Bugti’s niece being harassed, threatened: HRCP urges Zardari, CM to ensure Samia’s security

LAHORE: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has called upon President Asif Ali Zardari and Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif to ensure that Samia Mazari, Nawab Akbar Bugti’s niece and mother-in-law of Brahamdagh Bugti, is provided protection against harassment by intelligence agency operatives.

In letters addressed to the president and the CM, HRCP attracted attention to Mazari’s harassment by intelligence agencies. HRCP has highlighted that the agencies had been following her, harassing her and threatening to kill her. The letter urged the president and the CM to take prompt action “to ensure that Mazari’s security is guaranteed and that she is not harassed merely because of her relationship with a person about whom somebody in government may have unfavourable ideas”.
