If he rejects this package then what are his demands and if he supports this package then what are the points in this package that are acceptable? Fourth and the last, after the proposal of this package would their be any chances of pro-liberation people to negotiate with the Pakistani officials?

These are the main points which were important at the time but it is simple when a journalist gets a chance of interviewing such a leader it tries to ask questions which it might not be able to publish in its interview but could benefit with them later at an appropriate time.

But the point being felt as an example of dishonesty is, the 11min and 22sec conversation in which Mr Hayrbyar had used the word freedom 11 times on the subject of freedom of Balochistan but BBC’s journalist Haroon Raheed had very skillfully scissor it so that the 2min and 30sec (which was published after being edited by the administration) not even once mentioned the word ‘freedom‘. Similarly the word ‘slave’ and ‘slavery’ were used 4 times in the interview but in the published piece Baloch slaved status was mentioned no-where. Because if the word ‘slavery’ was included, so apparently the demand would’ve been freedom. So the addressed person never bother to feel the importance of publishing Mr Hayrbyar Marri mentioning Baloch nation’s slavery and its end or treatment.

Dishonesty is an evil disease, this is why this journalist not only deprived its listeners from the true answers in fact has kept its administration in darkness regarding Balochistan freedom seekers or at least it is assumed from the interview.

He did include the sentence “We are not in favor of package politics” in this published interview but “We are the demanders of freedom” sentence is forgotten in the answer. Similarly the journalist placed a sentence “Our gates are open for negotiations” during Mr Hayrbyar’s views on the chances of negotiations, but never felt the necessity of including the attached main condition “These negotiations will be held on the agenda of Free Balochistan”. He did question whether being taken in confidence regarding the package but the point where Mr Hayrbyar clears himself and lets a journalist like Haroon Rasheed to record his interview appealing his selection of words for the future, But the journalist demonstrating extreme irresponsibility forgets to include it because in reply he is reminded of his one sided attitude.

Haroon Rasheed questions in the interview; The government says it has negotiated and been in contact with almost all the extremist and fugitive groups regarding the package so did they contact you too? As mentioned before during the answer of this question, as the journalist suffers from dumbness he misuses his position and authority and never publishes the first part of the question in which he had called Baloch freedom seekers as extremists and fugitives. Similarly Mr Hayrbyar Marri’s reply was also edited where he answered shortly “I am not an extremist nor a fugitive, I am a demander of free Balochistan so they never spoke to me”

He did ask Mr Hayrbyar Marri his demands but one of his demand was mentioned half that our freedom fighters (captured) should be treated as P.O.W but why they should be given the status of P.O.W the journalist did not mention in the argument.

Now it is as, someone runs to the acting king’s palace screaming Your majesty step down from your position! His particular demand will be understood foolish until he doesn’t say that the real king is arriving. The particular message which was not important a few seconds before, becomes tough truth when the argument is given causing everyone present to stand up and even the acting king step out from his position. If he does not use the word king so he being a fool would be applicable to death but his one argument make him deserve reward. Argument is the only reason making ordinary talk special and important.

Therefore the journalist has very skillfully squeezed the arguments of Mr Hayrbyar Marri making his strong talks as ordinary words which threatens a cause of confusion among his friends about his personality and his national movement. The specific time or day chosen for the publish of this interview is extremely deadly and dangerous. We can never comment on this that the particular journalist intentionally publish the interview 2 days before the occasion of Eid but it is the truth that due to Eid holidays every news agency was closed causing it not possible to reply this dishonesty based interview where on the other hand everyone was in get together on the occasion of Eid.

Balochistan where fire and burning steel are drizzling and their national leader Hayrbyar Marri’s statements will be the topic of every get together, and the oppositions of Baloch national movement would cheer up saying the freedom seekers have at last given up. The slogan of Baloch national freedom settle down like a foam because Hayrbyar Marri while talking to BBC unconditionally agreed to negotiate with the Pakistani government. Like a phase in Balochi; ’Till truth arrives, false travel a distance ahead’ so till the end of Eid holidays and newspapers being publish, in between at least a week while government machinery and anti freedom seekers would present this interview based on dishonest editing as truth will disappoint people on Baloch national movement.

The intensity of such misleading report on the basis of BBC causing a shock among the Baloch nation specially the pro-liberation Balochs cannot be estimated. In this continuation the impact of a beloved organization like BBC among Balochs will be acceptable as thinking BBC too address the poor victim Baloch as one sided. Because it is no co-incidence to hide or bring any ups and downs in such important questions. This can only be possible in 2 conditions, first the interviewer and the editor is unaware of the importance of the conversation of the person being interviewed and unknowingly selects the needed points or dishonest and sided person who tries to unaffected the interviewers conversation and make his personality suspicious.

Here excuse like lack of time and being in a hurry aren’t important because these terms do not implement on freedom or slavery kind of words.

Therefore we easily come to this conclusion that Haroon Rasheed is not only an unprofessional journalist in fact he has hatred for Baloch national movement and all that he has done is purposely and intentional. Because this fact of taking out the impression of Baloch pro-liberation leader’s strong and straight words making them important or non important and secondary is not a difficult job which not only needs skills and tricks in fact such unfortunate hypocrisy makes one helpless in murdering his conscious, which later on in the form on anxiety makes one’s conscious restless.

Families of ‘missing persons’ protest in Quetta

QUETTA: Several families of “missing persons” protested outside the Quetta Press Club on Wednesday against the “unfulfilled promise” of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to release their dear ones.

The protest rally was organised by the Voice of the Missing Baloch Persons (VMBP). The protesters, carrying photographs of their missing relatives, shouted slogans against the government for not taking tangible measures for the recovery of their family members. Addressing a press conference, VMBP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said the prime minister had not fulfilled his promise. He rejected the government claim that around 20 missing persons had already been released.

Registered: He claimed that the government had not released a single missing person registered with them. According to him, a majority of the people who returned to their homes belonged to the Langov tribe and were released in line with efforts made by a tribal leader, Mir Khalid Langov. “The released Bugtis had in fact never gone missing,” he asserted. “They were held in a jail in Sui,” he disclosed.

Long march: He announced to hold a long march against the government on December 10. He said the march would start from Balochistan University and end at the Quetta Press Club.

“Violation of human rights by the intelligence agencies is taking place in Balochistan despite the presence of a democratic government and a self-proclaimed independent judiciary,” he said, adding that the families of the missing persons would also launch a long march to Islamabad for the release of their relatives.

Baloch said his organisation had compiled data of around one hundred missing persons and was in touch with more families. According to him, prominent missing persons included Ali Asghar Baloch, Jalil Reiki, Dr Din Muhammad Baloch, Abdul Hayee Bangulzai, Zakir Majeed, Chakar Marri, Mushtaq Baloch, Saeed Ahmed Mohammad Hasani, Nazir Marri, Majeeb Baloch, Master Yahya, Najeeb Qambarani, Haider Marri, Iqbal Baloch, Faiz Baloch, Hafiz Saeed-ur-Rehman, Ghulam Mustafa Shahwani, Ghulam Mustafa Sasoli, Attaullah Baloch, Kabir Baloch, Sadullah Baloch, Sami Baloch, Mama Naseer Jattak, Hasan Marri, Shabbir Sumalani, Saifullah Ababaki, Niaz Muhammad, Abdul Karim Baloch, Faizullah Marri, Jalath Khan Marri, Jumma Khan Marri, Liaquat Bugti, Ganju Bugti and Shah Muhammad Zarkon. Balochistan’s Information Minister Younus Mullazai was not available for comment.

The reasons Westerners not interested in Balochistan issue...

Now that the discussion is gaining strength, let us analyse on some short answers of the questions that are going around the minds of people living in the West about the Baloch freedom struggle; What is it that could attract the western eyes to the Baloch freedom struggle? Why is it important for Balochs having their own free land? Why would the West and the civilized world bother their selves for helping the poor Baloch out? How would an independant Balochistan be helpful in maintaining peace in the region? Why is independant Balochistan so important in this region? Do the Baloch have the ability to run their independent new born country? and last but not least, How would an independent Balochistan look like?

All these questions arise in the mind of any Westerner who tries to look at Baloch issue for a moment. We think all these questions are definite and just. Going through the Baloch issue via its real advocates, we find that the answers of these questions are very simple and clear in Baloch minds but their enemy has created circumstances which make these answers complicated and almost invisible in the eye of west.

The secularism of Baloch movement cannot be overruled. Baloch movement is entirely a secular movement and an ordinary Baloch involved in this movement respects the beliefs of all the people around the world. This thing separates them from other extremist backward minded people fighting on non-sense demands like imposing Sharia (Islamic Law) and all. Baloch has a clear vision today for its independent homeland. Its demand are nothing extra-ordinary, just to have a sense of security of its national identity and its thousands of years of culture with its free land. Baloch being the only secular nation in the region is ready as a stable forward thinking nation which can help the civilized world in bringing up any kind of geographical change in the region making it easier to fight terrorism and fight drugs which are the 2 main problems the entire world is fighting against.

Now, the facts that could attract the West in Balochistan are Baloch fighting against the enemies of the West. The West and the civilized world are worried about Pakistan's nuclear assets getting in bad hands, whereas Baloch is fighting against Pakistan who tested these nuclear weapons in Balochistan leaving hundreds of thousands of people suffering health issues and till today no foreign help is let to reach these nuclear test effected victims. The only solution to avoid these nuclear weapons getting into the religious fundamentalists extremists hand is to disintegrate Pakistan and instead keep a new born alley who could assure stability and peace in the region in the absence of US and NATO forces. Baloch is the only and the best option for the West.

On the other hand, Baloch is fighting Iran for its independent Balochistan, (when we say Balochistan, we mean both Pakistani and Iranian occupied Balochistan). Iran with its nuclear program is a great threat to the particular region and to the West. Iran and Pakistan giving birth to religious fundamentalists are the worse future problems the West is concerned of. We dont think we have to tell the westeners more about the threats they face by Iran because we think their media is doing no less in revealing the evil mask of Iran.

Keeping in mind the good relations of Baloch and Afghan, a stabilized Afghanistan is always in the favor of an independent Balochistan because Baloch can offer it use of Baloch coast helping Afghanistan widely in its trade. Independent Balochistan can be used as a platform to fight drugs.

An ordinary view about Baloch national struggle is set by the enemies that after freedom of Balochistan, the tribal heads would not give a dime of Balochistan resources to the poor Baloch. If we analyse the views and statements of all these tribal heads in this movement, we will find that if they were fighting for their selves they would've fought for Sui and Kohestan e Marri, but they are demanding an independent Balochistan where all Baloch will have equal rights. They say Pakistan is spreading such rumors to divide Baloch in the name of tribe and so that they quietly loot Baloch's resources.

Now let us make a short analysis What would an Independant Balochistan look like and How will the Baloch run it?

Now no one else could answer this question in a better way than the only people struggling for their freedom, They have a vision they are dieing for. Everything here is ready to be implement. Balochistan will be a democratic country where religion and politics will be different issues. Balochistan will open its gate for the entire world welcoming them to invest in it and will promote the trend of competition in trade. Baloch will give-and-take with the world in terms of equality. Baloch will respect its friendship with its fellow allies and would never accept any nations slavery. Baloch believes trustworthy friendship is the basic of good work. Any step by Baloch would not be hidden in front of the world. The tricks being played by Pakistan and its friends now, will be buried in sand by the Baloch. Everyone is equal in front of judiciary and the law in the independent Balochistan will be for all. In independent Balochistan, Parliament will have the right to decide every national issue.

Therefore, We think independent Balochistan is very important in any change in this region. Balochistan's independence will help the West find solution to the war it is observing but is afraid to confess it may lose. Baloch are the Ace card of the West in this region. But yet Baloch is a victim of almost no western media coverage.

The only solution of afghan problems

Apparently America had a big gratitude on Russia by removing its missile shield
program from Eastern Europe, because from the beginning it has been opposing it.
However, there are two main reasons behind it which are generally ignored; no one is
willing to turn the debate towards it and both reasons are related to afghan and
Iraq wars. This was the main reason the America brought changes to its missile
shield deployment program in Eastern Europe. The first reason is that the Americans
are, at the same time, directly engaged in two colossal wars in two countries. These
two wars have rendered the Americans into a difficult position along with its
European allies. So in such circumstances, it has economically become difficult for
them to continue this war further more.
Secondly, quite contrary to the expectations, keeping in view the fact that they
might suffer a disgraceful defeat, the Americans and the allies have all now focused
all their attention towards that issue, so that they could attain a comprehensive
solution to it.
As our debate evolves around Afghanistan issue, therefore, we are going to analysis
its different aspects and dimensions so that we could reach to a solvable result.
It is our believe that there is only one solution to afghan issue, that is, unless
America and the world as well, do not think seriously that angle of the issue, then
they will have to seek different solutions of several issues.

A: Then what should be done with Pakistan, Which is fighting simultaneously for
Talban and its allies through state sponsored terrorism? Now the new statement by
the American government that it does not believe that nobody from Pakistanis
leadership knows, where the Al Qaeda leadership sanctuaries are located, besides
this, previous experiences of two years show that whenever a big operation started,
either it ended up in a failed agreement, or terrorists leadership made the save
escape masterly, despite the tall claims of Pakistani army that they have closed all
escape routes.

