DSP killed in clash with militants in Dera Bugti
QUETTA - DSP Tamboo Muhammad Ali Khosa was killed and nine of his colleagues wounded during a clash with militants in and area adjoining Dera Bugti on Thursday. They also kidnapped around 22 persons, including 11 labourers and the same number of police officials.
According to government sources, unknown armed persons attacked 11 labourers in Chattar who were busy in loading sand into tractor trolleys. Militants took away the labourers after setting two of the tractor trolleys on fire.
Following the incident, DPO Naseerabad Atta-ur-Rehman cordoned off the area and formed a team headed by SHO Mir Hassan Khosa for carrying out search operation for recovering the abductees.
During the search operation, armed persons in Korwa area of the district made SHO Mir Hassan, Additional SHO Hussain Bakhsh and five other constables hostage and drove them away towards some unknown location.
Later on, a heavy contingent of police headed by DSP Tamboo Muhammad Ali Khosa left for Laloo Koh area of the tribal agency for an action against the militants. As they reached Sangsila, heavily armed militants attacked the raiding party resulting in hours-long gun battle.
As a result, nine police personnel including DSP Muhammad Ali Khosa and Head Constable Imdad Ali received serious wounds and were shifted to Civil Hospital Dera Murad Jamali where DSP Khosa succumbed to his injuries.
The fighting was still going on till filing of this report. Sources have disclosed that four more policemen have also been kidnapped.
Meanwhile, Baloch Republican Army (BRA) has claimed the responsibly of the attack and kidnapping of labourers and police officials.
It may be recalled that last year unknown persons had kidnapped TMO Chattar Muhammad Bakhsh along with his four friends and killed the abductees after around a month.
