University students concerned over disappearance of fellow students


QUETTA, Dec 21: The students of Balochistan University have expressed great concern over the alleged arrest and forced disappearances of students and demanded for immediate release of all students.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday students of Balochistan University including Safdar Baloch, Shahbaz Baloch, Nuroz Khan and others complained that students were badly affected due to prevailing situation in Balochistan.

They said that several students of Balochistan had been allegedly picked up by government agencies and security forces and they had been implicated in different wrong cases.

They said that Balochistan University had become headquarter of Frontier Corps (FC) that was allegedly making students subject of worst harassment.

They claimed that Zakir Majeed student of Psychology was allegedly whisked away by government agencies on June 10th, this year and still he was in their custody.

They said that Sami Mengal a student of Geology department who was a position holder was arrested by security forces and he was implicated in fabricated cases. However, after three months in jail he was acquitted by court but he was again kidnapped by government agencies and his whereabouts were still unknown.

They alleged that students of Geology and Pharmacy namely Abdul Hayee Baloch, Naseer Jattak and Mujeeb Muhammad Shahi were allegedly arrested by security forces on November 9.

They alleged that through a well conceived plan Baloch students were being barred from education.

They feared that if their fellow students were not released at earliest their studies would be affected and they would not be able to appear in examinations.

They demanded of the Vice Chancellor of Balochistan University and other humanitarian organizations for taking notice of alleged forced kidnapping and arrest of students.