B: What should be taken of the Pakistan internal problems, that even under a
democratic government; corruption has broken all known record of previous
governments by 400%. Who make it sure that the money been given to it for the war
on terror, would not be wasted like the previous ones?

C: What is the solution of different nationalities within Pakistani federation with
which Baloch and Pashtu states were forcefully annexed as a political bribe by the
then British empire to safeguard it’ future Interests? Not only Pakistan has
failed to keep them, but also it has made every opportunity available for Talban and
Al Qaeda to grow in these areas. In Balochistan the Baloch areas are totally free of
their affects, but how one can make it sure that the Baloch areas are not going to
be affected by this cancer in future?

D: What should be the take of the world community about the involvement of Pakistan
in Iranian atomic weapon programs, where it is most probable that Iran would allow
IAEA experts to inspect its atomic installations, but tomorrow, who predicts that it
would not make an excuse and ask the inspectors to leave the country?

E: The Iranian Islamic ideology, under which the Iranian government is established,
is based on the philosophy of ayatollah Khomeini who said that there were two big
Satan in the world - America and soviets union – the Iranian officials are still
describing America as the biggest Satan, yet about the Russia, which is inheriting
the soviets legacy, the Tehran regime has still not taken back its leader words. The
main reason, why Iran is wedged with Russia is obvious because, it has now become
necessary for it to seek a veto wielding power, which could help her out against

the Islamic extremist elements around the world. Now how this complex formation of
ferocious forces can be unraveled and rendered ineffective, remains to be seen.

G: Both Pakistan and Iran are united not just because of Islamic ideology, but
because of precious Baloch land, which has compelled them to be united. The
unpredictable grim situation of Pakistan has worried Iran beyond its imagination,
lest Balochistan should break away from Pakistan. If it happened so, then it would
be utterly difficult for Iran to contain its own controlled Balochistan from
breaking away! The same could be said about Pakistan comprehension. If a
"successful" attack on Iran by America or Israel, or a rupture from internal
pressure, would surely slash Iran into different independent nation states. It would
further aggravate the situation in Pakistani controlled Balochistan. Therefore
Pakistan would do every thing to strengthen Iranian position.

One may wonder why we are talking about Iran's nuclear program and the relation
between Pakistan and Iran, while the subject we are here dealing with, is about
Afghan issue. It is very simple, because, I think, unless America and the NATO
remained bogged into Afghan quagmire; they would not be able to exert
considerable/appropriate pressure on Iran. Hillary Clinton is justifiably
apprehensive of Iran speedy nuclear program, "world community has no time to allow
Iran any unlimited grace time".

Therefore, it would be folly of the world community if it allowed conditions,
conducive for Iran to prevail for enhancing its nuclear program.

The above mentioned problems are different from that of Afghanistan internal
countless complexities. The unpopularity of karzai government, widespread
corruption, the existence of widen gulf between Pashtuns and other nationalities,
the vacillation of American and NATO military in decision making, ethical
dilapidation, the increasing power of Talban, the financial bankruptcy of America
and its allies, the reluctant of nations other then the allies to assume peace
keeping task, and above all The lake of an alternative ideology to replace the all
powerful Islamic extremist ideology of Talban in Afghanistan, (Because only an
ideology can defeats an ideology, not the gun)

Here the most worrying factor is that, apart from the Iran's internal revulsion and
its atomic program, the unpopularity of Karzai government and corruption in
Afghanistan as will, all other existing problems are directly or indirectly related
to Pakistan! It means Pakistan is the root cause of all those problems, which have
complicated the afghan war and created problems for America and its allies.

In such circumstances there remains only two ways to proceed. Firstly, all the
problems should be regarded separately, and be put into separate categories, and
then the solution should be sorted out; which is a time consuming and daunting task.
Each problem must be thoroughly diagnosis and for each a new strategy should be
chalked out. The second is that all attention should be focused on the main sources
of the problem, which is Pakistan.

But Before focusing all attentions on Pakistan, the question should be kept in
mind why Pakistan is not serious in eliminating the Talban and the Al Qaeda?, What
is its weakness, which is urging it to create problems in Afghanistan, about Which,
afghan president and American officials have often been heard that Pakistani secret
agencies are involved in deteriorating the situation.

It is our firms believe that unless the Americans and the entire world do not
comprehend the minor fact, the solution of Afghanistan problems and forcing Pakistan
to stop its involvement in it, remains an unattainable desire, and that minor fact
is that Pakistan never wants a prosperous Afghanistan exists next to its door as it
poses a existential threat to it. In the prospect of a prosperous and developed
Afghanistan, the Pashtuns (as they call themselves Afghani) would never want to
remain with another country.

In this scenario, secondly, the Baloch would never relent, unless their identity is
threatened. If the independent and democratic Afghanistan allowed Baloch( the
Baloch who are living on their own land within afghan federacy) to enjoy all
democratic and human Rights within its federation, then on the other side of the
border in Pakistani controlled Balochistan, the desire of Baloch people for
independent Balochistan would stirred up, which is already intriguingly fascinating.
One needs to have an exclusive look on it. It is a nightmarish scenario for
Pakistan.

Therefore, for Pakistan unless Afghanistan remained ruined, the Durand line would
remain a silent issue. The day the Durand line issue raised and Baloch leadership
and Afghan government successfully presented their point of view about it before the
world community, Pakistan will have to eat the humble pie in abdicating its afghan
areas to Afghanistan and accepting Balochistan as an independent Baloch sovereign
state.

Iran is also in the same boat where it is in accomplice with Pakistan in committing
the genocide of Baloch nation and other nationalities within its orb. By the virtue
of the same Durand line, a large chunk of Baloch land is in its possession where
Baloch are almost all excluded and kept in slavery.

Keeping in view the current situation, Pakistan would not relent in foiling all
those schemes and efforts made to stabilize Afghanistan, unless the world community
grantees it that the Pashtuns would never, in any form, make any demand of
conjoining their ancestral main home land Afghanistan.

And the second grantee is that (Pakistan's seeking) the Baloch would not make any
demand of liberation from Iran and Pakistan.

But no country in the world could meet such demands particularly in circumstances,
when the world have ceased in trusting Pakistan any more! Neither one can trust its
politics nor does anybody trust its economy. Therefore it's seeking the defeat of
America and its allies in Afghanistan forever through its foxy war by using the
jihadist Talban.
Unfortunately it is not hard to conceive that Pakistan, to a great extent, has
succeeded in its design. America and its allies would not be able to continue their
presence any more within two and half years. So far as the question of termination
of Talban and Al Qaeda is concern, , by the virtue of Pakistani operation (the
Talban would mysterly leave the place where the operation is carried out and
thousands of people become homeless as result of bombardments) which, in terms of
results, could be quoted as a worst form of scheming.

Now in such conditions, anyhow, what should be done to remove the permanent Baloch
and Pashtuns sword hanging over Pakistani head? So that it could play an affective
and positive role in the war of terror! There are only two ways of resolving this
question, others are temporary and ineffective.

1- To bring Pakistan to the level of development with any of the developed nations
in Europe, where everyone has a social welfare grantee, no one feels insecure, nor
it has any restriction on crossing borders, neither has it faced any restrictions of
having business, nor one faces any threat to their culture, language, and their
civics social life. Even despite of presence of all these grantees, no one rejects
the possibility the pashtuns will ever abdicate their desire of leaving together.
And nor the Baloch would abandon the demand of an independent homeland.

2- Under the objective of "divide and rule" the British Empire gifted the lands of
different nations to Iran and Pakistan, as if they were their ancestral property.
Now it is imperative upon the British government to rectify the above mentioned
historical blunder, returning back their lands to them. These nationalities should
be allowed to live together according to their past history. So that in case of
utter desperation from Balochistan, Pakistan and Iran would not be able to interfere
in Afghanistan. Or they should be rendered so weaken to an extent, where they would
not be able to pose anything dangerous to Afghanistan stability.

So far as the development of Pakistan is concerned, it is a far off cry, all rulers,
from the first prime minister till the incumbent president, no one ever tried to be
self- reliant. Even in good times the hand with begging bowl has not been so
stretched as its today.

The history of Democracy in Pakistan has never been so radiant. Zulficar Ali Bhutto,
who was regarded as the biggest democrat, has committed the worst form of
undemocratic sin in the history of democracy in the world. It was he who declared
the majority of Bengalese as traitor and forced them to depart their whys. The
rationale behind it was to get rid of them forever. As they were in majority, if not
allowed today, they would come again tomorrow in majority and claim the power be
transferred to them.

The judiciary in this country has also never been a trusted one. 62 years history of
this county bears the witness that the judiciary has always been a congenital slave
of rulers.

In the name of democracy, the democratic institutions and dictators have, and
sometimes together, cold bloodedly murdered the democracy in this country.
Instead of establishing equality among the different nationalities, a relation of
slave and master was molded to run this country. All known social ills, like
lawlessness, bribery, nepotism, bankruptcy, and corruptions are increasingly allowed
to prevail and expand, and the judiciary has become a spectator.

The centre of our debate isn't Pakistan judiciary, so therefore let us put it in a
nutshell, if a man cuts a man hand, he will be punished for it. But those, who cut
off one of Pakistan's arms (Bangladesh), got scout free. No one even dared to expose
the secrets, let alone the punishing them. (The military operation in Balochistan,
genocide of Baloch people, the apathy of judiciary towards it and the disappointment
of people to the judiciary is not included in the debate)

It is the bad luck of this county that all its governmental institutions are in a
worst form of anarchy. Police fed up with military, military fed up with police and
judiciary.
The conditions of civil institutions are worst of all. The worst conditions of
governmental institutions have reached to the extent, that the ruling party has no
trusts in its law enforcing agencies and security institutions to arrest the killers
of their leader, then how a common man would expect justice in this country for
their problems. This is the weakness under which things are getting out of their
control. Just to end a crisis; they have to create a new fabricated one. Then it
becomes a real one with the passage of times.

A country, where its government is unable to bring under control the flour, cooking
oil and sugar mafia for the past 20 months, which is not armed with weapons, so
how on earth one expects that it would fight the terrorism, drug smugglers, and the
Islamic extremists?

Those who rendered this country in such conditions are still holding the power of
everything, though in different names and different forms. Now expecting from such
people that they would clear all these mess is an utter stupidity, it is as if to
ask someone "take this rope and hang yourself".

Here the thing which proven fatal most of all is the state structure which is
established on the bases of deception of all nationalities and they have been pushed
in a dark alley to hands them up off everything.

A total of 62 years was wasted in rendering the ideologies of G.M Sayad, Pacha Khan
and Sardar Khair Baksh Marri ineffective. In the opposition of the above mentionsed
empty handed leaders, despite of having the facility of billions of dollars and
ample opportunity, This country is still bogged in a quagmire where there is no way
to extract it out of its predicament.

A country for which the survival of its very being is Question number one, how
much time it requires to come on par with Swiss lands and Sweden. Talking about it
is just a waste of your time.

In our opinion, neither the world have such a amount of money nor does it has the
time to pull Pakistan out of its predicaments and put it on the path of development
besides fighting the war on terror. And similarly Pakistani rulers seem to have no
wishes to see their country prosperous and happy.

Under current circumstances, Pakistan, because of misdeeds of its rulers, seems to
be a car which is taken to a garage after the impact of a bad accident where it
receive the suggestion, that it is better to put this structure in a scrap shop
and sell it parts off one by one. Because the problem is that not only this car is
beyond of repairable, but also it is full of explosives. One has to clear it first
of its explosives, before it is required for any use.

What should be done? Before answering this simple question, a minor point is
necessary to be explained here. why we are not paying attention to the solution of
afghan problem within it by holding new elections, establishing a temporary
government, deploying the forces of Islamic countries, decreasing or increasing the
American forces or withdrawing them, holding talks with Talban and buying the local
warlords etc, with several such other schemes, but instead, we suggesting the
solution of Afghanistan's internal problems should be sought externally?

I believe that considering the above mentioned all schemes or considering them
practicable is just a self deception. Because these are the options which are in
use from the beginning of afghan war till today, by using different names, different
forces and different levels. It all resulted in wastage of time. And the second
thing is that, if all these options are acted upon, then the defeat of allied forces
is writing on the wall. And this is what Pakistan government wants.

Pakistanis are still in an illusion and hoping that if the America decreased its
pressure on it or withdraws itself from the area, then they would struck a deal with
Talban like in past times, this make them able to move the war again into
Afghanistan. And Pakistani rulers as usual, in the name of afghan war and war on
terrorism will continue to black mail the world community, because they have now
adopted this dirty game as a source of income. But they have not the slightest idea
Pakistan is internally a ruins and its vital internal organs are bleeding. They not
only lack, the required ability to push it into Afghanistan but now this war has
become so heavy that they even can not slightly move it. Here goes the saying of old
wisdom "what you sow, so shall you reap".
Certainly our suggestions about Afghanistan solutions would enrage Pakistani rulers,
because they still believe that by maintaining the current political status quo they
could bring serenity to it. But the realty suggests otherwise, now the condition of
a worst form of a civil war in this country is looming over its head like dark
clouds. While as an atomic county, its civil war would cause the region for a long
time of sleepless nights. On the other hand the Russians, Indians and the Israelis
would be the first who would feel the devastating affects of this civil war. In the
event of defeat of America and its allies, the morale of the Talban would touch the
zenith. It would be the stupidity of the world community if it ignored the slogans
of Islamic caliphate. The theocracy, under which they expel/defeat America, would
compel them to expand it beyond the region, so that the thousands of, or more so,
Talban and Al Qaeda warriors members (we don’t
regard them two separate identity) who would not set idle and create problem there.

In the event of defeat of democratic and secular forces, Islamic extremism would be
the only concept which encourages them to forge ahead. They would start thinking
that they had defeated Russia and then America and NATO, so why not give a try to
establish Islamic Sharia in closed by Islamic countries. Relatively regarding the
Central Asian countries, the less developed countries would be the first victims of
their onslaught, and then in the same way the Russia and Europe, and on the other
side Kashmir, and from several other ways India as well. Thirdly from the inferno
of Iran, they would try to put Israel into flames. Pro Pakistan elements in Talban
and other common student leaders would not allow India and Russia to increase their
sphere of influences by creating chaos in these countries, in the wake of American
departure. Pakistan would support their policy, just because it also helps Pakistan
to save itself from Russians and Indians influences.
And it also provides an opportunity to Pakistan to crush the pro independent forces
there. America, because of its wounds of the defeat, would not be able to show any
immediate reaction.

But so far experience has proven that all Pakistani modus operandi of scheming the
things and calculations are doomed to failure.
Pakistan would not be able to calm down its internal anarchy, by spreading terror in
Israel, India and Russia, despite keeping them away from itself.

Therefore world should be waiting for another Burundi and Somalia in the shape of
Pakistan with a permanent power, which could be the main reason of a war between
Islam and Christianity, Jews and non-believers.

In this scenario, it is a rare opportunity for the world powers, including America
to save the world from the disaster of this country messes, and Pakistan itself, to
rectify that historical blunder where Baloch, Sindhis and pashtuns regard themselves
enslaved.
Only the complete declaration of freedom of all these nations would save Pakistan
and the world as well from disastrous consequences.

The relative peace that followed after the demise of Soviet Union, and the
balkanization of Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia, is the proven fact that when the
relations become strained, should be severed.

Pakistan and Iran would be disheartened from their interest of weakening
Afghanistan, if only the freedom of these nations returned back to them. The
cooperation between Pakistan and Iran which has put the entire world in a strained
situation, would receive an end. The connections of Islamic and Talban terrorism
tendency would be severed and isolated, thereby it helps to rehabilitate them in a
civic society. The danger of Pakistani nuclear arsenals falling into wrong hands
could be circumvented. Because when all its nationalities get their freedom, the
only Punjab would not need the atomic bomb anymore. And its historical enmity with
India would come to an end. The Kashmir issue would receive the entire world
attention and it would be resolved amicably and peacefully. Corruption in Pakistan
would not pose any danger to a world community. Iran would be compelled to show
flexibility to world community, when the alliance between Pakistan and Iran is
broken. There too it paves the way for all nationalities to regain their freedom
and basic human rights would be restored. The best advantage is that after the
establishment of a common afghan (the inclusion of Pakistanis pashtuns into
Afghanistan) government, post- Pakistan pashtuns would have the ability to do their
level best to control the extremist policy of Talban. Today all the pashtuns have
been put into juxtaposition against each other by Pakistan. But tomorrow, if
allowed, in the event of their togetherness, they would use their best capacity to
establish an excellent democratic government.

A Soviet Union gave birth to 15 different states. None of them shouted foul to each
others and now they all enjoying their freedom and trying to establish good
relationship among themselves. A one of few may have a strained relationship, but it
doesn't mean that their existence is in danger. Or that their mêlée have any
affect on the world peace.

In our humble opinion, the day when the world powers and America identified the root
cause of all evils and perceived that it is laying in the niche of unnatural
division of nations and in the decision of the then British Empire, they would start
seeing the problem from a different point of angle. It would help them resolve this
issue, and this emancipates them from the fear of a possible war of Islam and
none-believers.
Otherwise, today the terrorists who sneak into Europe and carry out terror, but
tomorrow they would enter into Europe with diplomatic passports and wreck havoc
there.

Police constables gun down Baloch youth in Karachi

KARACHI: Police on Friday shot dead a youth, who had no criminal background, in a Ranchhore Line locality apparently in an attempt to enforce a ban on pillion-riding.

Police said that the deceased, Arif Baloch, was riding a motorcycle along with his pillion passenger, Kashif, in the Ranchhore Line area.

Two policemen of the Garden police station, also on a motorcycle, found them violating the pillion-riding ban and signalled them to stop, but Arif Baloch tried to speed away, they added.

According to the police, the chasing policemen got the youths near the congested Eidgah Chowk. ‘The policemen shouted several times asking them to stop, but they didn’t pay any heed and all of a sudden a single shot was fired by one of the policemen.’

A bullet from the official AK-47 Kalashnikov rifle of Constable Akhtar Nawaz hit 27-year-old Arif, a resident of Lyari, in the abdomen. He died on the spot. His body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).

However, sources in the medico-legal section of the CHK told Dawn that the victim was shot from pointblank range.

The police version was also at odd variance with the account related by the victim’s pillion passenger, Kashif, who told Dawn that his friend was shot dead by police at pointblank range.

‘Arif Baloch had been suffering from a kidney-related disease and I used to take him to the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation,’ he said after the victim was laid to rest in the Mewashah graveyard.

As a matter of course, Kashif said, they were returning from the health facility and Arif was driving the bike when the two policemen intercepted them near Eidgah.

‘We were confident that we enjoyed exemption from the pillion-riding ban because of Arif’s health condition, but the policemen initiated an argument and, all of a sudden, one of them asked us to put up our hands and fired a shot.’

A cloth trader in the Eidgah market, Kashif said he saw red and grabbed Constables Shahzad Ahmed and Akhtar Nawaz.

The scuffle drew the attention of the passers-by who overpowered the law-enforcers and gave them a hiding before putting them in an auto-rickshaw so that they could be taken to their high-ups at the Eidgah police station. They also set fire to the policemen’s motorcycle.

‘Arif Baloch died on the spot,’ he said. ‘When the two policemen were being taken in the rickshaw, they tried to escape but a large number of people following them did not allow this to happen,’ he added.

A police patrol team rescued their two colleagues by firing into the air to disperse the charged crowd.

However, the protesters blocked the main road connecting the Eidgah Chowk with other city thoroughfares including M.A. Jinnah Road. Vehicular traffic remained suspended on the road as the protesters lit bonfires.

A heavy contingent of police arrived at the scene to maintain law and order. However, the protesters demanded the arrest of the policemen upon which senior police officials decided to arrest Constable Akhtar Nawaz, who actually fired at the victim.

The torched bike was owned by Constable Shahzad Ahmed. The police did not find any weapon from the possession of the deceased who had no criminal record.

Although the police authorities ordered registration of a murder case under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Constable Akhtar Nawaz at the Eidgah police station, they maintained that the facts of the incidents needed to be examined before reaching any conclusion.

‘No criminal record of deceased Arif was found…the police did not recover any arm or illegal thing from his possession,’ said Saddar Town SP Abdullah Sheikh. ‘However, there are a few things, as claimed by the two policemen, which are needed to be investigated.’

Citing the initial statement of the two policemen, he said that the two youths violated the pillion-riding ban, did not stop on police orders, ran into a commercial area and finally when they were almost caught, the motorcyclist tried to hit the policemen’s bike due to which both bikes fell down.

‘In the process Akhtar Nawaz’s rifle went off accidentally and the bullet hit Arif,’ said SSP Sheikh.

‘But we are not depending on any statement to arrive at any decision as senior investigators will probe into the case with all honesty following all legal formalities.’

A resident of Singo Lane in Lyari and the eldest among three brothers and seven sisters, Arif was the only breadwinner of the family and was an auto-rickshaw driver by profession.

THE PRE-PLANED GENOCIDE OF BALOCH AN ALLIED WISH OF PAKISTAN AND IRAN

The debate of Baloch national genocide has been taking place since long but after forced occupation of Pakistan in this region the possibilities of Baloch becoming minorities like Red Indians increased. 250 years ago Baloch had a coastal area of 1500km I.e. from Karachi to Harmoz but today its divided in 5 parts in Iran so that it doesn’t unites as a political power there. Being in Pakistan with 3 different provinces, Balochistan where Balochs are in majority, Pakhtoons are forcibly involved against their will according to a plan to avoid Baloch becoming a great power. The same conspiracy was played on Pakhtoons where they were divided in Balochistan, Punjab and then free tribes etc. to deprive them from unity. Similarly Sindhis had to face weakness in their political power because of bearing hundreds of thousands of refugees from India who were later on localized. That particular refugee who traveled from Delhi and Hyderabad wearing a patched shirt and loin cloth is the master of Sind and the poor sindhi is its servant.

Punjabi is the only nation in this country who absorbed other nations and is united whereas all other nations are victims of indigenous division. This is the reason whenever nations speak about the injustice they faced, blame Punjab because Punjab is the only nation strengthening with Pakistan whereas other nations are suffering division under the governmental and semi-governmental conspiracies.

Baloch’s issue is much critical than other of these nations because not even it is able to read or write its own language in its school, neither it has any opportunity of saving its tradition nor it can defend its culture. Similarly its land can be taken from it and its facing the threat of losing its national identity forever.

From prominent American intellectual Sleigh Harrison to ordinary writers have repeated several times expressing the threat of Baloch facing slow motion genocide. We too have repeated using the term of ‘slow motion genocide’ in tens of our articles, but concentrating more on this subject reveals that using the term of ‘slow genocide’ does not reflects the current disaster Baloch nation is facing.

In fact it is an ugly truth, due to rapid development of science, nations are developing too. So in case of suppression of any nation it can swiftly lose its national identity where killing everyone is not necessary .

Only 1 or 2 per cent of Balochs who migrated to Sind and Punjab in the 15th and 16th century, write their identities as Baloch but are disconnected from Baloch, Balochi and Balochistan in such a way that 5 military operations in Balochistan and genocide of Baloch could not succeed in convulsing them. 90% of them speak Sindhi, Punjabi and Saraiki. Similarly Baloch in Iran bearing 80 years of slavery do not have the stamina to rescue its language, history and culture. Baloch history and Baloch culture is being attacked by Persian history and Persian language like an uprising storm. More than that Baloch can not even practice its Sunni religious prayers in a peaceful environment.

In these past 80 years, Baloch nation was kept backward so much that it feels embarrassed to wear its own traditional clothes. Persians have intentionally attacked Baloch’s culture and tradition to intellectively make them slaves. Baloch living there is convinced that the memento of being educated and civilized person is to wear paint coat whereas its own traditional dress is the bookmark of ignorance and backwardness.

We think any nation dies at the moment when it becomes a victim of inferiority complex. The nations who think they are superior and above all, are called Fascist and aren’t acceptable by the world. Similarly the States who try to involve other weak and minor nations into inferiority complex are hated by the world. These states with the help of their enormous political machinery drive the particular nation in so much inferiority complex that they lose the stamina of rescuing their national identity and they move forward to their end unknowingly.

It took around 4 to 5 centuries for the Balochs living in Sind and Punjab to become one of them but developed Iran in a small period of 80 years turned a large number of Balochs into Shiites. It convinced many people that they being Baloch are less civilized, less educated and in fact less intelligent than Persians. Similarly many were convinced to speak Persian to their children so that the gates of success open to them as if speaking Balochi or being close to Balochistan would close the gates.

In these 80 years a large number of Baloch were perverse to believe that Baloch did not had any such history which can be taught in colleges and universities and neither Balochi was a language to be proud on.

Tehran and Pakistan are killing Balochs in different ways using different weapons. In Iran Balochs are hanged or shoot in the name being Sunni, in the name of drugs, in the name of being US, Britain or Western agent, or in the name of provoking Balochs for freedom. Along with these killings, They are assassin with the weapons like keeping them in ignorance, unemployment, backwardness and corruption murdering their Balochism. These people are seemingly living human but are empty inside. They think alike their masters to keep them slaves forever.

In Eastern Balochistan the situation is no different. In Pakistan, Balochistan is the less developed and most back warded province and Pakhtoon areas are much developed than Balochs. (Here it should not be taken that Pakhtoons are in heaven in Balochistan.)

As here Baloch being slave since a less period of 62 years, so it is less under pressure than in Iran. Newspapers and Magazines are published under help yourself theory here. Music centers are present and literature is in inventory mode being published by helping their own selves. Government TV and radio channels teach the lesson of being Pakistani rather than being Baloch so that Balochi and Brahvi language are near to the stage of elimination. I, being drama and TV person from 1993-97, am a witness that while I used to write scripts, producers always used to tell me to write the dialogues of the characters using most of Urdu words so that ordinary people could understand. Whereas my Balochi was never tough but was indeed pure because I used to implement Rakshani, Makrani and Suleimani accent equally in my dialogues. Being familiar with 3 of these accents, I never had the necessity of using Urdu words that’s what my producers never liked. I was usually present in recordings where actors on the advice of producers used to place Urdu or English words in the dialogues and I used to immediately correct them but in my absence they used to neglect the script using such an ordinary Balochi mixture which used to embarrass me listening to it later.

The main reason of giving this ordinary example is to let the world know the Balochi and Brahvi programs published in the TV and Radios are just to pollute these languages and not for their development.

The situation of Pakistani politics is in front of all, some Balochs have been bought and some have been misguided. Those who want to apprise the threats Baloch and Balochistan are facing, end up like more than 8000 missing people which can be seen by the world. The terrible result of democratic politics in Balochistan resulting the assassination of Martyr Ghulam Mohd, Martyr Lala Munir, Martyr Sher Mohd, Martyr Rasool Baksh and tens of other leaders is a question mark to the world. The state terrorism has reached a point that in the month of September this year, a peaceful public conference in Tump was opened fire in which nearly 20 innocent victims were injured including women and children and one youngster Mukhtar Baloch was martyred.

Here too Balochs are being targeted directly along using the weapons like terror, greediness, corruption, backwardness, division and illiteracy at the same time.

As we have mentioned before, we would like to reinforce the point that in this computerized era it is not so hard to eliminate any nation as all new weapons such as carpet bombardment, media, seminars, internet etc. are used at the same time.

Iran and Pakistan have not only planed to snatch Baloch homeland, the fact of Baloch being a secular nation pins like a needle in their eyes. If the civilized world helps the broad minded Baloch in this region against Pakistani and Iranian religious trend of extremism, the civilized world gains the profit itself. Baloch arising as a moderate power in this region can help the world to fight against 2 challenges in this 21st century I.e. prohibiting drugs because many of Pakistani and Iranian high officials are backing the smuggling of drugs from Afghanistan to Europe and America through Balochistan.The second biggest challenge is the religious extremism which is promoted both in Pakistan and Iran and is a challenge to the entire world. Baloch nation with its secular thoughts can be actively helpful to the civilized world in the fight against this negative trend. Balochistan Zindabaad!

Fresh Military operation in Marri Bugti regions, several reported arrested

Kahan/Dega Bugti: Sources from the far-flung areas of Balochistan have reported that Pakistan military has been carrying out yet another military offensive in several regions of Marri and Bugti strongholds. According to BRP spokesman Mr. Sher Mohammed Bugti, 65 people have so far been arrested from different villages in Sui, Dera Bugti, and Jhatpat areas. He further said that the so called packages are just a drama and the military wa trying to pave a way to intensify army operation in Balochistan. He also strongly criticised the Pakistani Prime Minister's views that there was no ongoing military operation in Balochistan. He said that the Prime Minister was unaware of the situation in Balochistan and that he has no power at all.

The fresh attacks in Marri and Bugti region prove that the government is not sincere resolving Balochistan issue. He strongly rejected the government of Pakistan’s comments about negotiations and said that the Party leader Brahumdagh Khan Bugti would not talk to the enemies of Baloch Nation at any cost.

On the other hand Independent sources reported that Pakistani military has intensified its activities in Kohistan Marri, from last three days the Pakistani gunship helicopters and fighter planes have been pounding Kujjal, Jhabar, Nisao and other areas. These attacks on civilian areas are once again compelling people to flee from those regions and become refugees in their own homeland.

It is worth noting that there are already thousands of Baloch internally displaced people living in appalling conditions and the Pakistani government has stopped the International aid agencies to help them.

Unfortunately the international community including the UN have so far been unable to pressurise Pakistan to halt the military operation in Balochistan. Complete shutterdown strike in Balochistan to mark Balaach Marri's martyrdom anniversary

QUETTA: A complete wheel-jam and shutter-down strike was observed across Balochistan on Friday to mark the second death anniversary of Baloch nationalist leader Nawabzada Balach Marri, son of Nawab Khair Baksh Marri.

A former member of the Balochistan Assembly, Balach was killed under mysterious circumstances on November 20, 2007 in a town on the Pak-Afghan border.

The Anjuman-e-Ittehad-e-Marri and the Baloch National Front (BNF) called Friday’s strike, which was observed by all nationalist parties, the business community, transporters and the legal fraternity. Shops, restaurants and offices of private companies were shut in the city while traffic on the roads also remained thin.

Shops on Jinnah Road, Liaquat Bazaar, Prince Road, Abdul Sattar Road, Brewery Road, Saryab Road and the rest of the city remained completely shut.

"Everyone across Balochistan supports the shutter-down strike call, which shows that Balach Marri, who sacrificed his life for the rights of the Baloch people, is recognised as the undisputed hero of Balochistan," said a BNF spokesman. He said Balach had written a new chapter of struggle and sacrifice in Baloch history and would always be remembered as a hero who fought for the rights of his people during the military regime of former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf.

Life remained paralysed in Mastung, Kalat, Noshki, Turbat, Panjgur, Awaran, Gwadar, Naseerabad, Sibi, Khuzdar and other districts of Balochistan. The strike remained peaceful throughout the province as no unpleasant incidents were reported. Police and Frontier Corps patrolled different districts in order to tackle any unpleasant incident.

Pak government trying to convert university into cantonment: BSO leader

Quetta: The Balochistan University requires funds to improve its existing security plan in the wake of mounting threats faced by the country’s educational institutions.

University officials said, “Ours is perhaps the only university in the world where trains move regularly on the campus, making it impossible for the university administration to establish a wall around the railway track to minimise the risk of terrorist attacks.”

“We need additional funds, millions of rupees to upgrade the security of the university,” said another official.

A senior official, requesting anonymity, said the university administration had prepared a new security plan in the wake of twin suicide blasts at Islamabad’s International Islamic University.

“The government is trying to convert the university into a garrison under the pretext of restoring peace. We do not face any threat from outside. Frontier Corps are our major concern as they have rounded up many students in the past. They also beat up a professor,” Hamal Baloch, a Baloch Students Organisation leader, said.

Under the new security plan, the parking lot has been shifted outside the campus and no one is allowed to park his or her car inside the university. All faculty and students are required to display their identity cards.

“We have installed several CCTV cameras and raised the boundary wall and barbed wire has been fixed on it,” a university official said. However, there is still room for improvement, for which we need funds.”

Second Martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Balaach Marri to be held

Jail me but free my dad, Families demand release of missing Baloch

eet three-year old Beurag Baloch. He is the son of Jalil Reki, the central secretary information of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP), who went missing since the early days of 2009. Beurag tells us that he believes his father was picked up by the agencies. He does not exactly know what “agencies” mean and what their job is. Yet, he says he misses his “missing father” very much.

His dad is among thousands of Balochs who are currently “missing” after being whisked away by the country’s intelligence agencies. They say some 4000 Balochs have “disappeared” at the moment.

Beurag held my hand and asked me to take his picture pretending to be behind bars in order to convey his willingness to go behind bars in return of his missing father’s release.

“Uncle, can you do me this favor,” he asked this afternoon.

I could not promise but assured to convey his message with his own photograph to everyone that this young child is volunteering to go to Pakistan’s torture cells in return of his father’s release from the custody of the intelligence agencies.

Two Baloch students abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies

Quetta Junior Joint Secretary of B.S.O. Azaad, Mr. Shafi Baloch has been abducted by Pakistan’s secret agencies while he was on his way back after attending a public gathering at Balochistan Medical College, in Shaal (Quetta). According to BSO- azaad’s official website www.sagaar.org On 7 November Shafi Baloch was first apprehended by the Pakistani police and taken to Barori road police station and then shifted to an undisclosed location. He was kept in the police station for 5 hours and then handed over to the Pakistani army. Shafi Baloch’s abduction provoked and disappointed the Baloch youth and his family but it comes as no surprise to anyone.

Shafi Baloch is just another name that has been added to the list of already thousands of missing Baloch students, political activists and ordinary Baloch. The Sagaar statement further reads: “B.M.C. has recently seen the brutal thrashing of the female students of medical sciences by Pakistan army where another incident of kidnapping has taken place by Pakistan army. The witnesses of the incident stated that Shafi Baloch was immensely beaten at the spot by the officers of the said police station which resulted in injuries to him, later on the Police even denied the incident and said that they didn’t know anything about it”.

It has become a trend of Pakistan’s police and the criminal army that they deny the abduction of Baloch activists after snatching them from Universities, colleges, and public places.

No one either in judiciary, provincial government or from the federal government dares to question the notorious criminal general for abducting Baloch students. The Pakistani media also ignores the atrocities against the Baloch people that their own army is committing, thus becoming a partner in crimes of the intelligence agencies.

Pakistan has stepped up the abductions of Baloch youth and killing them in cold blood while in detention. Several top Baloch political leaders have already been murdered while in custody and the relatives of the missing person fear that the rest of the missing person either have already been murdered or they might be murdered if the International Human Rights organisation and the UN do not take timely action and pressurise Pakistan to surface the missing Baloch activists.

Mr. Hai Bezinjo Baloch, a resident of Mashkay and a student of social works at Balochistan University has been abducted today (11-09-2009) by Pakistan army. Hai Baloch, also a member of B.S.O. Azaad, was taken off a bus in Shaal(Quetta) by Pakistan army personals and was thrashed in front of all passengers, he was blind folded and taken away to an unknown location.

Students in Balochistan are facing difficult conditions where the universities and colleges are turned into army garrisons by Pakistan and each day has its own stories of humiliation, torture, forced disappearances and killing of innocent Baloch students.

Open in new windowThe Senior Vice President of B.S.O. Azaad, Zakir Majeed is also among the thousands of Baloch missing people who are facing dire consequences for raising their voice against the oppression of Pakistan army and the occupation of their motherland.

Zakir Majeed Baloch is also one of the members of Baloch Watan Dost committee which was constituted to secure the safe release of UNHCR head in Balochistan Mr Jhon Solecki and missing Baloch people.

It is worth reminding that another member of Baloch Watan Dost committee Shaheed Ghulam Mohammad Baloch was abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies from Turbat Town along with his two companions in broad-day-light and they were later killed in custody. Zakir Majeed Baloch has twice been detained in past and release after sever torture, similarly Shaheed Ghulam Baloch and Sher Mohammed Baloch had been detained and had been tortured before their cold-blooded murder on 8th April 2009. Mr Zakir Majeed Baloch’s family members expressed fear that Zakir Majeed Baloch might suffer the same fate as Ghulam Mohammad Baloch and his friends. International Human Rights Organisations and the UN must take notice of Mr Zakir Majeed’s arrest and pressurise Pakistan’s government for his safe release.

Balochs in Iran, the “enemies of God”

The last Jundallah attack in Western Balochistan´s capital has exposed the dire situation local Baloch face under Tehran´s rule. Since the annexation of Western Balochistan to Iran in 1928, Iranian Baloch have been condemned to an assimilation based on both ethnic and religious factors.

“This city sucks”, complains Abdullah, a young Saudi businessman who has already spent over two months In Zahedan trying to close a deal with Baloch camel merchants.

“No women, no alcohol, no fun…and, what is more, everybody takes me for an Al-Qaeda terrorist!”, complains this 27 year old bearded Arab. He can hardly wait to return to his native Riyadh.

Zahedan is the capital of Sistan and Baluchistan province. Sharing borders with Afghanistan and Pakistan, here every “non farsi" is a potential "terrorist", “drug dealer", or both at the same time. And if you are a Westerner, you must be an “agent”. The ayatollahs accuse the Baloch of collaborating with the West and the armed People's Liberation Army of Iran (formerly "Jundallah"), a Wahabi type group, of allegedly receiving assistance from both the CIA and Al-Qaeda. True or not, the Shia regime seems not to distinguish between the fight against drugs and political dissidents. The result of this conflation is the public hanging of Baloch without benefit of trial. Just last June, 19 "enemies of God" were executed in Zahedan. They were characterized as "corrupt on earth"--in other words, both “terrorists” and “drug dealers”.

"Did you know that here they use camels to smuggle heroin from Afghanistan? Once they are taught the route, the drug is then grafted inside the hump and the animals make their way across the border", explains the young Saudi with a smile shining from his black beard.

In fact, drugs have always been an issue here. When Western Balochistan was annexed by Iran in 1928, Britain had already introduced the opium trade to the region long before. Compared to other parts of the country, its use here was still rare, limited to a handful of tribal leaders. But the consumption of heroin in Western Baluchistan was given a boost with the Pahlevis, whose huge windfall profits were not lost on the ayatollahs. Local public Farsi officers (Baloch are prevented from governmental positions) amassed huge fortunes and now continue to make money with the drug traffic that comes from neighbouring Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Tehran directs their “war on drugs” at small dealers. Drug abuse itself it not worried by Tehran, for a Baloch population hooked on opiates, estimated to be as high as 50%, simply translates as 50% fewer potential dissidents.

Neither men nor names
First local place names just vanish (Zahedan was Duzzap until the early '30s) and the same happens later with the local Baloch population. Today, 6 out of 10 people in Zahedan are Farsis. Unsurprisingly, there are no official figures for the missing local Baloch.

But there must be many, as added to the plethora of Persian security forces and intelligence services is now also the Mersad. It is a paramilitary group said to be operating under the direct orders of the Supreme Leader, Khamenei, that specializes in random beatings and shootings; doubtless an effective way to spread the sense of terror and insecurity among the local population. This unemployed young man from Khash came across them last year. "It was about six in the morning. We were waiting at the entrance of the village for someone to offer us work in the harvest. Suddenly, we heard firing from a Toyota van. Three died and other eight were wounded", explains this young man whilst he shows a bullet wound on his left shoulder.

When the British entered the region in the 18th century, they asked the local Baloch people how they wanted to settle civil cases. Unlike their neighbours who cried “Sharia (Islamic law)”, the Baloch shouted “Rawaj (Baloch traditional code of conduct)”. Tehran has obviously not bothered to ask anybody so, despite the constant killing of Baloch dissidents and Sunni religious leaders, no one in Tehran ever speaks of “religious conflict”. Such is the Persian version of the “war on terror”… and drugs!

"It is a tyrannical regime that seeks the Farsis total hegemony in Iran, nothing else”, complains one of the very few ethnic Baloch professors at the University of Sistan and Baluchistan. He denounces that out of over 20,000 students on the campus, only 500 are Baloch. Needless to say, discrimination in the classroom is proportional to the labour market.

"70 years ago this province was just called Baluchistan; later it turned into Baluchistan and Sistan', and today it´s `Sistan and Baluchistan'. If we stick to this trend, in the future it will be just called `Sistan´", explains this maths teacher. "The power in Iran is held by the Farsis since the Shah´s times. Nonetheless, with the Pahlevis our only 'sin' was our ethnicity, but today Tehran also hates us because we are Sunnis", he adds.

The Kurds in the northwest of the country, or the Arabs in the south also have to cope with this “double handicap”. That´s the price to pay in a country which claims to be a republic, but is very much ruled as an empire.

"The main obstacle is the Iranian Constitution itself. It limits the Persian identity with Shiism as the only religion and Farsi as the only language", says Ibrahim, a student in the campus. "This is the source of the apartheid imposed on us by the ayatollahs," he stresses.

"I am Iranian"
Whatever the case, the university still remains an unattainable dream for most Balochs here, for Sistan and Balochistan provice has been deliberately abandoned to become the poorest region in the Islamic Republic. Mansur has a small appliance store in the impoverished town of Iranshar (once Parah), the second largest settlement in Western Balochistan.

In Tehran people take Mansur for an outsider for his dark complexion and, above all, for his white shalwar kameez, that long shirt and baggy pants set that is indistinguishable between nationalities in Central and South Asia.

"When I go to Tehran they always ask me whether I am Pakistani or Indian”, says the trader. "Then they get puzzled when I tell them in perfect Farsi that I happen to come from their very same country" he says.

"You are not Iranian," Mansur often has to hear on such occasions. "Unfortunately, I am."

Panel assembled for Baluch international moot

number of international activists, scholars and human rights practitioners will be participating in the first-ever Baluchistan International Conference in Washington DC on Nov. 21-22.

The American Friends of Baluchistan, an organization that supports the independence movement, has organized the conference.

The conference has been organized to highlight the Baluch issues in Eastern and Western Baluchistan -- now under Pakistani and Iranian occupation -- and to pay tributes to slain Baluch freedom fighter Nawabzada Balaach Marri, 41, an elected member of the Baluchistan state assembly and son of legendary Baluch leader Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri.

Marri was killed extrajudicially by the Pakistan military on Nov. 20, 2007.

Baluch international activist Mehran Baluch, a brother of the slain leader, will preside over the two-day conference that is aimed to find ways and means to end the plight of the Baluch natives in Western and Eastern Baluchistan.

The panelists at the conference are:

Selig S. Harrison, Asia director at the Center for International Policy, has written extensively on ethnic tensions in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran , focusing on the Baluch nationalist struggle. His 1980 book In Afghanistan?s Shadow: Baluch Nationalism and Soviet Temptations, published by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, remains the most authoritative analysis of the Baluch nationalist movement. He is the author of Pakistan: The State of the Union, recently published by the Center for International Policy, where he directs the Asia Program. In this study, he calls on the government of Pakistan to honor the autonomy provisions of the 1973 Constitution and withdraw its armed forces and intelligence agencies from Baluchistan .

Harrison served for 22 years as a Senior Associate of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and was South Asia and Northeast Asia Bureau Chief of The Washington Post.

His five books on Asia include India: The Most Dangerous Decades ( Princeton ) and The Widening Gulf: Asian Nationalism and American Policy (Free Press).

Andrew Eiva was born of refugee parents who fled tyranny in Lithuania, and learned early on that resistance warfare could help his homeland Lithuania regain independence. His quest took him to West Point -- where U.S. generals are trained -- and the Green Berets. He is best known for his impact on policy and the selection of effective weapons systems during Afghanistan's struggle against Red Army occupation. Later in Lithuania, he led the volunteer pro-independence forces in a showdown with Soviet occupation forces. During the Serb ethnic cleansing in the Balkans, he lobbied for military support for the Bosnians and Kossovars. Currently, he is working on a concept for the Sudanese resistance to use their oil and gas reserves as a tool for unity and victory. Eiva thinks a similar approach could benefit the Baluch drive for independence.

Saghir A. Shaikh, Ph.D, is based in California . He is the former chairman of the World Sindhi Congress -- a Sindhi advocacy and educational organization with chapters in UK, USA.. Dr. Shaikh has been active in different social and political forums since he was five. He is one of the founding members of Sindhi Baloch Forum, G M Syed Memorrial Committee, Sojhro.Org (an education and career abroad web portal), and a life member of Sindhi Association of North America. Dr Shaikh speaks regularly at Seminar and Conferences highligting the Sindh and Balochistan struggle for National Self-determination.

Munir Mengal is the managing director of Baloch Voice based in Paris, France and hails from the remote Mashkay area in Awaran, Occupied Balochistan. He had planned to launch a Balochi and Brohi language Satellite TV channel called "Baloch Voice." But Pakistani intelligence agencies abducted him on April 4, 2006 and he was held incommunicado and faced worst torture in Pakistan military dungeon for 16 months. After being freed on 23 rd April 2008, he came to France with the help of and Reporters Sans Frontieres. He has attended two UNHCR council sessions and made speeches at events organized by the UNPO and Interfaith International.

Dr. Gul Agha is a well-known Computer Scientist and Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Agha grew up in, and has traveled extensively throughout Sindh and all of South Asia. He has written numerous short essays about Sindh and has lectured at many Sindhi gatherings. He was the Guest of Honor ('Mukhi Mehman') at the Sindhi New Year (Cheti Chand) celebration organized by the Bharti Sindhu Sabha in Thane in 2000 (Mumbai, India). Dr. Agha is an outstanding speaker whose expertise and personal experience enables him to speak extensively on human rights and international and domestic politics pertaining to Sindh and Baluchistan.

Wendy Johnson is a co-producer of the seminal documentary The Baluch. She has a Master's degree in Languages and Literature of South Asia from the University of Minnesota. She has lived and traveled extensively in Pakistan and India while studying Urdu on the Berkeley Urdu Language Program in Lahore, Pakistan, on two occasions, and with the American Institute of Indian Studies program in Delhi, India. She also studied documentary film at the Anthropological Film Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Wendy works as a graphic designer in New York. She and her husband Albert Larew manage thebaluch.com website.

Asad Rahman is program director at the Sungi Development Foundation. He had taken part in the Baluch resistance against the Pakistan military occupation of Baluchistan along with the Marri guerillas in 1973-77. He was the youngest but fittest in the popular London Group, when at the age of 21, he used to ambush the Pakistani military convoys and take away ammunition from them to sustain the Baluch liberation movement. An eyewitness to the "genocide" of the Baloch in the 70s, Rahman alias Chakar Khan, still an ardent supporter of an independent Baluchistan. He recalls Pakistan military butality saying Baloch women were used as 'comfort women' in military custody and male fighters were captured and thrown from the helicopters.

Ismail Ameeri attended high school in port city of Chahbahar and college in Zahedan in Western [Iranian occupied] Balochistan . After the 1979 Iranian mullah takeover, he went to Karachi and did his Master's in Political Science in from the University of Karachi in 1985. In Karachi he was actively involved in Baloch politics and Balochi literary forums and joined the Western Balochistan-based Balochistan National Movement. He is presently a member of the central and executive committees of the pro-independence party.

A writer in Balochi language, he had been a co-editor of Monthly Taptan ( Balochi ). He regularly chairs and moderates Baloch gatherings in London.

Ali Arjemandi, was born in Kishkor, Sarbaz in western Balochistan in a farmer's family. He was forced to become a refugee and arrived in Norway in the beginning of 1987. He graduated in physiotherapy from the State Physiotherapy School in Oslo in 1995. At the age of 14, was captured and imprisoned for 48 hours of notorious Savak – th seceret service of the Shah of Iran, Reza Shah Pehlavi, was tortured and his leg was broken. He became a member of Baloch Raje Zrombesh from 1985. He is a brother of Ehsan Arjemandi, who was kidnapped by the Pakistani Military Intelligence on August and is still missing.

Aziz Baloch now lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he represents the Baloch Human Rights Council. He is MA (Economics) from University of Balochistan and former zonal general secretary of the Baloch Students Organization [BSO], a student body engaged in securing the irghts of the Baloch people since 1967. He has associate degree in professional management and business technology management and served as lecture coordinator in the student program, inviting academics to speak on international topics. A volunteer interpreter/translator for Baloch community in Canada he is a also a seasonal writer -- his articles have been published in articlebase.com and other websites.

Humaira Rahman is a director of the World Sindhi Institute. A former practicing architect and lecturer, she is an environmental and human rights activist. She had laucnhed a highly successful non-profit against urban sprawl in her hometown of Karachi. Ms. Rahman belongs to a well-known family from Old Karachi, where her father and uncle were respected for their community service as educationists and jurists. Currently, she resides in Canada.

Dr. Nazir S. Bhatti has been campaigning for equal basic democratic rights of Christian people in Pakistan since 1985, he is president of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC www.pakistanchristiancongress.org He led numerous protests, hunger strikes, rallies and long marches with other leaders and members of PCC to condemn black and discriminatory laws in Pakistan. He was arrested many times.He contested the blasphemy law in Lahore High Court and Supreme Court of Pakistan and has challenged the Hadood Ordinance. He was forced to flee to U.S. safety after the government of Pakistan registered 21 false cases of treason and blasphemy against me on February 13 1998, in Karachi, for leading a protests against the burning of Christian village Shanti Nagar by radical Muslims in Punjab.

Meanwhile, American Friends of Baluchistan condemned Islamabad for putting one of the invitees to the conference, Prof. Naela Quadri of the Baloch Republican Party on the infamous exit control list. Prof. Quadri was recently offloaded from an aeroplane while she was travelling to Manila to attend a premier Asian Pacific NGO conference on conflict zones.

"We condemn the Inter Services Intelligence and Military Intelligence for their crimes against humanity in Baluchistan," two AFB leaders Rashid Baloch and Mailk Baloch said. "Those who conspire with them will face the popular wrath of the Baluch people," the two leaders warned.

Over the years, secular Baluchistan has been turned into a killing field by both Pakistan and Iran. The Baluch are engaged in a heroic David-and-Goliath struggle to regain their lost statehood.

A PROFILE IN COURAGE

Balaach Marri was born on January 17, 1966. He was the fourth among six sons of Nawab Khair Bux Marri. He was named after the great 15th century Baloch hero Balaach Gorgej of Chaker-e-Azam era. He started his primary education at Quetta Grammar School. He was only six in 1972 when the National Awami Party government was removed forcibly at the instigation of the military. The entire area around Nawab Khair Bux Marri's house in Quetta was surrounded by military and Balaach witnessed his father being arrested by the army. The seige of the house continued for many months after the arrest.

Nawab Khair Bux Marri was jailed for the next seven years for plotting to liberate Baluchistan and during this entire period, Balaach was able to see his father only a couple of times. Nawab Khair Bux was released in 1979 and went into self-exile in Afghanistan the following year with his family and thousands of Baloch people. Balaach continued and finished his secondary education in Afghanistan.

Balaach excelled in his studies. He was a keen student who really loved his school and studies. During this period Balaach started to learn and understand politics.

He attended study circles run by his father Nawab Khair Bux that included philosophy, history of Baloch people and Balochistan and about the possible options for political struggle and emancipation. The study circles and discussions also included the analysis of international situation.

At that time a lot was happening in Afghanistan, attracting many liberal activists and intellectuals from the surrounding countries. The study circles and the interactions that Balaach attended during this period had a deep mark on his understanding of Baloch issues.

He was also believed to be probably one of the closest to Nawab Khair Bux among his sons. Balaach interacted frequently with his father, whom he used to call Ada or "Elder Brother."

After finishing his secondary education in Afghanistan, Balaach moved to Moscow to finish his higher education in communication engineering. Again, he proved to be an excellent student. Balaach was very effective in interacting with people from many different countries with revolutionary ideas and enthusiasm to bring a change. He continued to maintain many of those relations that he established during this period.

Nawab Khair Bux Marri returned to Balochistan in 1992 and Balaach Marri returned in 1993 after completing his studies. He left Balochistan at the age of 14 as an adolescent and returned as a man of 27 years.

In 2000, the entire family of Nawab Marri was implicated in the murder of Justice Marri. Nawab Khair Bux was imprisoned. Balach incidentally was at that time in London. After the arest of his father, family and friends and family advised him to stay in London.

He immediately started work to raise awareness among the international community about the plight of the Baloch people. He worked tirelessly to inform international community about Baloch sufferings. He firmly believed in the combined struggle of Baloch and other oppressed nations. He was one of the founders and first secretary general of Sindhi Baloch Forum established in 2001. The purpose of this forum was to provide common platform to Baloch and Sindhi cause at the international stage. He participated in the 2002 elections in absentia and swept the polls.

In early Nov. 2003, he went back to Balochistan. During the oath-taking ceremony he refused to take oath in Urdu and insisted on taking oath in Balochi language. He did not say the words that he shall be loyal to Pakistan, but instead he said he will be loyal to his motherland, Balochistan.

Balaach was offered seats and to join PML-Q but he turned down all the offers. Soon he realised that the Pakistani agencies were after him and filing false cases against him, thus he moved to Kahan (his ancestral town) and never attended a session of the assembly again.

He started working to develop the backbone of the current Baloch resistance. One of his greatest achievements is that he resolved long-term feuds between Marri and Bugti tribes and assisted Nawab Akbar Bugti to lead the Baloch national cause. This demonstrates his visionary and statesmanlike capabilities. He organised the Baloch struggle not on tribal but Baloch national lines.

He raised the profile of the Baloch struggle to a new level within the international community and in Pakistan. The impact was so big that on many occasions coup leader and dictator General Pervez Mushraf explicitly said Balaach Marri has to be eliminated to keep Baluchistan under Pakistan's military thumb.

London (28-10-2009): The Baloch have a long history of struggle against repressions and oppression by the Pakistani and Iranian states. Our history, however, pre-dates the formation of both Pakistan and Iran. The Baloch have a history which goes back thousands of years.

During the British Raj, Britain annexed a strip of land adjoining Afghanistan and named it (“British Balochistan”). The Baloch tirelessly campaigned for independence during the final decades of the British Raj. When the British left the Indian subcontinent the Baloch declared their Independence on 11 August 1947. Balochistan remained a sovereign state until it was forcefully occupied by Pakistan army on 27 March 1948. Iran had already occupied western part of Balochistan in 1928. Iran’s occupation of western Balochistan was a part of a ploy by the British to bring Iran on their side against the Russian expansion.

Since the occupation Iran and Pakistan have used brute force to subjugate the Baloch. The international Community by keeping silence have legitimized the forceful occupation of Baloch land and the inhumane treatment committed against them.

The current spate of violence in Balochistan started in early 2000 when the Pakistani dictator Musharraf came into power through an illegal military action. Pakistan’s army have used modern and lethal weapons like, Phosphorus and cluster bombs ‘which are supplied by the West’ against unarmed Baloch.

Hundreds of thousands of Baloch people have been displaced, many hundreds killed and thousands have been extra judicially abducted by the Pakistani Intelligence agencies ever since. Relatives have tried all peaceful means to find out the whereabouts of their loved ones, who have disappeared without a trace, to no avail. There are currently more than 6000 people missing in Eastern Balochistan (occupied by Pakistan).

During Musharraf’s dictatorship hundreds of Baloch including two top Baloch leaders Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and Nawabzada Balach Marri (one of my brothers) have been murdered. Apparently Musharraf has got away with these crimes. In fact it was Musharruf “the Pakistani general Penuche” and his Jihadist army who created world’s two most deadliest organisations; Al-Qaeeda and the Taliban. These are the two most destructive fundamentalist organizations that are hell bent to destroy secular nations both Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Ironically, he is presently treated as a celebrity and is giving lectures to the International community on terrorism! No one so far within the International Community has challenged him for the crimes that he and his cronies have committed in Balochistan.

Besides, all other criminal army generals come and stay in Western countries after their retirement. Instead of holding them accountable for their crimes, they are given sanctuaries to carry on with their lavish lifestyle.

Even though a new government came into power after 2008 election in Pakistan but their policy towards Balochistan is much the same, the faces have changed but the biased, brutal and corrupt system is still in place. Unfortunately during this so called democratically elected government three top Baloch political leader, namely Ghulam Mohammed Baloch, Lala Munir Baloch and Sher Mohammed Baloch were abducted by Pakistani Intelligence Agencies from their lawyers’ office in broad day light, severely tortured for few days and finally murdered in cold blood. Their bodies were found in a deserted area after a week.

Similar atrocities are also being committed against Baloch people by the Islamic Regime of Iran in Western occupied Balochistan. There too hardly a single day goes by without arrests, torture and execution of innocent Baloch people.

Problem of smaller nations and the responsibility of the International Community: If we take a look at the struggles experienced by occupied nations there is a realisation that such struggles have always been ignored by the International Community. The Western democracies instead of siding with the oppressed are backing the oppressors. They are collaborating with Turkey against secular Kurdish movement; they have helped Sri Lanka against the Tamils and they are siding with Pakistan against the Baloch people. This biased approach has to stop and International Community must urge these occupying states to stop the slaughter of the oppressed Nations and abide by International laws.

Such discriminatory actions of the International community have compelled the occupied Nations to stand up to these states and sometimes they are forced to take extreme steps in their own defence. Nations like the Kurd, the Tamils and the Baluch are pushed against the wall and left with no option but to resist the state brutalities and to defend themselves.

These oppressive states especially Pakistan have benefited from International laws on terrorism & the war on terror. Pakistan is protecting terrorists and using the war on terror as a weapon to blackmail the west. Unfortunately instead of holding Pakistan responsible the West is ignoring their crimes and complying with their unjustified demands.

A recent example is the proscription of Baloch liberation Struggle in the UK and the arrest of my colleague and myself on flimsy terrorism charges. One can understand why Pakistan would proscribe the secular Baloch movement – because Pakistan wants to justify the human rights violation in Balochistan in the name of fight against terrorism. The UK had no excuse for proscribing the secular Baloch liberation movement but to please the Pakistani dictator Musharraf. The UK however should know that if it was not for the secular Baloch people in the region, today Balochistan would have been full of Taliban extremists. Imagine how hard it would be to tackle extremism in an area twice as big as the UK full of Taliban and their supporters.

These days we hear the news that the Taliban are moving to Quetta, the capital city of Balcohistan. Baloch have always warned the western powers time and again about the spread of Taliban in their region. And in many instances Baloch have openly said that Taliban are being systematically settled in Quetta in order to counter the secular Baloch national struggle.

Similarly we see other oppressive states are using the so called “war on terror” to undermine the national struggles of oppressed Nations. When the Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked in Pakistan, the Pakistan state media and officials, including the Prime Minister of Pakistan, stated that the attack was carried out by Lashkar-e-Toiba , an Islamic fundamentalist organisation.

However after a meeting with the Sri Lanakan president in Libya the Prime Minister of Pakistan changed his statement and blamed the Tamils for the attack, without a shred of proof. This is another example of collusion between two states. Those states that have illegally annexed other nations tend to collaborate closely with each other against the Nations under their occupation.

The United Nations especially the UN Human Rights Council has become a forum where states support and ignore the wrong doings and violations committed by other member states. Stateless Nations have no or very little say in the UN, for this very reason The United Nation has, by and large, ignored the illegal occupation of weaker Nations.

In order to keep Balochistan under their occupation the Pakistani Army and the Punjabi controlled state administration have dominated Pakistan’s institutions and the seats at the United Nations and other international forums. It is only they that interact with the outside world on behalf of the state. The Baloch are deliberately excluded from these key institutions. Their presence in such matters is absolutely none. In their eyes my participation in this meeting is an act of treason because we are not meant to speak on an International forum. The exclusion of voiceless nations from International Organisations would encourage the oppressors to continue their atrocities against our people.

Oppressive states are globally unified and have combined forces to justify their criminal acts; they are trying nationally and internationally to criminalise the normal and just activities of suppressed Nations in order to continue their hegemony over them. It is the responsibility of stateless Nation like the Kurd, the Tamils and the Baloch to unite and challenge their unjust acts on every forum. We must inform the International community about their inhuman acts and remind the West of its responsibilities to our defenceless nations.

Therefore I appeal to all human Rights Organisations and Humanitarian workers to unite and raise voice against the illegal occupations and human rights abuses of nations like Balochistan.

The meeting was sponsored by CAMPACC and British Tamil Law Foundation, in the UK House of Commons and was by hosted by Soibhain McDonagh MP. The participants of the meeting discussed 1) the impacts of ‘terrorist’ bans on communities seeking self-determination & struggling against occupation abroad such as the Kurdish, Baloch and Palestinian people. 2) Collusion among ‘security’ agencies in undermining self-determination, especially though ‘anti terror’ laws. 3) The role of such laws as an instrument of foreign policy and domestic repression; and means to resist and undermine such laws through defence.

McDonagh PM and Estella (founder of CAMPACC) chaired the meeting. Kazim Aqpak from Kurdish Federation UK, Les Levidow from CAMPAAC, Hyrbyair Marri, Baloch leader, a Tamil representative (spoke on behalf of Jan Jananayagam) and Matt foot lawyer of Shanthan (Arunachalam Chrithanthakumar) have spoken of different aspect of terrorism laws and the war on terror and its impacts on occupied nations like the Kurd, the Baloch and the Tamils.

Pakistani flag has no honour and place in Balochistan

Because colours of the Pakistani flag of white are supposed to symbolize peace, harmony and mutual love and to live in peace. The colour green represents prosperity and progress. But this artificial state flag is far from these facts.

While in reality this state’s history is full of blood of the oppressed innocent people who died due to its (Pakistan) founder Mr. Mohammed Ali Jinnah.

Pakistan from its birth has been carrying crises and conflicts while millions were forced to leave their homeland from India and many were killed indiscriminately due to sectarianism. This was adopted and triggered by its founder Mr. Jinnah, for his desired Independent Islamic land while Muslims were living with Hindus and Sikhs in peace and security throughout the centuries in the sub-continent.

Because the main aim of creating any country is to ensure a decent life for it is people and to prevent them from misery. But with new born Pakistan, things came contrary to the logic and became a curse on it is own supporters as they tasted all kinds of torments, adversities and hatred and animosity and hostility to each other after so many years of coexistence, solidarity and brotherhood with each other before the British occupation of subcontinent and after British colonialism in form of collective struggle for independence.

Hence a lot of people consider the boundary between the dissident and the mother-country (sub-continent) of pure imagination, and that every Pakistani is Indian in origin, because every Pakistani had ancestors of the Indians, and was carrying identity and belongs to the Indian soil.

Britain was not serious about this division, but only was keen on any price of inability of Russian ambitions to engage and take control of the sub-continent and the neighbouring areas.

How was it possible for a single-minded man such as Mr. Jinnah, to force a super power like Britain, in order to secure a separate state for Muslims?? In fact, Britain was not interested in Muslims or any other religious group in India throughout the period of occupation of the subcontinent particularly when they intended to leave.

The best proof of the indifference of Britain for the composition of Pakistan as a separate entity is drawing the borders between Pakistan and the subcontinent within a period not exceeding one month, regardless of the endless complexities which resulted to an unfair division of assets and sources of income.

Balochistan

The biggest victim of Pakistan’s existence was Baluchistan, due to it's enjoyment of all elements of being sovereign status and has chance a rising a state because of its geopolitical importance along with the rich natural resources as well as it's southern coast which overlooks the Arabian Sea and the costal line which extends for more than 750 kilometres.

These reasons were enough to flood the saliva of Jinnah’s devil ambitions to invade and control over Baluchistan, the neighbouring independent sovereign state, and to force it to accede under the logic of power in 1948.

Since then, Pakistani rulers are displacing the local population from their regions to change the demography of Baloch areas. As well as replacement of the local Baloch language to Urdu, a derived language from Hindi, the language of Jinnah’s ancestor’s subcontinent, and imposed it in Baluchistan as the official language at schools and educational institutions. A desperate attempt to demolish the original and native Balochi language.

In addition to that, Pakistani non democratic and dictatorial rulers was/are continuously depleting and robbing all the natural resources for the management of all Pakistanis industries and institutions, particularly the military, which is using the wealth of Baluch land in suppressing and killing the innocent people of Baluchistan whenever they try to retrieve their stolen rights.

Therefore Baloch homeland is considered to be one of the poorest and least developed and have the most percentage of illiteracy, though having a rich ground of all natural resources that can guarantee development and prosperity to any nation.

As for Baloch, the master of the land, they realize the seriousness of this tumour in what is called Pakistan. They are trying to erase their identity and destroy their culture and history. Therefore Baloch resistance existed ever since Baluchistan was occupied by force and they will never give up their land at any price.

The reason why Pakistani establishment has failed in all it its desperate attempts to annex the Baluch culturally and intellectually, as they failed to include them on the ground, is that Pakistani rulers have ignored that there is a very big difference of tens of thousands of years between the history and culture of Baluch nation, and the history of underdeveloped Pakistan, which does not exceed some decades.

The simplest proof of that is the emergence of wonder and amazement in the faces of
Pakistan’s ISI and FC forces when they see any citizen of Baluchistan in his traditional clothes such as turbans and baggy trousers, they are seen as strangers and foreigners in their own ancestral land by its occupiers who themselves emigrated from India in 1947 and forcefully ruling Balochistan.

In fact, their disdain from seeing Baluch people wearing such turbans and baggy trousers, this shows their ignorance. Because they do not realize that the symbolism of such turban with it is three or four meters, in existence for thousands of years than the age and history of new born Pakistan. And therefore it is not fair to compare the history of Baluchistan with the history of an unclear and incomplete growth state, Pakistan.

How a country like Pakistan can mock the values and history of an ancient civilization of a great nation when itself does not have any real history, except its dark history of destruction and loss. Maybe Pakistani establishment forgot that Baluchistan is not the right place to look for their lost identity, as their identity can be found in India, Pakistan’s origin.

So it is better for Pakistani rulers to think again and go back and join to the sub-continent were they had split from. If they are willing to have a history which can be remembered by the coming generation, especially that India has become one of the great powers, which is characterized by a strong and balanced economy, unlike Pakistan, the underdeveloped and dilapidated since its inception to date.

Finally, the fate of Pakistan, without any doubt is disappearing from the international map, because of the stiffness and resistance of the loyal people of Baluchistan in the face of the colonial State of Pakistan to defend their ancestral land (Baluchistan).

This is what we have learned from history that the end is definite for every iniquitous.

I was just reading today the latest news about the multi-billion dollar Pakistan aid bill currently awaiting President Obama’s signature, when I got an email about the recent abduction of a Norwegian citizen traveling in Pakistan.

According to a letter sent out today from the Baloch Human Rights Council of Canada to Norway’s representative in Ontario, Norwegian Ehsan Arjemandi had gone to Pakistan to visit his family in July.

The BHRC said Arjemandi was traveling to Karachi by bus in August when several “unidentified vehicles intercepted the bus, armed men got into the bus and took Mr. Ehsan Arjemandi out of the bus and covered his head with a black blanket and took him away.”

His family hasn’t heard from him since. The council said that witnesses to the abduction say that Arjemandi was abducted by a team led by Major Mohammed Shahid, a military intelligence officer.

The BHRC said that Arjemandi has been “a very active voice in Norway and Europe against the human rights violation in Balochistan… had organized several peaceful processions in front of Pakistan Embassy in Norway against the illegal abduction of political workers in Balochistan, where more than 8000 political workers have been made disappeared by Pakistan military.”

The BHRC also said that it believes the Pakistan army and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) carried out the abduction “to punish Mr. Ehsan Arjemandi and at the same time silence the voice of Baloch Diaspora against Pakistan army's brutalities in Balochistan.”

Balochistan or Baluchistan is an area that covers parts of Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan. Baloch political leaders in Pakistan want greater control of the region’s resources, protection for the Baloch minority and a halt to the building of military bases. The government has also used the Baloch region to test its nuclear weapons.

Some militant forces want the entire Baloch region to be an independent country and have carried out bombings and other violent actions to get attention. Of course, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan want their territories to remain intact.

Pakistan’s Human Rights Commission backs up much of what the BHRC says about abductions and torture. It has tracked hundreds of Baloch political party members, students, doctors and tribal leaders who have been detained by government security forces, many disappearing for months or even years. Some have been tortured or have died in custody, according to the commission.

Members of Arjemandi’s family, who were already worried because Arjemandi has a heart condition, expressed fears that he would be tortured by the Pakistan military.

However, the human rights group said that they had confirmation that the Pakistan military had handed Arjemandi over to Iranian authorities who had transferred him to Zahidan prison.

The BHRC said it believes that Arjemandi’s life is now in even more danger because several Baloch political activists who were handed over to Iranian Authorities have been hanged after being tortured.

The U.S. aid package would give Pakistan $1.5 billion annually over the next five years ostensibly for democratic, economic and social development programs. That's all fine. Those programs should be encouraged. But it’s the part that allows “such sums as are necessary” for military aid that bother me.

London: Exiled Baloch Leader Nawabzada Hyrbyair Marri has said that Baloch and Sindhi people need to join together and struggle against the Pakistani Occupation. He further said in the last over 60 years of Pakistan's existence Baloch and Sindhi have been victimized and terrorized by the state of Pakistan in different ways.

Commenting on the resolution passed by Sindhi friends Hyrbyair said that Balochistan should always be mentioned as "occupied Balochistan" rather than a province of Pakistan.

Answering to a Question about the position of Sardars after Independence Mr Marri said that there is a tribal system in Baluchistan which is wrongfully and deliberately being portrayed as a feudal system. "Sardars are also part of the Baloch society and we can address our differences ourselves. There are already several educated Baloch like Dr Allah Nazar and others involved in Balochistan Liberation struggle and they are not Sadars or Nawabs".

First of all I would like to thank the World Sindhi Congress for giving me this opportunity to express my views.

Sindhi and Baloch both democratic and secular Nations are facing the same enemy which is Pakistani Army and Punjabi as the dominant nation. Sindhis are almost suffering same fate as the Baloch. I am not aware of the facts that how Sindh has become a part of Pakistan BUT what I do know is that Sindh and Balochistan have long been the victims of Pakistan’s violence.

Pakistan exploits our natural resources, including our waters, gas, oil, and land, in order to support its bloated military at the expense of other nations. The Pakistani government has been building a number of mega-dams that have drastically reduced the flow of water to Sindh. Pakistan embarked upon demographic changes that threaten to reduce the Baloch and Sindhi to a minority in their own Homeland.

In Balochistan the Pakistani Army wants to bring in Punjabi and Mohajirs to Gwadar and surrounding areas so that they can turn the Baloch into a minority in their own homeland. That is why the people of Balochistan are opposed to the construction of the so called mega projects because they consider these projects as mega disaster against the indigenous people of Balochistan.

Sindhi and Baloch have a justified right to demand for sovereign and Independent homelands, where they can live with peace and dignity. Where, their children and family are not humiliated and harassed on daily bases. The demand of a sovereign country is a common cause which both nations share, that is why a joint struggle for this common cause would be very useful rather than individual efforts.

I’m sure you are all aware of the fact that Balochistan was never a part of Pakistan. According to Baloch scholar and the author of "The Problem of Greater Balochistan," Dr. Inyatullah Baloch, ‘United Balochistan’ existed as a tribal confederacy based on the collective and cooperative concept of Baloch tribalism from 1756-1795 in the name of "Khanate of Baluchistan," Baloch people’s struggle is purely to regain their Independent State. Since the occupation of Free Balochistan, the Pakistani army has killed thousands of our children, elderly, men and women. Thousands have been forced out of their home and forced to take refuge not only in neighbouring provinces of Pakistan but also in neighbouring countries.

Currently thousands of Baloch activists are missing from Balochistan. The missing persons consist of people of all ages and spheres of life. The level of repression against the Baloch is more intense than the level of repression in Sindh. Baloch are left with no other option but to resist the occupation of their land and to defend themselves.

Pakistan is the worst example of Islamic fundamentalism. This fundamentalism started with the idea of the two nation theory; if it was not for the egoistic Jinnah Muslims would have had a greater voice in the geion. The creation of Pakistan was firstly detrimental to Muslims, then the Baluch and then to the Sindhis. I say this because the image of Muslims has suffered since the creation of Pakistan, the Independence has been undermined and the sovereignty of Sindh has vanished.

Pakistan establishment has introduced Islamic fundamentalist culture in Balochistan in order to subdue Baloch Nationalism and promote their Pakistani version of false Islamic values which are in a contradiction to Baloch values, for the instability in Afghanistan and also a great help in promoting international terrorism. This proves that Punjab is willing to sacrifice International peace and stability to insure food on their table.

The creation of Pakistan was for the sole purpose of improving and empowering the long enslaved Punjabi Nation, this was proven when over 2 million Bangladeshis were massacred only because they challenged the Punjabi hegemony over Pakistan. The neo-colonialist Punjabi elite have as yet not learned their lesson through their artificial country’s first disintegration of East Pakistan. The Pakistan establishment and Punjabi elite are still pursuing their neo-colonialist policies in order to feed the Punjabi by illegally maintaining their occupation over Baluchistan.

The Baluch Nation has strived for freedom since its occupation by Pakistan. The level of resistance has varied due to circumstances but the will and aspiration of the Baluch people for freedom has not changed. The people of Balochistan, especially the youth are convinced that the Punjab will not be successful in suppressing the Baluch for long.

At present the Sindhis and the Baluch have the same enemy therefore there is an urgent need to unite, resist and defeat this common enemy because our identity and survival is at stake.

I advise the Sindhi friend that you should learn from the experience of the Baluch that the enemy will only get stronger and confident with time, therefore you should unite be willing to sacrifice and defend your motherland.

I urge the Baloch and Sindhi people to join against the common enemy for their common gaol to achieve their sovereign and Independent homelands.
The more united we are – the sooner we can achieve our goal of Independence.

I would like to finish with a quote of Nelson Mandela. He wrote in his famous biography "Long walk to Freedom,"

"Over and over again, we had used all non-violent weapons in our arsenal--speeches, deputations, threats, marches, strikes, stays-away, voluntarily imprisonments-- all to no avail, for whatever we did was met by iron hand. A freedom fighter learns the hard way that it is the oppressor who defines the nature of the struggle, and the oppressed is often left no recourse but to use methods, that those of the oppressor."

What Sindhis have got for last 60 years is; few assassinated prime ministers and what Baloch got is the bodies of their leaders and other loved ones.

Quetta:(October 2, 2009) Pakistani government has extradited Mr Ehsan Arjemandi along with 10 other Baloch to Iran. According to details the brother of Ehsan Mr. Ali Arjemandi has revealed yesterday that his brother has been extradited to Iran. Mr Ali expressed concerned about his brothers safety. He said that Iran might execute his brother as in last couple of months Iran has executed more than 20 Baloch activists including those handed over to Iran by Pakistani authorities.

Leaders of BSO (azaad) BRP, BUC, BNM and other political parties in Balochistan has strongly condemned the extradition of Mr Arjemandi and said that Iran and Pakistan are violating the International laws and treaties. “Baloch Card”……. rescue for Nato forces in Afghanistan

The present troubled political scenario in Afghanistan, in which Talibans/al-quida (read Pakistani Military), are overwhelming NATO/ISAF forces in Afghanistan, should be taken very seriously. This dilema needs a “robust Change Policy” both militarily and politicaly in AfPak sphere of politics, not only in Afghanistan but also in Pakistan.Only the retarded minded personalities trust a thief to appoint him/her to guard the treasury.
The same example applies to Pakistan, who is the proven god-father of Talibans/Al-quida but was included to “fight against terrorism”. The matter of the fact is that Pakistan is a terrorist State. She is terrorizing her own citizens for the last 62 years and is promoting terrorism in her neighbouring countries including the western democratic lands.
Dont´t forgett that Pro-talibani Pakistani Military has inflicted more crimes against humanity and used chemical bombs on Baloch than Saddam Hussain did against Kurds in Northern Iraq.

Again, it is accepted by Pakistan that Talibans are his future assets. It is clear that Pakistan endeavours, with the help of Iran, Saudi-arabia and potentially from China and Russia, to expell NATO and other forces from Afghanistan and day dreams to instal an oppressive Talibani Government in Afghanistan to massacre not only the ethnic minorities in both Pakistan and Afghanistan but also in the streets of the cities of Europe, Russia, United States and other democratic States.

It`s absurd to appease Pakistan with billions of dollars with the hope to avert the Talibani take over of the nuclear bombs of Pakistan. The mentors of Pakistani Army provided lessons about the tactics to lay insurgency against the Soviet Army. With practical experience on the ground, now the mouse has been strong enough to be
caught by the cat (Americans)in Afghanistan Now, it`s a full fledged war which is taking place in Afghanistan. The war which is daily bread for some and death and destruction for the others. Pakistani Talibans (Pakistani Military), War Lords of Afghanistan,narcotic smugglers and potentially the American lobbyists are benefiting from the war while tax-payers of western civilisation, western soldiers on the ground in Afghanistan, the ethnic minorities in both Afghanistan and Pakistan are loosing their lives, properities and above of all their future freedom.

The future freedom of the western civilisation is at stake. The Indians are in shock and American are in the state of utmost fear for their future and they accept their potential… forced exit from Afghanistan.

We think the bright, intellectual minds of the Generals of NATO/ISAF forces in Afghanistan and the leaders of the civilian Governments of Western countries of the World have not forgotten the fact that they won the war in Afghanistan by approaching the “Northern Alliance” in the beginning. The same case was in Iraq.Unitd States of America approached to Kurds to defeat Sadam Hussain.

In the same way, it is inevitable for the NATO/ISAF forces to make alliance with the Balochs in Balochistan to defeat Talibans/Al-quida and their god-father…..Pakistani Army. Why Ann Petersson, the American Ambessador in Islamabad, laments about the nonavailability of their men in Balochistan?

A Baloch leader stated that, “Don`t be scared from the Pakistani “fear-card” like Indians but be bold to extend the hand of friendship to Balochs, to the Baloch Freedom Fighters(Sarmachars).”

With Baloch help, the Talibans can surely be defeated. Balochistan should be declared a no-fly zone forPakistani/Irani/Chinese Jet-fighters. All Pakistani forces should be forced to evacute from Balochistan who support the Talibans. “Sarmachars” – Baloch Freedom Fighters – should be entrusted the job to protect the borders between Balochistan and Afghanistan to deny the entry to Talibans to cross the border. An alliance with Balochs by NATO/ISAF forces is the best counter-insurgency against Talibans. Using the “Baloch Card” shall lead, slowly but surely, not only the freedom of Baluchistan but the total defeat of Talibans/al-quida (Pakistani Army)infiltration in Afghanistan. “Baloch Card” is the first and foremost step to win the war in Afghanistan.

Freedom of Balochistan is the only recipe to win in Afghanistan by democratic forces. The Baloch-card is the only rescue for NATO/ISAF forces and it is the light in the end of the tunnel to defeat the evil forces in South Asia. Siding with BALOCH, is the best counter-insurgency against Talibans,the last hope for the future generations of the world, to breathe in peaceful atmosphere, without any fear !!!!

The Quetta Shura Threat to secular Balochistan?

Many people are asking me these days about the Quetta-Shura. Washington has threatened to expand its drone attacks to Balochistan. In the wake of these developments, I would like top reproduce an article of mine, “Threat to secular Balochistan”, which was published in Pakistan’s leading English language newspaper, Dawn, in March this year. This article gives an insight about the real issue.
“The Quetta Shura does exist,” said Habib Jalib, secretary general of the Balochistan National Party, last night in an interview with Samaa TV. The government of Pakistan is still not being very truthful about the presence of Taliban in Quetta. It seems to love Taliban more than the very people of Balochistan. Here is my article:

Nothing embarrasses and irks Pakistani spymasters more than the issue of Talibanisation in Quetta. Over the years, Afghan President Hamid Karzai has repeatedly protested against the alleged protection provided by Islamabad to Mullah Omar, the one-eyed spiritual cleric and reclusive leader of the Afghan Taliban.

As Pakistan’s internationally acclaimed journalist, Ahmed Rashid, laments in his book Descent into Chaos, “Today, seven years after 9/11, Mullah Omar and the original Afghan Taliban Shura still live in Balochistan province.”

A Baloch nationalist leader, Sanaullah Baloch, also bemoans the presence of Taliban supporters who have captured land worth Rs2bn along the eastern and western bypass of Quetta. These quarters are now virtual no-go areas. Islamabad, nonetheless, has been in a state of constant denial.

The Taliban have now vociferously asserted their existence in Balochistan. Engineer Asad, a self-proclaimed spokesman of the newly formed Tehrik-i-Taliban Balochistan (TTB), was recently quoted in a newspaper as saying that their struggle was “against non-Muslims and western forces that had attacked and occupied Islamic countries … the TTB was committed to fighting the enemies of Islam”. The TTB, as reported, disassociates itself from Baitullah Mehsud’s Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), bills suicide bombing as un-Islamic and rules out any vendetta with the Sherani faction of the JUI.

After the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979, the ISI-CIA-nexus enthusiastically exported this jihad from Quetta to Afghanistan. During the Taliban regime, Islamabad went overboard in its support for their rule in Kabul by setting up a telephone network, which became a part of the Pakistan telephone grid. Hence one could dial Kandahar from anywhere in Pakistan as a domestic call, with the same code as Quetta.

For Islamabad, the post-Taliban era coincided with the rise of the nationalistic insurgency in Balochistan. The Islamists were given protection in Quetta so that they could serve Islamabad’s interest against progressive and secular Baloch forces. The centre is confident that a bribed mullah is certain to serve as a reliable collaborator against the mounting Baloch nationalist movement.

In fact, over the past many years Quetta has been used as a training ground by the Taliban as they have been blowing up Internet cafes, music and CD shops in the city for long. There is growing fear that the Taliban can surface with a Swat-like showdown any time in the near future.

The Taliban presence is substantiated by the fact that not a single incident of suicide bombing has ever been reported by Baloch insurgents who have confronted the centre five times since the controversial accession of Balochistan to Pakistan in 1948. Suicide bombing is purely a Taliban-related phenomenon in this region and in the recent past, Quetta city has been the hub of continuous suicide bombings.

For instance, on Feb 17, 2007, 13 people, including a senior judge, were killed and several others injured in a suicide bomb attack in a district court. On Dec 13, 2007, seven people were killed in another suicide bombing incident. Last year, on Sept 24, two persons, including a teenaged girl, were killed and 22 people were injured in a suicide bomb explosion. An earlier suicide bomb attack on Sept 9 took place at a religious school in the outskirts of Quetta; it left five dead and 12 students were injured. The latest suicide attack on March 2 in Pishin also took six lives.

Ironically, Islamabad eliminated Baloch leaders Nawab Bugti and Balaach Marri on the pretext that they had challenged the ‘writ of the state’. But to date, not a single bullet has been fired at Islamists who are training suicide bombers and murdering innocent civilians in the name of religion.

The discourse on moderate and extremist Taliban is ridiculous. A Talib will always remain a narrow-minded, conservative barbarian, bent upon killing until people subscribe to his bizarre and irrational interpretation of Islam. Today, the Taliban are operating in Balochistan with a better strategy. No longer are they willing to put all their eggs in one basket. The proponents of the Taliban, often described as ‘moderate religious forces’, are fast penetrating the secular Baloch province by getting elected to the provincial legislature with overwhelming financial assistance from intelligence agencies, according to some reports.

In the 2002 general elections, the pro-Taliban JUI-F secured16 seats in the Balochistan Assembly. In the incumbent Balochistan Assembly, the JUI-F has 10 seats — a political front for the clandestine backing provided to the Taliban.

Secondly, the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, another brainchild of the establishment, is out to crush democratic and secular forces in the conflict-ridden province. On Jan 26, the outlawed group killed the chairman of the Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) Hussain Ali Yousafi. Such attacks are likely to transform Quetta into an intol

erant place where one would eventually have to be a practisng Sunni Muslim to clinch a ‘residential permit’ from the ‘custodians of Islam’.

The Talibanisation of Balochistan, a province which shares borders with Iran and Afghanistan, is going to be catastrophic. The policymakers in Islamabad should recognise that if the secular Baloch province falls into the hands of fanatics, it will not only jeopardise the integrity of the federation, but also cause unrest in the entire region.

Al Qaeda would surely use this area as a hub for further terrorist attacks on Nato and American forces and pro-US Gulf countries. Undoubtedly, when carrying out political transactions in Balochistan, both Islamabad and the international community must give preference to the democratic and secular Baloch over obscurantist Taliban forces.

Brahmdagh Bugti rejects talks with Government

QUETTA: Chief Baloch Republican Party (BRP) Brahmdagh Bugti has rejected offer of talks made by Government, saying he has no need to contact the Government.

"The Baloch people want nothing less than freedom and I have no need to contact the Government", he said this while talking to media men from undisclosed location on Thursday. In current circumstances, there is no question to hold talks with Government or contact with".

Bugti said he was not any need to contact the government, as the Baloch people have only one demand that of freedom from Pakistan’s suppression. He also rejected the package announced by Federal Government for Balochistan. The Government wanted to give bribe to Baloch people through this package, he said.

Torture, murder and kidnapping of Balochi cannot suppress us, he said, adding that, we need nothing from Pakistan but we want them to end their occupation on our land and release our people from their torture cell.

When asked that whether he supported the calls by several Baloch politicians and activists to try Pervez Musharraf for his Grandfather Akbar Khan Bugti’s killing, Brahmdagh Bugti said Baloch people are not against Musharraf and any other individual but we are against the system.

The masses of Balochistan are being killed under the pretext of reconciliation process, he said. According to some media report, Interior Minister Rehman Malik is likely to visit Kabul soon to meet Baloch leader Brahmdagh Bugti to win him over.

The sources confirmed that Brahmdagh Bugti, the grandson of Nawab Akbar Bugti, was in Kabul and in constant touch with the government.

The government has realized that without bringing disgruntled Baloch leaders home permanent peace could not be restored in Balochistan. Rehman is likely to go Kabul to attend the oath-taking of the Afghan president, sources said.

The government has already requested the US to expel Brahmdagh from Kabul because it believes he is involved in terrorist attacks in Pakistan apparently to avenge the death of his grandfather, who was killed in Aug 2006.

Political analysts believed there was a possibility that the Baloch leader might be expelled from Afghanistan in a few days and after that a meeting between Malik and Brahmdagh might take place outside Pakistan.

The government has decided to withdraw cases against Baloch leaders and grant general amnesty to political prisoners and those who are in exile or allegedly involved in anti-state activities. The decision was apparently taken to seek Baloch leaders’ help in restoring peace in the province.

It mostly publishes interviews of Taliban leaders and news about their activities. It encourages Taliban activities in the region showing them as a role model for the new generation.

It should be very clear for the readers across the world that if Pakistan is really serious in its so-called 'War on Terror', Pakistan claims it will crush Taliban movement, question arises Is it possible to crush Taliban movement in presence of such newspaper which is not based in FATA nor Waziristan but Karachi. Is this a failure of a state in 'War on Terror'? Geneva cops foil ISI bid to take snaps of Baluch activist

Quetta: Police in Geneva stopped two suspicious characters for trying to spy upon and take pictures of a senior Baluch representative to the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The two, who were trying to take snaps of Mehran Baluch, a younger brother of Baluch national hero Hyrbyair Marri, turned out to be Pakistani diplomats posted at Bern.

Police recovered documents and ID cards that showed the two were working for the Pakistani mission in Bern.

Anjuman Ittehad Marri, an organization struggling to defend the rights of the indigenous Baluch people and ousting Pakistani occupation troops from Baluchistan, has condemned the incident.

The two Pakistanis, who were most definitely agents of the infamous Inter Services Intelligence, were keeping a surveillance of the streets around the hotel where Baluch was staying.

This is not the first time Pakistani officials have tried to obstruct the work of Baluch, whose elder brother Nawabzada Bala'ach Marri was killed by the Pakistani military on November 20, 2007.

Two years ago two Pakistani officials gate crashed into the compound of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva in a bid to stop Baluch from speaking at the world forum.

Pakistani authorities, notably the Inter Services Intelligence, have also tried to obstruct international travelling of Baluch by providing false information to intelligence set-ups of foreign nations.

In March 2009, the Pakistani embassy in Switzerland wrote a letter to the Swiss government that Baluch is a terrorist and should be prevented from coming to Geneva.

Interfaith International chairman Charles Graves conducted a probe and so did the Swiss authorities and dismissed the Pakistani charges as baseless, unfounded and contrary to facts.

The UN Human Rights Council informed the Baluch delegate that there were no charges against him and no one will be allowed to hinder his international outreach work for his occupied homeland.

After failing to officially obstruct Baluch's work, the Pakistani spooks are trying to make secret video footage of his moves.

"Such acts are against the Geneva Convention and international norms of conduct,' the Anjuman Ittehad Marri said in a statement condemning the antics of the Pakistani spies. "Such vulgar actions cannot stop the Baluch voice from being heard at international forum nor can they prevent the Baluch leaders from speaking the truth," the AIM said.

The organization said due to the tireless efforts of Baluch activists the Baluch national question is coming into international limelight and introduced their national identity to nations across the world, much to the chagrin of the illegitimate state of Pakistan and its various organs.

"Mehran Baluch and other international activists are representing the interests of the Baluch people in broad daylight, rather than in the shadows," the AIM representative said. "Pakistan is in a state of paranoia and these shameless antics and uncalled for actions of the Pakistani agents are inexcusable," the AIM said.

Pakistan fears exposure of its black deeds in Baluchistan and is using dirty tricks to prevent the Baluch story from being heard at international forums.

AIM said the Baluch people are confident the UN Human Rights Council would not heed to Pakistan's conspiracies against the Baluch.

It recalled that the British government under pressure from coup leader and dictator, General Pervez Musharraf, had arrested Hyrbyair Marri and his aide Faiz Baluch, but they were found not guilty by a London jury.

The Baluch are totally opposed to Pakistan's parasitic existence on the world map as their Texas-sized homeland was occupied against their wishes on March 27, 1948 – seven months after the British left India divided.

Baluch is a son of legendary national leader Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri.

These are the projects to weaken the Baloch nation politically as well as economically,they want to make us slave and dependent for next 62 years.State has hired several so called nationalist for performing this duty.These tribal chief's turned blind,dumb and deaf,they are unable to see the worse situation of Baloch,they cant hear the cry of nation,they got no courage to speak a word against the brutality of the state.Baloch nation being displaced,killed,kidnaped and tortured by the army of ''Islamic Republic of Pakistan''.After such a cruelity what action taken by respected ''Tribal Chiefs''.Did they take the revenge of displaced peoples?Did they take the revenge of missing persons?Did they take the revenge of martyrs?Did they take the revenge of sister''Zarina Marri'' who is sexually harassed in millitary torture cell and many others we even dont know their names.But unfortunately the ''Balochi Gherat'' (honour) of tribal chief is missing somewhere or sleeping.The provincial minister chief of Jhalawan Sanaullah zehri loosing strong hold in his area after the successful freedom movement.Baloch people already boycotted him in Balochistan now in his own constituency.The state and his terrorist army failed to crush Baloch resistance movement for Independence.Now Pakistan using her play cards in name of ''Balochi honour'' to turned a war of independence into a tribal war.Sanaullah zehri said in his recent press statement''My Balochi honour allows me to send my tribesmen in Mengal's territority.He added that'' he will fight with strength,the entire land will be full of dead bodies,and i will not be responsible of killings.''

The entire Baloch nation is in state of war,but tribal chief never contributed or ''Balochi honour'' never violated by the sins of state.But today he is becoming a hurdle in baloch national movement of independence.He is diverting a political matter into a tribal war,which is not in the interest of nation.If he will comitt this blunder on instructions of state so Baloch nation will never forgive him and history will not remembered him as ''Chief of Jhalwan'' but as a ''national traitor''
